Hello and welcome to a full house tour of our new home!
I still can't believe this is where I live, especially since I've always been more of a city girl and now I live in a big old wooden house 30 min drive away from the Helsinki center.
In this video I wanted to show you around our new beautiful house, and hopefully I can give you an updated tour maybe in a year from now when we've got more furniture XD

Imo, you have the best of both worlds--city and country--where you are now. I think your plan to take regular trips into Helsinki is a good one to give you the stimulation and socialization you need. I'm a city girl too (Washington, DC, USA), but in DC it's hard to get anywhere in under 30 minutes, so think of that when your commute feels too long.🤣

It takes time to make a house a home, that's the fun of it.
I feel happy every time I see your videos. You express joy in everything you do and it is infectious! There’s a lot of creative inspiration in your new home and I am experiencing envy: specifically sink envy. Every breathing knitter wants one! I also love the brick/burnt caramel/curry color that not only are you wearing in your colorblock sweater, but every room seems to have a splash of it that really sings against the white. Knit on and enjoy!

I love the house, and the blue couch! It gives that corner a coffee house vibe, you should make that your coffee shop at home and add a TV to watch so you can knit in that gorgeous corner with all the windows. I'm so glad you're back, congratulations on your new home!
This is a truly AMAZING house, it is suffused with magic and charm and it feels like a hug from bottom to top, I am really jazzed to see it! One of the surprising plusses is where you can put your litterbox. I think you may have found a perfect spot for it and that is my one wish for our own house of dreams. The house we bought has a jaw dropping view out the back (for being in the center of Tucson, Arizona) but it was not designed to be kitty-friendly and we talk all the time about how we could make that happen. We have not come upon a solution yet, so we are pining for kitties and hope the future will have them in it. But your house is truly just right and it feels like you could hardly live anywhere else. My heart was so full to see the little deer towards the end and I sense all the lovely nature around you. This is a home where love will abound and the natural world is at your door to welcome you. 😻
II am so excited to let you know your knitting book arrived in the mail last week. I can actually look forward to winter in Canada because I want to knit everything in the book and it’s the best way to spend a long cold winter

Kika, you are so gracious and confident to give all of us an intimate tour of your new home. Thank you! Now we all want to be your neighbor/friend and have you over for tea and knitting. I also worked alone from home for a few years and learned how important it is to reconnect with others on a regular basis. Us humans are really tribal creatures and we need other people, even when we don't want to admit it. It seems you have a great plan and can easily do it. I expect you will quickly make friends with some neighbors, and they will be wise to welcome you into their little town. Best wishes !

What a lovely, charming and “homey” home, I love the mixture of old vs new….so very lovely! I really enjoy making a house a “home”, adding all of your own odds and bits, just adding to the charming beauty that is already existing.
Our home was also build in 1955 and has a lot of weirdly charming ness about it too lovely beveled glass original French doors separating rooms from each other, nice high ceilings and with the age comes a host of other age related problems (much like ourselves bwahahahahahaha) but all in all I wouldn’t change it.

It's lovely. I would paint the horns a thin coat of white and before it is completely dry wipe some off to let the gold peek through. I painted a mirror black and then realized it was too much and I went over it with white letting the black show through and now I love it.

I can empathize with your feeling of needing to be in the city center to be connected. I live alone and work at home and think I would feel lonely and disconnected if I lived more in the country. I find being in a lively neighborhood gives me energy but sometimes yearn for more space from people who are not considerate of being in closer location to others. Hard to choose one or the other situations! I love the romantic details and all the white floors/walls. I think the decorations and furniture pop more and it keeps it feeling light. Enjoy it! Looks like you will have fun with it!

I think accents in sage green or greyish blue would look wonderful and not to dark .
Pillows or rugs in a bit darker color blue , but not to bright so it will keep looking light and calm

It's a lovely house with a lot of potential! The kitchen/wood couch might work well in the glass entrance. A little landing place for people and groceries and things, for putting on shoes etc. Very Scandinavian! :) A slip over linen cover for the blue kitchen couch might solve the color problem.

I like the little blue sofa. One thing you might consider to tone down the colour would be to make a little slipcover for it out of a thin white cotton lawn. The colour would show through, but the sheer fabric would bring the brightness down.
