@@codylabelle1705 no.. I live on air. Do you own a theatre or a grocery store? Both are gouging consumers and inflating prices for no reason. There’s no “Supply Chain” problems because of the pandemic now but prices never did adjust back again. It’s more than just inflation, it’s being ripped off. It shouldn’t cost $100 for a couple and one kid to go see a movie and hit the concession stand. That’s not fair, it’s insane. Period. Cineplex just got a $38.9 million dollar fine for ripping customers off with hidden fees. Because of what their profits are, it’s not going to affect them at all. But they aren’t ripping their customers off in any other way at all…👍🏻
So my question is, what value add do we get for this $1.50? They save on employee wages. But no value add for the viewer. And they wonder why streaming services (and viewing parties) are so popular
I have not gone to see a movie since the very end of 2019. A lot of cinemas are shutting down because we don’t go to them anymore. Ticket prices are expensive and often times there’s nobody to go with you. They’re just not in the mood to go to the cinema like they were before the pandemic happened.
At home, I can pause while I get something to eat. I don't have to put up with someone coming in late or someone kicking the back of my chair. Plus, I don't need to get a bank loan to afford some popcorn.
They gonna fine every other business that charges a booking fee? How bout when everywhere charges a price plus tax instead of just incorporating the tax into the listed price?
They don't. When you look at ticket prices for an event it says the ticket price plus the added fees cost along with it, so you know from the beginning the total cost.
So drip pricing is illegal... But car dealerships get away with it all the time. The difference between sticker price and what you actually pay is about 8 hidden fees tacked on at the very end.
Having a booking fee isnt illegal - its how its advertised. Landmark shows the booking fee right from the beginning of the ticket selection process - even before you select your ticket in fact. Cineplex announces the fee right at the end. That's what drip pricing is.
I haven’t been to the theatre since the start of the pandemic in 2020 and when I discovered this new fee earlier this year, it really rubbed me the wrong way. This is a total cash grab. Going to the movies is already expensive. Will they charge a fee if you want to use the washroom next? It’s like some airlines charging you for carry on luggage and charging you different rates to check your luggage depending on the distance of your flight. Things are really getting out of hand.
right! i thought was funny to hes like a bunch of snacks and collectors cups is like $80. like ya thats where they make their profits is from the snacks and crap and collectors cups are always expensive
They will win the case; unless they fine every other ticket retailer or business that does this. Greed is all it is, and like they said, the consumer is the only one who can make this illegal practice end.
This is happening with most theaters. Some are direct with it with higher prices, others not so much, and scheme tactics like this. Also, Cineplex? Quality service? 😂
This is just a cash grab!! We shouldn't have to pay extra to buy tickets to the movie!! It is already INSANELY expensive to go and see a movie anyhow!! With a ticket, popcorn and pop and you are likely >$30 per person!!
I actually started noticing that when I went to buy a ticket for a show that it was $1.50 but even close to like two dollars too. I used to love going to Cineplex, but if they don’t think about their customers, I might stop going..
I see that extra charge when I want to order online and choose not to pay it in the end- I go in to pay. I understand it's for inconvenience. I don't understand how they can be held for fraud.
I have to pay a $1 fee because I’m a Scene+ member. It’s insane.
It’s only 1$
@@OneSockOff_95, if it's only $1, then why wouldn't they offer a discount for only $1?
I stopped going to Cineplex after they introduced those fees.
I WANT MY BLOODY SCENE POINTS BACK
During COVID I must have accumulated about 25 free movies, then when they changed the whole program I had like 4
The fee is removed for loyal members and then it’s an annual fee to be a loyal member. So dumb.
😂😅😂😅 😅 no wonder why my ticket was $44 online
Cineplex makes that $39 million in concession stand price gouging profit on a weekend 🤣
They are still doing it
Lawyers getting richer ,while the consumer gets nothing.
Should give back to the community in need.
The price of going to a movie is Insane
It's called inflation have u seen the prices at the grocery stores
Movie night Tuesday is a fair price.
@@Jackielocks and the price of everything is insane

