PG: Magic SG: Pete Maravich SF: Larry Bird PF: Nikola Jokic C: Wilt Chamberlain Five players who excel at passing, Jokic slightly out of position to make way for the more defensive Chamberlain to guard the paint. Expect the ball to be anywhere but where you thought it was, except for eventually in the basket. Give me another all-time five who you feel confident would defeat this team, I dare you. ;)
I can't resist a dare. 😉 At the 1 - Magic At the 2 - Jordan At the 3 - Bird At the 4 - Duncan At the 5 - Kareem (That might be Nicola Jokic in a few years if he stays healthy. Time will tell.) No disrespect to Pete and Wilt. I saw them both during their careers. Legends. I can remember so many people in my home state being disappointed that Press wouldn't let Pete stay in Raleigh at NC State, where he wanted to be. I have no doubt they would have won an NCAA championship with Maravich. It would likely have changed his career in the NBA. Wilt was ridiculously athletic and strong - a phenomenal player. But he did have his weaknesses, which is why I went with Abdul-Jabar. Jokic himself said, "I'm no Tim Duncan."
@@MS-zv4bf Great lineup! Hard to go wrong when starting with the three faces of basketball in the 80s and 90s, when the sport grew international. I was initially looking at Duncan / Jokic myself, but decided if I was going for twin towers with Jokic, I wanted the greatest defensive force (who also happened to have league-leading total assists in 67-68) the game has ever seen, to compensate for Jokic's not-fantastic defense. Your team's weakness is one I tried to avoid - there is a lack of long-distance threats. Bird, of course, but of the others only Jordan has a solid chance at a three. I swapped Jordan for the Pistol not only for the assists, but also for the long-range scoring. That weakness may not matter, though...Duncan, Kareem and MJ are 17 rings to Wilt, Pete and Jokic's 3. Still, it would be an interesting match, for sure!
@c99kfm I wish I had a video game with those two teams! Now that would be fun. I much preferred when the 3 point shot was a weapon, a tool, not the primary go-to. We' lost too much of the mid-range game. I'm glad to see it coming back. I live a little over an hour from Ball Arena. Watching those guys and the great visiting teams up close hits different. MJP and AG are really getting better at getting to the rim. Then Jokic just does Jokic things. I leave every game SMH. My second team is in chalk. 🤣 But Wilt is firmly there. My earliest memory of him is the '57 NCAA Championship game between his Kansas team and Frank McGuire's Tar Heels. He even played a game at my NC hometown YMCA in a summer league championship. I feel lucky to have witnessed so many decades of my favorite game. I still play with the neighborhood kids, even though I shouldn't. lol! (I'm a petite 70-year-old with a bad back.) Thanks and Merry Christmas to you!
@@MS-zv4bf I'm with you on the threes making the game more boring, alongside the lack of offensive foul calls and the handicapping of defenders. Part of what makes Bird and Jokic so special is that I believe both would thrive not only in their own era, but in each others' as well. I'm a young (alright, middle-aged by now) Swede who came late to the basketball party, I only started watching (and then, only when it was available on Swedish TV) in the 90s. Charles Barkley's personality and Michael Jordan's athleticism had me, alongside most of the rest of the world, rooting for the Dream Team. I missed out on the Big Dipper, and even the Magic / Larry Bird rivalry, but I have been trying to catch up since, and TH-cam has been a great resource for that. Not only a civil basketball conversation, a civil *online* basketball conversation! A Merry Christmas, as well as Yuletide Greetings ("God Jul" in Swedish), to you!
The NBA MVP is meaningless if it doesn't go to the best player in the league. Just give a "MVP" to each conference and let it go to the best player on the #1 seed in the west and east. I'm so tired of the politics in the NBA.
Comparing Jokers stats with today’s players is fair, comparing his stats to the likes of MJ’s era is bogus. All players offensive stats are inflated today. So when we keep seeing offensive records being broken is largely due to how the league favors offensive and the lack of physicality.
