You know what has gorgeous and amazing architecture that's never noticed or talked about? The intact parts of the city around the Well of Eternity. The design is freaking amazing. All the pictures of it focus on the green Well, but the architecture is *chefs kiss*.

It's an okay and valid opinion, mate. But the question is, are you liking it for the player housing aspect or because you had everything conveniently within walking distance. Because of the second party, the world felt isolated... And dude, it already feels that way often enough

i'm not going to believe it until Metzen or Ian are standing on the stage and him are the bulletin points "player housing".
untill that happens. *insert scene of Hawkeye standing in the rain as Natalie talks to him.' "Dont don't give me hope."*

For the warband backgrounds they could straight up copy like lost ark wallpapers and make tons of them for like old cities, old raids, certain zones etc (would love an eternal palace underwater one) have them unlocked in game via content etc. can even add some for like cutting edge or ahead of the curve. also they can do the same wtih the garrison jukebox and add music tracks from old raids or certain encounters or zones for houses so when you are inside or people visit they hear your favorite in game music etc and can apply the music you have unlocked to the login warband screen as well.

I have often been contributing to the idea of player housing in the WoW forums since WoD. I think it should be similar to Hearthfire, DLC of Skyrim. This is a copy and paste from one of my posts in the WoW forum
Player housing could expand the economy.
    Profession expansion and new ones:
    Professions to expand
Tailoring: Various items in the house or GH made of linens (practical or decorative)
Mining: Mining stones of various types. (marble, granite, quartz, etc.)
Blacksmithing: Various items in the house or GH made of metal (practical or decorative)
    New Professions
Carpentry: Various item in the house or GH made out of wood (practical or decorative)
Masonry: Using different types of stone to build structures.
Sculpting: This would be a sub-profession that branches off of blacksmithing or masonry
3a: Blacksmith sculpting: can make various statues, monuments, and other ornate things of different sizes out of metals
3b: Masonry sculpting: can make various statues, monuments, and other ornate things of different sizes out of stone.
Legendary questline to gain the skill to make sculptures of actual players. Good for a GH
Rooms of a house or GH:
Trophy room: like in WoD but can also mount legendary items.
Armory: Display various weapons, Manauqins to mount armor sets on.
    Profession-specific: Alchemy, enchanting, greenhouse, etc
    Class-specific: Mage, warlock, druid, etc.
    Cellar/basement
Pet arena (like garrisons had. part of the cellar perhaps)
Stable: Display a few of your mounts
Other common rooms: Kitchen, dining, living, bedroom
    NPCs to hire
Bard: Provides simple and tranquil music
Steward: Provide general services or assign to a specific professional role of some kind.
Pet healer: For the pet arena. (like in garrisons for instant rez.)
Caterer, Jester, and/or band for that big party (not ETC): Temporary, costly, GH only, and significant CD (once a month)
UPDATE: With Warbands, have some alts of yours wandering around your house. Perhaps assign them to a profession to be conducted in your house

In eso a lot of that cool furniture and some of the houses are locked behind crowns but something he doesn't mention is you can buy crowns off of other players with gold. And sometimes it's actually cheaper in crowns depending on the current exchange rate.
If blizzard implemented it they could change the wow token to give you 15 dollars credit on the cash shop and it would work great.

Or they could just make all items unlockable only in game and remove micro transactions to make the world feel more immersive and meaningful

Before I forget it, here's an idea for gold sink. Make sure everyone has access to housing, for obvious reasons, but make so that the visual ones, the houses that can be seen so players can show off their achievements are extra expensive and have a rent on top of them. That way, it'll constantly siphon some gold from those players that want to show.
The people who don't have that much money, still can do housing and everything, with no absurd costs.

I always thought the player housing in Asheron's Call was pretty good (seems rare for people to even remember Asheron's Call). There was a quest line you had to go through, items you had to collect, and an amount of money you had to pay depending on what kind of home you wanted (apartment, villa, etc). The only downside to that was that they were connected to nodes, but I feel like wow could do something with phasing to get the same effect.

ESO is good example but in wow you would have issues like very varying races and how to make some space fit for goblin and tauren to be a home where as in ESO all races are just different humans basically

The Warban screen to me already looks like a Camping area they could tie the player Housing area within the screen . The Warban could tie all your characters on different servers all to one area and they could make it like the trading pos . what mean maybe pick the Night Elf now like the trading post i can do things to upgrade the building and area around the house and you can still a enter point to the house in a city . With your different characters you could maybe build up the house and land or you have workers help build it could be instead of Monthy but weekly as the then after you upgrade it then you continue to do what ever to put furniture in the house then you could keep going say after the Night Elf you could unlock the Higmountain Touran furniture and so on or instead of player housing what about some king of Guild hall where everyone could meet i think guilds would love if they had a area you could meet and pick what you want to doasa Guild

the warband campsite is gunna be the "housing" and its gunna be like garrison where the options for the things are preset to the locations like placing stables and tavern in garrison but with no function other than aesthetics. i can see it being this. i dont think blizzard understands player housing. thats why they did garrisons as "player housing". i hope they learned but imo its gunna be garrison but for fashion in the warband camps.

They shouldn't. It's pointless and takes people away from the overworld, which we already have issues with (timewalking, sharding, phasing). This was one of the big issues with garrisons too. They /were/ a kind of player housing we got, and while useful, they made the gameplay experience feel empty, because every player was in their own garrison.
Not all things that are wanted are needed, not all things that can be done should be done.

Player housing is long overdue, but like Dragonriding I expect it to be at minimum as good as the best implementations of the feature in the market. I prefer them not adding PH at all than having a half-baked feature. Honestly, I want something similar in terms of customization to FF14 housing, and I believe the WoW team has the talent to do it. They might fuck up the systems gameplay-wise, but tech-wise they almost always excel.

Even if they do the housing they’re going to screw it up because all the furniture & fittings will be rainbows, candies, chocolate bunnies, unicorns, pink hearts, etc ... and boring stuff like plain fantasy wooden benches, etc...
There will be next to no faction fantasy where you want to deck out your house in Horde / Alliance / Blood Elf / Scarlet Crusade / Silver Hand / etc... themed banners, NPC’s, weapon stands, etc...
I’d rather they leave it alone until they get their shit together because whatever they deliver will be half-assed. They’re creatively lazy.

  • @tylermcnally8232

Blizzard cant deliver on hype. This will upset more people than it will be worth. People expect the sims level of house customization now adays, they cant even give good character customization...and theyve had that for 20 years.
