I bought the ic 705 for base and scope and you can use it for base or outside anywhere with hf vhf and uhf I'm a swl not an amateur I like the sdr functions are excellent love the s meter
@@onthebench3606 Thanks, I ask this because I have seen an used R9500 but some people clims that the R8600 is much better on HF. I will keep investigating then. I am mainly interested in catching faint signals, not digital modes, and I do not know in that sense which is better in that sense.

I also have a SDR Winradio Excalibur Pro that is quite good but the problem I have is that the PC speakers radiate interferences since the amp is in class A . I have tried to solve it but is not an easy task.

@@papierecriture the 8600 is better on HF from what I've read & heard.....but nowadays you really can't beat a good SDR!!

i find my 8600 works better as an sdr.i use mine for fm dx in sdr mode because they have disabled the filters on wbfm
