Canberra was such a beautiful big ship. Must have been an incredible sight.

Fantastic footage. Hopefully, we will see Maid of the Loch plying successfully next season. Still prefer Sir Walter Scott as shown in this footage than with the - undoubtedly more comfortable - shed! Many thanks for sharing.

Some well shot footage, quite rare; of the Comet replica, which would be 1962 I think, the hoverfcraft and Princes's Pier; all in colour.

Seeing the PS Caledonia in this video I wonder if she had been preserved instead of Waverley would the temptation to have been to construct traditional paddle boxes for her?
Has anyone constructed a digital picture of how she would have looked like in her new guise?

6:27 is that Greenock Princes pier railway station? Still extant at that time. It would make a great cruise terminal now.

Did a trip on the Maid of the Loch at the end of the 60s and a rope got caught up in one of the paddles which meant we were stuck out in the loch for ages until it got freed, we drank the bar dry!

My Mother worked on the Maid. I spent many summers on her in the 50,s
