      DSLeicester It’s not a pool. It’s a tank for testing real life conditions for ships at sea

      DSLeicester There is no way they let people swim in that. This thing would overcome and drown even the strongest of swimmers.

      I was thinking that EXACT same thing man... I would have thought the water alone to fill it would cost 1/4 of that. :P they got a hell of a deal if you ask me.. or they arent telling us everything. Plus.. didnt they say it was built during the cuban missle crisis? maybe part of it was already in place?

      The 25 million was just to upgrade the wave maker from an old pneumatic flapper system to the computer controlled paddle driven system. The basin itself cost about that much to build back in the 70s.
