Would like to narrate a small story about my tryst with Casio. The year was 1987 and I was in the 8th standard. 2 colleagues of my father who was working in L&T were going to Japan for come official work, so my father asked them to get 2 Casio watches for me and my sister. Casio was a big name even back then. They brought 2 digital watches in stainless steel, what we call today as vintage series. Made in Japan, my watch cost 340rs and my sisters 320 back then. The watch was with me for many years, but one day I went to the temple procession during Sabarimala wearing the watch. We were singing and clapping for around 2 kms but when i reached home found that the glass had fallen off. Those days there was no way of getting spares and that's how my first encounter with Casio ended.
Bro as soon as I heard that movement sound I opened my cupboard took my dad's hmt jayanth para shock 17 jewels, I wound the crown as My dad used to do it in the mornings It's still runs like champ As you said ,that moment sound is music to ear, Glass have scratches Chain colour is worn out Still looks good I was looking to buy budget leather strap watch for me What I'll do now is Service this watch change the straps and use it , he had another hmt quartz watch it's with my brother, if I have not seen this video of yours i wouldn't have remembered I've gem in my cupboard Thanks I'll send you the photo after the service thanks ❤❤
AFAIK the only way to get original HMT mechanicals now is through collectors and by scouring small watch shops for old stock. I got mine from a collector. The HMT website will only sell quartz and some automatic versions. In yours, the dial is obviously aftermarket but I'm fairly certain the case is too.
It's an assembled watch movement is orignal 0231 dial is after market hands are from hmt pilot or Jawahar model the case back say WfT which means it's from Hmt factory number 4 Watch factory Tumkur

I love mechanical watches and prefers them over quarts analog just coz of the smooth sweep of the seconds hand and the sound. My ick with most quartz analog watches is that the seconds hand don't hit the marker! That just doesn't sit right in my head. And I love hmts for their size and they look classy. Owns and owned a few, adore them to bits
Congratulations for the watch. Well it certainly is not a fake watch but a fully refurbished though. The only way to acquire a legit driven out of factory watch is either through the HMT website or buy from a collector who bought it from the store back then. These watches are beautiful for sure but are not as accurate as the quartz watches since they either run faster or slower and on top of it they have very less water resistance and can take a toll if any moisture accumulates inside the crystal because of sweat. I had a Kohinoor not so long ago, however, i gifted to one of my friends who's least bothered about the accuracy. To me accuracy matters a lot and that was the deal breaker.
Of course, one can't go wrong with Quartz but owning a mechanical is about owning a mechanism that existed before the 70s with zero regard for accuracy. I do love a good refurbished watch and this one definitely is quality.
Hey Keertan - great you touched this topic for the new collectors…A few years ago I bought an original HMT Kohinoor New Old Stock from the HMT website…didn’t like it hence sold it on OLX at the cost price to someone who wanted it for his father…Cheers…!!!
The feel is the watch on the wrist was not that great…plus the loom really sucked…and the bracelet was a hair puller…sold it as I lost a little but the guy buying it was super happy as his father always wanted the watch…sometimes money isn’t everything….

I definitely will. Right now I want to test how long the full wind lasts. You can buy from them but they advise you to make an unboxing video. So, if there's any issue you can send back right away. In terms of long time usability, you have only their word to trust but based on the reviews I read of regular buyers it looks promising

I bought a Seiko and 2 HMT's from them. No complaints. And being in Mumbai can always go to their store for any issues. Thanks for making this video because I couldn't find any information about them before making my purchase.
After doing some more looking, I really like this brand! Franken or refurb or original, they look great. I don't know about finding them State side, but I would definitely be interested
You can always look for a reputable seller on Etsy- there are a couple good ones who ship worldwide. I will share on your reddit DM. Yeah, HMT heritage is what Indians are proud of- from 1963 in Collab with Citizen for the movement to eventually making the movement inhouse, movements derived from the original Miyota that powered their first watches
Can u give ur opinion on the "new duro" after the disappointment of new Casio duro I have seen they have a version named mdv-107 which has 200m water resistant n etc but no body is talking about it. Really appreciate your content man.

fortunately i have my father's hmt kohinoor with black dial, but i am facing some problem with it , the thing is it get faster after some time, it is my first and only mechanical watch so i don't know actually how to take care of, is it normal that it gets faster?(can be repaired ) or its just gone ?
Maybe take it to a local watch repair man and get it checked? There is a possibility that your hairspring is magnetized after years of use and just needs demagnetizing.
Bro maybe it's magnetized or may be it needs servicing..pls take it to a experienced old aged watchmaker in your city. It'll be alright within few bucks
Your watch needs to be regulated (take off the back cover and you'd see plus and minus symbol) adjust the regulator towards the minus symbol and it would slow down the watch and vice versa. The same logic applies to automatic watches.
One question that always comes in my mind ie. Casio vintage series like a158 a168 has resin body with plating ....so my question is does its coating fade after time??? Plz clear my doubt

If you are asking if it will go up in value - NO It's just for someone who wants to enjoy a mechanical watch with its original movement. With a quality leather or metal bracelet you can carry this for years and makes for a good formal wear

I think if there is a shortage of supply from the company itself then no harm in buying am/franken watches.
From what I read, they have ran out of old stock of parts since the factories shut and you can't find a genuine hand-wound watch anymore.

Original but refurbished. Accuracy is around +/- 45 seconds per day

Yes, with regular use the plating wears out showing the resin underneath but it will take years.