Even though jokic is the best out there. If he himself doesn't care about the MVP award (which he DOESNT at all)then why don't we all join him in NOT CARING
Frog-eater Nick Wright and mock-player Perk imposed a previously non-existent narrative about the criteria for MVP selection. This is how this first one introduces the MVT category (the best team) by imposing the nonsense dilemma of MVP or MVT. We accept bids and this challenge under the sole condition that we see how much influence the proposed MVP candidate has on the play of the best second and third player in the team as well as on the overall state of affairs (attitude towards teammates, couching both on the bench and during the match, atmosphere, etc.) we will get the best picture. And let's not forget how the future and best playoff finalist of all time, Nikola Jokic, was robbed of his third consecutive MVP title in an extremely dishonorable and shameful manner and awarded to crying-pussy Embiid, only for him to completely justify what was said with his performance in the playoffs.
Really? There is no debate, Joker nail it,SGA is great, but he doesn't get extra credit for having useless teammates or an inactive management team. The NBA has already stolen his MVP once, simply because they didn’t want such a prestigious title to be awarded to a foreign basketball player. Let’s see how far the NBA can go this time with their shameless actions.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander should have won that MVP last year he took the youngest team on the west side to the first seed in an over stacked western conference. There’s no way in hell that kid did not get that MVP. I don’t care what Jokić is doing this season.
Shai is 26, people act like he is 20 years old leading a team of 17 year olds to the finals. Also the Thunder had like 20 1st round picks they used to build that team. Its not like Shai led the Portland Trailblazers to the 1st seed. - Shai also got the majority of his points at the free throw line. Foul merchant just like Embid and Brunson. - Also his +/- wasn't close to Jokic. Meaning, his team was still performing well when he was off the court.
@ literally the youngest team in the league and he had them 1 seed avg 30 it was there second bet players first year playing in the league, get fouled because people can’t stay infront of u isn’t foul baiting joker was the 6th seed and got mvp for no reason that’s why they gave it to embiid the next year should went to shai last year it’s simple
@ that’s not my argument, I gave u way the context and your choosing to ignore it. Denver wasn’t full of young guys with little to no NBA experience the team was healthy contending in the playoffs before Jamal got hurt. Not an apples to apples comparison at all and shai had the much harder road and better feat which got joker his other mvps, so should have went to shai no question
@@Dyce2k Thunder are a deep team compared to the Nuggets. We had the better starting 5. That's why we did better in the playoffs. Jokic was just dominating the advanced stats like no one has before. Most GMs would take the Thunder team over the Nuggets. Deeper and younger. However when talking about specific players, they would choose Jokic over Shai as he has more impact on team success. There is a reason Bruce Brown, Bones Hyland and KCP have not been as productive in their new roles. Jokic elevated everyone's game.
You put KD and he gets better results with the nuggets because he plays better defense The sun's are actually worse than the wizards when KD doesn't play the sun's are 1-9 and the worst defense in the league When he does they are 11-2 with a top 10 defense So I'm pretty confident in saying KD can lead the same nuggest team to 11 wins just like jokic has.
I see problem is that there’s a lot of people talking about basketball or if they have played it, they were only good at to win MVP. You should be great on offense and defense reason why the Denver Nuggets are trash is because the sensor they have provides no resistance to the basket. His blocks per game are worse than shooting guards. You can’t just play offense and MVP. He definitely does not deserve it. He’s a great player. We understand the game offensively but defensively he is a liability.
That’s a terrible take. He’s like the greatest floor controller of all time and runs the most efficient and effective offense in the league when he’s on the floor. Defensive is a second thought to everyone in the league. Jokic wasting a bunch of time to get one more block a game to please nobodies on the internet is absurd
You are clown who doesn't watch his games and is following 4 year old narrative. This season Jokic is in top 10 for steals, tied for 6th most. In all of his MVP seasons he was never liabilaty. Last year he was 13th in steals, tied for 5th most. In 2021/22 he was 12 in steals, tied for 5th most. So for years now, he is around top 10 or top 20 in steals. What you are saying are fake naratives.
