    Thanks for your video. I bought a Sharp atomic wall clock about 18 years ago. It matches your A type. It still works accurately, but changing battery and restart was always difficult. It came with no manual or instructions. I'd reset it each time on trial and lots of error, luck and a prayer.
    But this time it kept coming out exactly 4 hrs and 10 minutes behind.
    So I came across this video of yours and it covered everything. I tried each option and finally was able to do a manual reset, with confidence. Old Ironsides is still working!
    I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

    I bought the UltrAtomic model to see if it would pick up the signal in Bogota, Colombia. I checked the WWVB coverage map and in theory it should receive the signal late at night when propagation is at its best. The first night it did not synchronize but I had it in a pretty bad location near computers and power lines and not facing towards Colorado. The second day I hung it from a wall facing WNW (towards Colorado) and more than 9 feet from computers and power lines. It synchronized at 8 pm local time (EST no DST). I was not expecting that! I am 3137 miles away from the WWVB time signal transmitter and 8300 ft above seal level. This UltrAtomic clock is extremely sensitive. Good job La Crosse Technology!

    As an electrical engineer, it's pretty clear to me that for the clocks that permit additional batteries to extend battery life, the batteries are connected in parallel to identically sized cells. (The AA movements put all the AA batteries in parallel, the Ultratomic clock puts two C cells in parallel, and then puts that pair in series with another pair of parallel C batteries).
    I don't think you stress enough - If you add additional batteries, they should ideally be all the same batteries from the same package. Even mixing identical batteries from different packages purchased at different times can result in a mismatch between the battery characteristics. Additionally, if you change batteries, change them all at the same time, and replace them with batteries from the same package.
    And, of course, alkaline batteries are recommended (both for the AA and C cells) because of their extended lifespans.

    We have a type B that has been, for the most part, working fine for several years. Recently it has begun to randomly set itself to different times randomly. (It never does find the correct time.) I've changed the battery several times. We live 9 stories up and the clock is on an outside wall. I don't think the signal is lost as we also have another La Crosse clock in the next room that works just fine. Do these movements just wear out? It's a nice enough looking clock that I'm considering replacing the movement with a cheap generic (manual-set) movement and calling it good. I considered the manual setting as mentioned in the video but that button is missing from our clock... just a hole where it should be...

      We apologize for any inconvenience, but this is a limitation of how radio-controlled clocks work. My old lacrosse clock died after 20 years and several drops off walls so I recently got a type b clock. I’m in MA and it’s on a south facing interior wall so I need to put the clock in a west-pointing window to set it. It got the time after a night or two and was working fine until Daylight Savings “spring ahead”. Despite being set to DST, the time didn’t change. So I put it in the west window for 48 hours, still no change. After watching this video I pressed the wave button and put it back in the window as it was moving to the midnight setting. Just checked a couple hours later and it’s now set itself, but it’s still 1 hour behind DST. What gives? Does the DST switch actually do anything? Frustrating.

    How advanced does the forecast operate on the weather station s84107?

    • @lacrossetechnology
      @lacrossetechnology  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Lisa, the calculations for your station’s weather icons are based on its internal barometric pressure reading. Keep in mind, these icons are designed to display a prediction of your weather to come within the next 12 hours, not necessarily your current conditions. And because weather can be a hard thing to predict, even for professionals, we cannot claim these to be 100% accurate. For most of our stations, these predictions fall between 60% and 80% accuracy after the first ten days from the initial startup. For more info, you can find FAQs, your product manual, and even a support video on our website here: www.lacrossetechnology.com/s84107?type=manuals -- We hope that helps clear this up, but please let us know if you have further questions.

    How far from Fort Collins Colorado can you be for this to work?

