Hello! I am planning to get chinchillas in the next year, I was wondering wether is is a difference between a air cooler and a air conditioner, and wether or not a air cooler would suffice in keeping the room cool enough for the chins
I busy received a water bottle from MeowChin but my little boy doesn’t seem to understand how to use it. I’ve read their tips & suggestions.. but still he hasn’t used it. Do you have any other advice on how to get him to use the water bottle??
Some of my chinchillas picked it up right away and some it took a while, like a couple months. What I did is I put the old water bottle with the ball and the new stick water bottle next to each other in the cage and each time I washed the water bottles I would flip flop their location. So for example I would start off with the stick water bottle on the right and the ball water bottle on the left. and then the next day move the stick water bottle to the left position and the ball water bottle to the right position. After a while I slowly move one of the locations farther and farther away until finally taking it out of the cage. I think this worked because my chinchilla preferred to only get water from that one location. Hopefully this helps!
Quinn and Piglet live together. They are the two white chinchillas. Lola and Malley were living together but starting fighting. So they needed to be separated. I plan to try and bond Bunny, my new chinchilla, with Lola when she gets older. I, for what ever reason, prefer females over males but I've never owned a male chinchilla, so I can't really talk. I just never want to deal with fur rings with male chinchillas. So I just stick to females.
I'm so upset because i got a chinchilla 3 months ago and he seems to like me right? He will walk all over me and is not shy but i'm just so angry because he won't let me touch him or anything. i cant even give him chin scratches. I cant hold him or anything. The only thing he does is bite me and bark and refuse for me to come near him. And i just don't know what to do. i spend all this money to give him a happy life and let him run around my room and get him chew toys and stuff and he just wants nothing to do with me. It's pointless to even have him anymore because he doesn't even be apart of my life
Chinchillas are prey animals and tend to take a while to warm up to humans. Even then chinchillas are not like cats or dogs. They are not cuddly animals. Many do not like being held or pet, but that does not make them pointless to own. You can create a wonderful bond with an animal without physical touch. It will depend on the chinchilla and what they are comfortable with. However, with bonding with your chinchilla your need to take it slow and stay within the comfort level of your chinchilla. I give a few tips in this video: th-cam.com/video/69c5QPmJsdY/w-d-xo.html Also for the biting, If you have a young chinchilla, they tend to be a lot more mouthy until they get older; however, chinchillas also use their mouths to interact with the world. So a little biting is not uncommon at all.
@@ChinVillain Yeah i guess i'll just have to accept that but he does seem to like me he crawls on my head a lot and he'll give me small nibbles on my hand when i go see him at his cage and he'll chatter his teeth and stuff
@@Geniexo Yea my pair of chinchillas, Piglet and Quinn, hate being picked up or pet. They rather interact with me on their terms. They are the boss. HAHA
Heyyy my new chin is very healthy and jumping around like the bad little chin he is, but recently I’ve noticed that he has one broken whisker, it’s bent while the others are perfectly smooth. Should this be a problem? 🥺 and also when I try and pet him he always stays still (I’m not sure is it because he enjoys it or is it because he’s scared) but when I try feeding grass to him he bites my finger (leaves a little mark) and does that mean he doesn’t want me to feed him? I’m so new to this whole chin thing and I just hope that he’ll soon wanna play with me 😔😔
His whisker should be fine. I am not sure if he likes being pet or not. He could be scared and not moving or he could be use to it. He should not be eating grass. He can eat timothy hay but not grass. No fresh fruits or veggies for chinchillas. Also, if he is young, most likely he is going to be more mouthy for a while. They use their mouths to investigate the world.