@@TheJMan31it's a second thought to fans which is why they think Jokic is far and away the best player. And why they ignore the true flaw the nuggets have which is defense. Which is why they are 11-8 with jokic even though he's amazing on offense. Same reason they lost to the wizards. Instead of jokic being 30 /10/10 on offense it would be better if He was 28/10/7 with top 25 defense
He can't be the MVP when he was 11 wins the same amount of wins as KD when they both play. The suns are 1-9 without KD and 11-2 with him They have the worst defense in the league without him and they were top 10 with him. The nuggets are 11-8 with jokic and 1-2 without him. So both the nuggets and suns have the same amount of wins. Both jokic and kd contributed the same amount of wins at 11 The difference is kd only needed 13 games while jokic needed 19. When kd comes back and the suns have a top 3 seed by the end of the season people will start realizing it and kd will get his MVP like he rightfully deserves ans deserved a few seasons ago but did not olay enough games

The reason for the disagreement is because you keep comparing to somebody in the 90s we in the 21st century dues so why do you all not judge with what you see now and stop comparing with somebody in the past and Charles Barkley gave a good example Michael Jordan was in the league 3 years before he even got one because his team wasn't nothing now that was in the 90s we don't have to debate this here cuz you all keep comparing you going to always debate because of somebody that you saw in the past we're talking about right now Anthony Davis Giannis yolk it come on now we talking about them and this year right here that they played this year they're playing we keep comparing to what somebody in the past was doing this stage of their playing years and that's wrong it doesn't make sense Andover comparing the past with what you see before your eyes today this is 2024 going into 2025 guys we ain't talking about 19 what would that 9596 we not talking about that but if you going to keep comparing that's going to be all discussion always every commentator because you going to compare what was in the past to what you see before you now but how can you do that because the MVP player is right now the players you see not the ones you played with in the past or the ones you've known is on television in the past that's comparing and comparing always leads to disagreement and I want to call it agree to disagree
only racist narrative can stopped him from being an MVP, like Embiid did to him. 40 points difference between him on and off the court, it doesn't matter if his team somehow missed the playoffs, who the hell can do that other than him, ALL TIME ?
The race is not even close.... Its joker all the way. Hes elevated his game to another tier this season. Hes running the best historical offense when hes on the court this season. There is no debate as of today but could change since there is alot of season left

you have 1000 players and they are all good, but how do you get to the 3 best, based on statistics and not performance, so the best statistically is NIKOLA JOKIC, VERY SIMPLE
If he did a 360 then he went back to where he was... he did a 180.
No one is even close to Jokic, he is a team man, he has all the powers, he knows exactly what is best at every moment, he always plays the best option, he can do everything, that's why for me he is the best

Steve Nash Phoenix Suns 2005 62-20: Can you please repeat that sir?
the Joker 💯💪💪
Just give it to him at the All-Star break, so we don’t have to discuss it anymore. It’s over!
I don't understand why the discussion. It is clear that Jokic is the MVP
Now I get that jokic deserves the mvp but the runner up should most definitely be giannis they’ve been going on a winning stretch for a while now and it’s being swept under the rug
Wrong numbers he’s better now.
Just a tad behind. They change so fast! 🤷🏽♂️
issue i got with this vid that Gilbert is sayin at the start is that the People who pick for the NBA dont want a Three-peat of MVP's, so people than just settle in for second. Due after that he also said that Embiid shoudnt got his MVP titel, so its bit selective showing of the clips.
PG: Magic
SG: Pete Maravich
SF: Larry Bird
PF: Nikola Jokic
C: Wilt Chamberlain
Five players who excel at passing, Jokic slightly out of position to make way for the more defensive Chamberlain to guard the paint. Expect the ball to be anywhere but where you thought it was, except for eventually in the basket.
