Yes..i thought to myself "i am actually fighting a god.." when the fight started with the music the cutscene and atmosphere and all which whole game was kind of a build up to...
Here's an amazing lore theory credit goes to Ryō Marika is a god who was sent by the Greater Will to rule over the Lands Between. She is linked/part of the Elden Ring. The Elden Ring is something that guides all life with multiple concepts such as life, death, time, gravity and etc. This Natural order became known as the Golden Order. The Elden Ring is located at the base of the Erdtree which connects all living things. The Elden Beast was the vassal beast of the Greater Will and the living incarnation of the concept of order. The Greater Will is an outer god and a fundamental force of the universe. The Outer Gods are external forces that influence the world. Mogh was involved with another outer god called the 'Formless Mother' who bestows power unto those with accursed blood. The Flame of Frenzy and the Scarlet Rot are also referenced to be products of the outer gods. Just like the Elden Ring is a product of the Greater Will. Godfrey rose up to become the First Elden Lord. Becoming the Elden Lord means becoming betrothed in a sense to Marika, most likely being chose for his strength. Godfrey has children with her: Godwyn, Godrick, Morgott and Mogh. People forget that Morgott's remembrance proves that he is part of the Golden Lineage which is Godfrey's offspring. That's why Godfrey appeared to be very close with Morgott since he's his son. However in a neighboring kingdom Caria, a prodigy in star sorcery Rennala became queen and attracted the attention of Marika. Marika then assumed a male form of a champion, Radagon. Radagon then seduced Rennala and had children with her: Radahn, Rykard, Ranni. Marika impregnated Rennala so that she could have more children that can one day replace her because she didn't have an Empyrean child with Godfrey (Empyreans are individuals that the Greater Will identified to be possible successors to Marika as the vessels of the Elden Ring). Since we learn that Marika somewhat hates her existence because she is a puppet to the Greater Will. And she was successful because Ranni was born an Empyrean. Godfrey later found out of this betrayal because she basically cheated on him. Godfrey was then banished (tarnished) from the Lands Between in the ensuing drama and because he's already finished his usefulness to Marika after ending the war with the giants. Needing stability and an Elden Lord to rule over the land. Marika told the people that Radagon would be her new husband. Since they were now technically "married". Radahn, Rykard and Ranni now joined the royal family at Leyndell. This explains why Radahn and etc. are considered Demigods when Radagon and Rennala are supposed to be humans. That's because Radagon is Marika herself who is a god therefore he made demigod children with Rennala. Now I don't know how Marika did it, some lore indicates she can split her body in two, one for Marika and one for Radagon but she was able to asexually reproduce with herself. The resulting children were both Empyreans cursed with an affliction. Malenia with the Scarlet Rot and Miquella who is stuck in a child's body. Marika however did not want her children to succumb to death so she removed a fragment of the death rune from the elden ring and gave it to Maliketh, her shadow and personal assassin. So that her demigod children may live eternally. Eventually, Ranni wishing to usher in the age of stars stole the rune of death from Maliketh and created daggers allowing the demigods to be killed. A ritual was performed killing her and Godwyn at the same time, she lost her body but kept her soul in a doll. Godwyn kept his body but lost his soul. Ranni wanted to get rid of her body because she wanted to deny the the greater will and her empyrean flesh. Since Godwyn and Ranni were first to die they each became halves to a rune of death. Godwyn's death became the final straw for Marika and she lost is at the death of her children. Becoming unhinged and shattering the Elden Ring. The remaining demigod children waged war and each claimed shards of the Elden Ring for power. No one won however and now we inhabit a fractured world without the natural order. As tarnished we are exiles who return to gather the fragments of the Elden Ring to restore order to the world. Whichever order that may be whether it be the age of fracture, age of the duskborn, age of stars, age of chaos and etc.
I gotta say this game has some of the best boss cutscenes to date. Margott, Malenia, Godfrey and then Radagon. Man I got chills when the screen cut to a close up of the hammer and a remix of the main theme bellowed out while the camera zoomed out on Radagon hoisting the hammer. Bravo man. 👏👏👏

