I didn't post to be recognized I posted because I love this game. The large majority of TH-cam celebs are minor, including AVGN and those above him. Nobody is really a household name like, say, Harrison Ford.

Gamecube controller is the best controller ever made. It's the most comfortable controller I've ever used.

I haven't tried PS4 yet. I haven't seen a game worth putting out that much money for yet. I'd rather just put that towards my pc.
persona 5, bloodborne, spiderman ps4, uncharted, horizon zero dawn and FFXV Look good. There are lots of other cool ps4 exclusives to look into.

I want to recall that the original arcade Monkey Ball wasn't just an ad for Dole bananas, but was a tie-in to a specific premium brand. Sega would years later drop the Dole connection, and years after that would switch to Chiquita.

Oh my God Super Monkey Ball. Such nostalgia with this one! I remember playing this on the PSP around 2006; great game, great console.

I think the aesthetic is the biggest reason people overlooked it. I just remember seeing it in a store during launch and thinking it looked like a baby game. When I eventually played it many years later after I got out of college I loved it. I also missed out on F-Zero GX and TTYD, but those were more due to their just being an overwhelming amount of good games coming out on all consoles at the time for all consoles
Fun fact: Not the stage rotates around, just the camera rotates and the player moves accordingly to it/force gets applied to the player accordingly. I recreated this for practice :D
My mates and I use to play this and mario party all night till 10am. Dam they were fun times.
I think the Xbone controller is the best controller ever, it fixed all the problems the X360 had.

I was at my local Electronics Boutique back in 2001 to get my pre-reserved Gamecube. It was me and about 7 other people one of whom was a Jockey at the Saratoga Raceway. Guy was a huge Nintendo fan but was legitimately like 4'8''. I picked up super monkey ball and used to come home from working nights to play monkey pool and drink beer. Good times.
Used to play this game and thought it was one of those "you don't like it but it grows on you sorta things" but looking back, it is pretty good. it's a bit like a 3D successor to classic Marble Madness. :)

It's worth noting that the second one allows for you to tackle each level individually.
Not easier to maps, but it takes away the stress of having limited lives, so the really hard maps you can practice and learn.
Love that GameCube story mike, hilarious. I love the GameCube, my first Nintendo home console, I had a gba for years, then my uncle gave me his ps2, then I got a gamecube for Christmas, it was at the end of it's life but it was still cool, have fond memories playing Lego Star Wars with my 2 brothers

The best controller I've ever had was the ASCII pad for SNES. I had it since my childhood and I conquered many games with it. Still works today just as perfectly as it did 25 years ago
Mike has told the Gamecube story before, but it is just as funny to hear as it was last time.
I spilled milk on my genesis controller and it still worked...the milk went inside too...i just cleaned it out and it was fine.
One thing that really impresses me about this game is how all reflections are rendered in real-time, at high resolution, and the game _STILL_ runs at a buttery smooth 60 frames per second! Even next gen games would struggle with this! I don't know how this current gen is doing, but it sure says a lot about how AV could make a game look this nice on Gamecube while others couldn't do the same until the PS3 and 360, and even then would end up capping the game at 30 FPS!

Me and my cousins played the shit out of the two Monkey ball games on GC in the early 2000s. I didn't even know the bonus courses existed, which shows how good we were lol.

Noibat G-Darius is an absolutely amazing horizontal shmup, one of the finest for 1997. You should try it someday, and I have the perfect reason for that... the Darius series is known for its bizarre mechanical fish enemies, and in G-Darius, you can even _capture_ the non-boss enemies to gain extra firepower and/or block projectiles! Perhaps this rings a bell?

Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader is my favorite Gamecube launch title. Resident Evil 4 was really good too.
i think smb is timeless all it needs now is touched up graphics and a larger variety of backgrounds and music

Marble Blast Ultra on the Xbox 360 Arcade was also an excellent game in this genre. In terms of cost to hours played it must be up there with the best value games I've ever bought.

I thought the PS2 controller was my favorite until the OG Xbox came out. That big controller S fit my hands like a glove. And it only got better with the 360
the gamecube is the only console i've ever bought on launch day. i got it with star wars rogue leader. it's still my favorite console of that entire generation, and i agree, the controller is still my favorite of any console to date as well. it's just ergonomically perfect.

Hey guys, if you like Super Monkey Ball I'd recommend that you check out Super Monkey Ball Deluxe for the Xbox/PS2, it is a mix of Super Monkey Ball and Super Monkey Ball 2, along adding new levels of it's own, having +300 stages total!
It's pretty damn great, and also has all the minigames unlocked from start.
I played the hell out of Super Monkey Ball 2, I need to get this one someday.
This was a fun game. Once you get to expert and beyond it gets amazingly insane
And the master stages are inhuman!

I know the feeling, I used to be a master but now beginner looks hard. Check out the one for ps vita, good reboot but so hard because of control stick.
you have to "one life" the hard mode to unlock the master levels.
the "one credit" is for expert mode.