Give me another all-time five who you feel confident would defeat this team, I dare you. ;)
I can't resist a dare. 😉
At the 1 - Magic
At the 2 - Jordan
At the 3 - Bird
At the 4 - Duncan
At the 5 - Kareem
(That might be Nicola Jokic in a few years if he stays healthy. Time will tell.)
No disrespect to Pete and Wilt.
I still play with the neighborhood kids, even though I shouldn't. lol! (I'm a petite 70-year-old with a bad back.) I honestly have to teach them basic drills, layups, and what the box on the backcourt is for. They all want to be Steph out on the rim.
How nice to have a civil basketball conversation! Thanks and Merry Christmas to you!
If he himself doesn't care about the MVP award (which he DOESNT at all)then why don't we all join him in NOT CARING
its not 360 its 180. There is no change in direction if its 360. While 180 is the opposite direction
Joker - Joker - Joker 👑
3:37 The drama cut 😂
heated? jokic is running away with the MVP this year . not even close
Shaq hates Jokic cause if Jokic wins another he will be rank as a better center than him.
Jok's weakness is 3s of u dont do 3s you lose
Imagine if they robbed a blakie of a mvp 3peat.... RACIST NAMSAIN?
You crying about a basketball award is so pathetic.
Good points
It’s obviously joker
How is Giannis not in the thumbnail, in another year Giannis should be the clear favourite, except Jokic exists.
@@Dyce2k nuggets 1st seed '22-23, and Embid won mvp. how? if that is your arg.
Put any star player in Denver and the team will be on the level of Washington. Nikola is trying his best to drag Denver into the playoffs.
You put KD and he gets better results with the nuggets because he plays better defense
The sun's are actually worse than the wizards when KD doesn't play the sun's are
1-9 and the worst defense in the league
When he does they are 11-2 with a top 10 defense
So I'm pretty confident in saying KD can lead the same nuggest team to 11 wins just like jokic has.
He isn't blsck though? 😂
Jokić. MVP. Yes.
Mvp4 jokić the best player❤
Full 180, not full 360
90%oftheworldisdumb It's nice that you know exactly what you are because you don't fit into the 10%...
@@TheJMan31
good points.. especially the. terrible take . comment
JOKIC MVP ❤🇷🇸
Jokic is playing with the worst supporting cast in the league. Besides Braun, they're all an insult to the game.
aye mpj aint that bad calm down
@@nashl.4372 Despite all his talent and veterancy, he is just a mediocre role player that hasn't improved. He is bad. Not as bad as Murray, but bad
Dude. Insulting my man Jamal Murray.
@@Akkbar21 Your man is an insult to the game. Raise your standards of greatness. One hit wonders like Jamal don't make it in the hall of fame.
@@Akkbar21 There is a reason he's not an all star
He can't be the MVP when he was 11 wins the same amount of wins as KD when they both play.
The suns are 1-9 without KD and 11-2 with him
They have the worst defense in the league without him and they were top 10 with him.
The nuggets are 11-8 with jokic and 1-2 without him.
So both the nuggets and suns have the same amount of wins.
Both jokic and kd contributed the same amount of wins at 11
The difference is kd only needed 13 games while jokic needed 19.
When kd comes back and the suns have a top 3 seed by the end of the season people will start realizing it and kd will get his MVP like he rightfully deserves ans deserved a few seasons ago but did not olay enough games
They give lebron phony rebounds and assists and many others but not for their best players like Jokic. He averaging a triple double F dat
🃏5Mvp
What debate?! 🧐
Duck, I hope they beat the clippers tonight
Lol AD 😂
Of course Denver will end up at the bottom of the barrel so in that case it would make sense not to give him the MVP.
❤
Stop made outdated shit😊
Giannis is the MVP, not Jokic.
No
If you ain’t black, you ain’t the MVP. Lol…. I hate professional sports.