    • @lacrossetechnology
      @lacrossetechnology  ปีที่แล้ว

      We have customers using these in all four main U.S. time zones, and though distance plays a role, your specific home surroundings are often more important. For instance, if you live in a valley, are surrounded by buildings, or have other strong radio signals nearby, these can all cause interference, which can delay or even fully block this radio signal from reaching your clock. Moving the clock near a window, away from other electronics, and having the front or back of it face Fort Collins, CO will help increase its chances of catching this signal and having it adjust your time automatically (typically happens within 3-5 nights). We do apologize for any inconvenience. If you find yourself in a predicament where the time hasn’t adjusted automatically, it may be best to make sure to have your settings adjusted correctly but to also set the clock manually for the time being. This will allow the clock to remain at the correct time even if the WWVB signal is picked up in the future. More about how this signal works can be found here: bit.ly/AtomicTime

    • @lacrossetechnology
      @lacrossetechnology  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Georgia, we apologize for the trouble. How long have you had the clock powered on? As mentioned in the video, for the Type A Movement, you'll want to wait for the clock to receive the WWVB signal before the time zone buttons will move the hands into the correct position. This can sometimes take a few days, depending on your location. Once you notice the hands changing time on their own (no longer stopped at the 4, 8, or 12 position), that is when you'll want to firmly press and hold the Central Time "C" button until the hands begin to spin. This should set the clock to your current time. If you need any additional help with this, please feel free to reach out to our support staff here: bit.ly/contact_techsupport

    I have a LaCrosse Atomic clock. Every time when there is a time change (like today with Daylight savings time), I had to move the clock to the window to get the time 'adjusted' to the right time. Apparently, my living room is too far in to receive the WWVB.

    • @lacrossetechnology

      We sincerely apologize for the trouble. There are many factors, such as distance, interference, and location within your home, that can disrupt the WWVB radio signal reception coming from Fort Collins, CO. Had ours just over 2 years (404-1946-INT 18-Inch Indoor/Outdoor Classic Plastic Pewter Atomic Analog Clock) , then the temperature and humidity gauges start to rust up and don't work no more. Plus moisture got inside the clock face. So obviously not outdoor proof!
    Save your money. Certainly not worth $60!!

      As mentioned in the video at 1:18, spinning hands are either the clock adjusting automatically or a sign the batteries installed are under or overpowered. New alkaline batteries will often help correct this. For further assistance, please message our support staff directly here: bit.ly/contact_techsupport. Or alternatively, send us a private message on our Facebook: bit.ly/LaxTech_Facebook page.

    5 fking nights? Bro...

    • @lacrossetechnology
      @lacrossetechnology  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Leroy, we do apologize for any inconvenience. Moving your clock near a window, away from other electronics, and having the front or back of it face Fort Collins, CO will help increase its chances of catching the WWVB radio signal much faster. You can also simply set the clock's time manually if you'd like it display correctly from the start. Just be sure to have the atomic settings (time zone & DST switches on Type B movement) set correctly, as the WWVB signal will override a manual time setting. More about how this signal works can be found here: bit.ly/AtomicTime

    DO NOT buy these garbage clocks! They are absolutely worthless as they do not keep time, and they cannot be set by hand. I have 120 of them in my building, not one has the right time, and did I mention, they CANNOT be set by hand. All 120 clocks are now in the dumpster where they belong.

      @@lacrossetechnology I just reset 120 of them 3 days ago for daylight savings. Here's the thing, NORMAL clocks have a small plastic wheel on them that allows you to move forward an hour in just 3 seconds. Your special clocks, have no wheel, and when you put in a new battery, you have to wait a few minutes just for the clock to first reset it self to 12:00. THEN you can slowly set it to the right time. Again, NORMAL clocks take 3 seconds to set, your clocks, depending on the time of day, can take anywhere from 2-5 minutes to set. 3 seconds vs 5 minutes. 😀 As for the antenna function, I have 120 of your clocks, only 2 keep time. The other 118 dont keep time because they are not "in a window facing Denver" as required.

    You speak way to fast. Not everybody speak good English like you. Think of your non English customers. The clock is sold in Canada, please do not use WWVB or other letters that mean nothing. Canada is not part of USA. Also your notice included in the package is in English only. I made a big effort with the help of google traduction to communication with you.

      Hey Paul, we are truly sorry for the speed of this video. If you'd prefer things slowed down or sped up, TH-cam offers the ability to do this, simply tap on the three dots in the top-right if on mobile, or click on the gear icon in the bottom right if on a desktop. You should then see an option for "Playback speed" -- Use this to adjust the video to a speed of your liking.