I don't know why, but this 1:48 scene always makes me cry, listening to the main theme of the game while the final boss raises his hand with the tool that created and at the same time destroyed this world, staring at you without saying a word, because he knows what you are here for, and so you do: to finish this long odyssey that took you hours and moments of happiness, sadness, etc. It feels melancholic and empty, but exuberant and exciting at the same time. Without a doubt the game of the year.
Radagon is literally my favorite fight in a from gameI just love the black and white with bits of red and gold in the fight makes it very bleak but also really pretty
Lets look at the checklist 1. Nimble, seemingly humanoid boss with highly telegraphed but punishing moveset ✅ 2. AoE, delayed attacks that keeps you on your toe ✅ 3. Friggin lightning stake, lightning spear, and teleportation ✅ 4. Phase 2 is giant celestial winged worm with a sword and can fly ✅ Wow fromsoft, just wow...
I have to say it, from 4:38 on I couldn't help but be mezmerized by this game and its soundtrack. That transition and following score was something else
The Elden Beast is by far one of the most visually stunning things FromSoft has ever created. It’s such a departure from the withered god-kings and forlorn heroes we face as the last challenge, it is an eldritch angel in the form of the Laniakea Supercluster unleashing the calm might of the universe on us for having the gall to proclaim ourselves it’s rightful vessel.
Cutscenes gave me chills first time I fought him, and I had a very small grasp on the actual full story. But the design, music and lore of Radagon being a puppet for the greater will makes it amazing
beating these bosses back to back the first time solo was tough, but after putting down my summon sign and helping others fight it a few times, now the fight is SUPER fun. like it's insanely satisfying to dodge attacks i once thought were impossible to avoid.
This game is indeed a masterpiece. The last boss is literally something the player would never expect. You would have thought it would be the elden lord but instead we get a creature whos presence is unknown to us. A boss whos existence is out of our zone.
I sincerely doubt anyone would think anything other then "big reptile" from "Loch Ness Monster." This thing is straight up cosmic, Eldritch. But yeah Andre as a final boss turned out more badass than I imagined. XD
I think the last four boss fights of the game are all really cool, I just wish From could’ve spaced them out a bit more. The fact that you have to fight all of them in a row is pretty draining and takes away from the final spectacle imo
I disagree you spend most of the game wandering around and exploring the final 4 is sort of saying now that you are leveled welcome to deaths row and it’s punishing and hard just like every souls game couldn’t be more perfect
@@blaineskate9580 no it’s just the devs running out of ideas. It ends up ruining the ending because everyone hates elden beast not only because it’s boring, but also because you have to go through radingdong
the second phase is like that forest god in hayao miyazaki's film Princess Mononoke - that transparentness and the branches of lights within. Peak character design.
My thoughts exactly. I was like maybe Elden Ring might not win GOTY because from the comments Ragnarok had higher chance but best score should gone to Elden Ring. Winning GOTY and best direction relieved me.
This is cosmic level of boss battle. I haven't reach this point in the game cuz it took time to defeat some bosses and I think I'm not ready for this. 😆
The one problem I have with this fight is the Elden Beast will constantly zoom around the arena and not let me get much hits in, instead using all sorts of powerful AoE attacks if I’m close and long range lasers if in far, easily beating me out in the game of attrition.
His attacks also suck ass, he sometimes has 3 different attacks overlapping on top of each other and you can’t even tell what the fuck is supposed to be happening.
The elden beast looks weirdly dragon-like in appearance. Serpentine, with many wings, an animalistic tail and legs along with two somewhat humanoid arms, and the ability to spew "fire" from its orb-head. Its all very draconic. Combining that with the overall vibe of its design as a newly born, almost fetus-like creature, makes me think the elden beast was supposed to be the first dragon of an entirely new era. Its just like the cycle of ages in Lordran during the dark souls series. An age of darkness ruled by dragons, that was then stomped out and taken over by gods in an age of fire. Only this time the cycle was very nearly reset with the birth of the elden beast. Not being able to die was already enough of a problem in the world of elden ring. Being perpetually stuck between an age of dragons and an age of gods would have been true hell. Edited for grammar
"You will die Tarnished One, but it shall be a beautiful death." - Elden Beast Interesting that the Elden Beast uses what seems to be Gravity and/or Star-based powers almost similar to Astel, Naturalborn of the Void.

Something about the Elden Beast is just mesmerizing and beautiful. And with the soundtrack too, it really feels like some grand cosmic being that isn't necessarily good or evil, it just exists as something beyond comprehension.
Too bad the fight sucks ass
it immediately reminded me of the mysterious leviathan creature from the Bible. Which is interesting because if it’s similar to that, then you aren’t actually killing a God at all, you merely killed His cosmic pet.

Should’ve made them two separate bosses
They made Elden beat the final boss because after Radagon, the final boss IS the elden ring. The very thing you wanted, is the last thing fighting to stop you after you betray the Greater WIll and burn the Erdtree. It is the Greater WIll's final attempt to stop you from being Elden Lord.

Here's an amazing lore theory credit goes to Ryō
Marika is a god who was sent by the Greater Will to rule over the Lands Between.
Thanks for the summary
Now I clearly know about the whole lore, thanks king 👑

The Elden Beast is by far one of the most visually stunning things FromSoft has ever created. “What are we? Some kind of Elden Ring?”
hand me that thing your elden ring
The one problem I have with this fight is the Elden Beast will constantly zoom around the arena and not let me get much hits in, instead using all sorts of powerful AoE attacks if I’m close and long range lasers if in far, easily beating me out in the game of attrition.
The Elden Beast's behavior is equivalent to that of a Mage Build casual.
You just need to close off the distance to beat it.
End of story.
I had a hard time fighting the elden beast cuz I was just so in awe of it it was so majestic I couldn’t help but just watch it
