Was able to replace the heater and thermostat relatively easily due to your clear, concise instructions. Thanks!

My Thanks to you for this much needed tutorial. I have the same exact GE Model and problem you are working on in the video. I ordered my parts on Amazon for $20. Thanks to you I will be able to fix my refrigerator. I will use solder and heat shrink to attach the thermostat, as this will insure the wires are sealed and safe from moisture.

      Are the parts very expensive

    • @GalloPazzesco
      @GalloPazzesco 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@lisagast4616 they were not (the parts were not expensive comparatively speaking). They were a fraction of the price of calling an appliance repairman or buying a new appliance, especially these days.

    Good video, a little feedback.
A - Why did you cut thermostat wires back so far, always leave yourself as much wire to work with as you can in case of issues.
B - NEVER EVER USE A HEAT GUN! It warps plastic and damages the product, always use a steamer.
    Other than that. good job.

I don't know what you meant by line on that blue plug.
I measured between its blue wire and the number 9 poin on that J7 plug, it read 147 Ohms.
What does that mean, I don't know.
The diagnostics I stumbled on says at least 22 Ohms. if you are reading that, meaning yes then that will lead you to inevitably replace the board but if the answer is no, it will lead you that the control board is good. check thermoster, etc.
So what does "at least mean" ?
Is my reading fall in the " bad control board" or bad sensors?
My heater reads 147. I checked another heater in my garage and it also reads the same value. They don't read 10-20 ohms.

If the heater is open will it cause the compressor not kick on? Was working manually defrosted everything. Heater will be here in a few days. So will the freezer not work with open defrost heater circuit? My thought it was freezing but not defrosting should do the same without heater installed? Have 120 at j11 and j7-9. No 120 at j8 and j7-9

On a GE side by side PSC23SGMDBS, is it possible to totally disconnect the ice/water dispenser BUT keep the ice maker working?? I prefer to just open the freezer door for ice. I've had many service calls on the dispenser. It makes noise, drips, causes accidents, mess, and sometime stops the freezer from staying cold enough. Thanks.

Hi , I have a GE side by side, model # GSH25JSRF SS. My freezer one day seems fine and the next day it doesnt. It will make ice, only to see the ice melting later on, then it wont make ice for a day. The frozen food starting feeling soft, and the ice cream wouldnt get hard. I have checked for continuity on the defrost heater and the thermisters and they have continuity, I did the test in the motherboard to see if the thermostat is good and it is. I saw the damper moving, i saw the heater get cherry red, I hear the evaporator fan running ( I replace it about a year ago), I cleaned all the dust off of the compressor, I see the fan running at the compressor. The lights work. I cant find anymore DIY videos to check to fix it. I dont know what else to do. Please Help! Thank You!

How do I find the schematic for my control board? I don't want to replace parts that I don't need to replace. I know my defrost heater is bad because I tested it and there's no continuity. But I need to test my thermostat from the control board so I wont have to take it apart from the inside. The only thing I was able to find online was the owners manual. No diagram for the board tho

I'm just curious on why you didn't cut the wires for thermostat closer to the thermostat vs closer to the back wall, this would have left a little more wire for future replacements, etc. (aka a service loop) ... better yet this question is for the manufactures, why doesn't the thermostat have a plug on it at that spot to allow for changing it vs. cutting the wires??
Edit to say, I kind of see why he cut them so short, but I would have left a little extra personally... another thing is instead of using electrical tape, I'd splice them and use some heat shrink tubing as that would have been a better seal.