Fack Cineplex. I haven’t gone there since there introduced that fee.
Where is that $38.9M going to go? Lawyers pockets?
Into the governments pocket of course. Like all fines paid by companies for exploiting consumers.
It's usually 2$ for me 😅

I’d rather rent a movie for 25$ and buy 10$ worth of snacks at the convenience store rather than going to the cinema where it’ll cost minimum 100$
I haven’t been to a movie since 2019 ..
It’s been 2014 for me.
@@brianwaldo2642Watched TF1 on Saturday… and was billed the online fee 🙁
Maybe we should also look into "service fee" and "convenient fee" charged for using parking apps.
Having those fees isn't the issue. That's what not drip pricing is. The issue is when during the purchase process the fee is announced.
CEO can’t buy his new luxury apartment this year, he’ll buy it next year
Imagine paying $44 for tickets then another $50 for the food..... Been watching at home since 2010

LMAO at the guy complaining about concession prices when he's buying "collector cups here and there"
Sell your shares now.
They gonna fine every other business that charges a booking fee? How bout when everywhere charges a price plus tax instead of just incorporating the tax into the listed price?
Cineplex has no real competitor so they raise the prices while offering nothing in return
So why is Ticketmaster still allowed to do this.
I thought the exact same thing
They just pay the fines and continue. Once a company makes enough movie, fines stop being a deterrent, and just become the price paid to proceed.
They don't. When you look at ticket prices for an event it says the ticket price plus the added fees cost along with it, so you know from the beginning the total cost.

If it's against the law what is there to appeal. This online option saves them millions on workers salary.
"Landmark" has a 1.50$ booking fee. How are they getting away with it ?!

Bedbugs. I stripped in the parking lot in front of guests after discovering my face, nose, elbow, ankles, shines, wrists were bleeding.
so who collects the fine? Better not be the regulator, those bafoons are the real crooks!

Make an example of them . They are not the only ones .
But, every company is doing that. Let’s sue them all , then.
Land mark is doing the same!!!
No they are not.
I love that I have a local theater in my town and they don't charge even close to what Cineplex does. Crooked company
Landmark does the same thing
I remember someone mentioned the online fee back then, I'm surprised this finally got attention and now they're still planning to keep the $1.50? Wth
Cineplex just won 1.2 billion dollars. I am sure they can afford it.
“Hidden fees are illegal in Canada” MY ASS!
Canada translates to hidden fees.
I know some mechanics that run like this lol😂
That’s why I buy my discounted tickets from Costco. But even after Covid I haven’t gone as much now
I deliberately went to the box office in person to save the $1.50 lol
Go after the 407 next. Camera fee, service fee, etc...
38mil is nothing. thats like having $10,000 and paying 10cents for a piece of candy.
best thing is to boycott until they stop this practice.

So, does that mean customers and Cineplex subscription members are entitled to compensation?
Canadian government is the best at collecting hidden fees
Ticketmaster next
the states is sooooo much better you get free refills for drinks n free refills for large popcorn. cineplex could never..
JUST LOVE WATCHING SANDY!!
why can airlines do this though?
Ticketmaster should do the same
Boycott them
You should look into Medieval times for doing the same thing.
Wait, so consumers aren’t getting any money back but it is federally illegal to charge how they were doing it? So where is the fine money going?
i go to landmark at least they got cheap tuesday
How about Ticket master
The money went to the lawyers?
How about the airlines? Why am I paying for seat placement

What rich person gets to keep the 38 mill since they won't give it to the rightful recipients, the consumers?
So airlines and Ticket Master?
Where is the money going to help consumers?
WAIT!!! Fees are added...
You mean like a Carbon Tax?
Eco fees, carbon tax, parking fees, ect....
Who got the money
Customers hot screwed.
But money?
Doesn’t everybody do this?! Is cineplex the only one taking the heat? Because they shouldn’t

Landmark is doing the same thing. Are they getting punnished as well?
So many other venues do this too

So where does the money go, the government 😮
