- Medical Dramas give a view into the world of medical care. I have been a patient before myself and even though I am a surgeon, from the perspective of the patient you only see part of the picture. That is what makes shows like this so fun, and Grey's Anatomy has been giving television viewers insights into the lives of doctors for 19 seasons.
In this video, I break down a situations where a patient dies while a resident is operating. This is an extremely rare occurrence. Deaths on the operating table for elective surgery are extremely rare. In trauma surgery is in much more common, but as you can imagine those are difficult situations to begin with.
I dive into the role that Morbidity and Mortality rounds play in a situation and talk about how they are important in the ongoing process of quality improvement.
If you took the time to read this description take the time to leave a comment. I read every single comment, and I respond to as many as I can.
I especially enjoy the comments that suggest something to do a video on, many videos have been inspired directly by the comments.
Thank you.

Can lawyers have a field day with this situation? I haven't watched the episode, but how the hospital addressed the shortage and then having this happen in the OR I assume this can easily escalate further.
Oh yeah. There would be a payout for sure.
This was a very entertaining & educational video! Please more content like this :)
Thank you. Let me know if there is anything videos or shows you would like me to comment on.
I love your videos! Very educational and entertaining. I was wondering if you could also react to Season 6 Episode 6. It’s a great episode with a lot of tension about a patient who died and the attendings are interrogating the residents to find out what happened
Second this!
May I ask what episode was this it’s been a while at this point there’s now going to he 20 seasons tomorrow night.
I’m having a cholecystectomy on June 30th. If ‘Schmidt’ is in the room, I’m outta there!
I hope everything went well!
@@f_imposter4715 Thank you! They actually had to reschedule because the Flu went through my house 3 days pre op.
How’d it go
I had my ileostomy reversed. They were able to go right in through where the stoma was. Went great, fortunately
Can you maybe do episode 16 of season 11 if you're going to do another episode pls
Could do it. What is that episode about?
This doctor is dadddyyyy😬😍
reconsider what you post on the internet
What a moron. Jfc
Greys anatomy to me just seems to copy the next societal “ issue” like SA or gender stuff( lgbt etc ) etc etc this is why I like house show very low drama and focus on both women and men issues not society “ issues “
As an Intensivist I feel for this guy. I struggled the entire pandemic with the guilt as you stated despite intelligently/intellectually knowing that we had so little to work with especially in the first wave. It is demoralizing when despite all our knowledge and skill a patient dies or doesn't do well.
Thank you so so much for everything you did and are doing
Great video as always!
Thank you for the support!
I’m surprised as someone with ocd Bailey didn’t handle it better.
Bailey is a very realistic surgeon. I thought she did a decent job with the situation, I agree could have done better for sure.
LOVE the name of your channel !
Do Scrubs next!
