JT wasn’t the best when he got here but Norvell gave him a chance. Tate has been here for 4 years and per his father he could have transferred out a long time ago but he stayed because he wanted to be a QB for FSU. Tate has the heart to lead this team and I have faith that he will. #finishfor13
Norvell didn't give Travis a chance. Travis earned it. Norvell tried numerous times to give someone else a chance and he had to keep coming back to Travis.
This is his destiny! He has waited 4 long years and now he can be the star and finish off this undefeated regular season. There is still work to do! Go Noles!
Great stuff as always! You've convinced me enough of Tate's potential over the years that I'm more excited rather than nervous for the game on Saturday. I had a buddy make a good point about these next few games with Tate at the helm. It will have a big impact on next year, particularly transfer recruiting. If Tate shows out, Norvell can sell playing with him to transfers much like he did with Jordan Travis.
I agree with your assessment of Tate....If his pocket awareness is above average, and he avoids multiple sacks, the offense might find another gear.....his arm talent is up there.
That was a thorough and thoughtful analysis. This fan is impressed. I hope Tate sees this especially the mental part. Growth is the key for him and I am hoping his growth coincides with continued Seminole success.
Excellent analysis. I do believe, as you suggested, that Tate is more of a “Norvell” style QB than Travis. Tate was in line to take the reins this next season; he’s just being started a little earlier. I said Travis was better than Charlie Ward and I think that has held up. Interestingly, Rodemaker makes me think of a Weinke/Rix mashup. Pocket presence like Weinke but athleticism like Rix. I anticipate some surprises moving forward.
Great breakdowm!! In my view he just has to not lose the game for us…. We have playmakers to make it easier for him.. as long as he dont lose it for us we will be fine!! Go Noles!!
@@XsandNoles Facts!! UF defense is horrible but i do think this is one game where we need to get up early and quick and not wait for the counterpunch.. we are a counterpunching team but we need to jump on them early this one
I think Tate throws a better ball, scans the field and can see over the line. Just wish he had a little more core strength and mass to quickly move out of those pockets when needed imo. Nonetheless, he is a gunslinger. Go Noles🏈🏈🏈🏈
Give Tate more time to gain confidence with in-game experience and I think we will see him flourish. Even last year against UL he struggled at the start but improved with experience. Great video as always Kevin!
Nice breakdown and analysis. This was pretty damn good. I've always like Tates arm talent. It was just his football IQ and decision making. I know he can make all of the throws. One thing I hope he and supporting staff have corrected is staring down his primary. Any HS or collegiate QB should have watched plenty of film on Brady and titanic head Manning. These two are goats and were mega-cerebral.(not a real thing) They moved or controlled defenses with thier eyes and vocal inflection and BS pre-snap jargon. Those two and thier WRs were always in sync no matter down and distance or situation. Tate will take us as far as we go. He will see all kinds of pre-snap looks, mixed coverages and hella blitzs. I'm not concerned with his arm, it's his IQ, eyes and legs and his ability to utilize them over the home stretch. I'm rocking with Tate. And we have Brock on standby. "We all we got, We all we need". Believe that
I just got that feeling Tate is gonna light UF up! God knows I love JT as a player and person, but I do feel JT was trying to protect himself from what ended up happening. His balls in games weren't accurate when feeling pressure, and his mechanics were off when he saw pressure. I also felt he would look over the easy completions or not see them looking down field for the chunk 5050 play. We also gave him read options, and he wouldn't pull it unless he was in the redzone most of the time. Its other key factors to why the offense seemed stagnant at times like the O-line, but these things didn't help. I do believe Tate won't hold back and take what defense gives, giving our playmakers a chance at YAC! This will ultimately open up the run game for sure or the big play over the top! JT didn't seem to settle into the game until the second half, which he dominated!
@Beardedlegacy1 Really wrong! That's why I was created a man and never trust my feelings 😂... Mike has to turn Tate loose and do better with the play calling. We got away from tempo, using the middle of the field, and got to predictable! No slants, crossings, tight end usage, or at least a threat of Tates' legs with RPO... The offense was hard to watch and gave me anxiety! I'm glad we won though. GO NOLES!!!
Don't underestimate the heart of our 23 Noles. Especially now since Jordan got hurt. I'm looking for a determined FSU team tomorrow. When Mike says the team is built for this, he means adversity, and lion hearts. Go Noles 🏹💯💥

I’m confident Tate will be just fine! Sad 😢 for JT but I think this team will rally around him and go out perform our next 2 opponents. After that we will see what happens with the CFP! Go Noles!
@@XsandNoles If you gamble you start trying to use predictors and a QB going down is fools gold. Another reason is cause the backups are a huge unknown for everyone especially the defense
Great breakdown as always Kev! The plan for Saturday should be to emphasize attacking UF’s defense weaknesses. Knowing what you know about Tate and our weapons, how would you attack the weakest links on defense? Happy Thanksgiving 🍁!
I wouldnt change much. Use RPOs to get easy completions and open up the run game. I would throw in a healthy amount of screens to get bell/backs in space
Jordan had a pretty rough start here too. His legs saved disaster many times. One very important thing to remember is while Jordan has been leading this team, Tate was learning. Mike bringing in Milton, imo more as a teacher in addition to watching JT and holding down the back up roll. It was an intense battle for the number 2 spot this past off season. Mike has alot of packages for Tate. He was unexpectedly thrown into the battle being down and a bit big eyed in the game last week, but he began to settle in. Look for a more prepared Tate this weekend with some nice distribution of the ball. JT will be there for good advice. I see Tate settling in and having fun, yes it's still a fun game but a serious game. Go Noles 🏹💯💥
Cool video. I was skptical about Tate because I hadn't seen him play, but I trust Norvell and Tate wouldn't be in there if he didn't give FSU the best chance to win. The other Freshman QB seems to be just as skilled, but lacks any experience. The rest of the team has to step up. It all just can't fall on Tate. OLine has to block, running backs have to get yards, Defense has to lock things down. All Tate has to do is not turn the ball over.
Tate spreads the ball around better which keeps the defense honest. The line will be the reason fsu wins or loses this one since we know Tate throws ints under pressure.
He’s seen time in 5 games but he has it in him under pressure. His MO was always pick first then settle down. With the pressure UF will bring I fear the old Tate will resurface.
I’m looking for Tate to go long, more than a few times. I know Coleman is a great receiver, but I don’t know just how fast he is, on a fly, or a post route. I’m betting on a lot of 20+ yard passes from Tate. We REALLY need the O-line to give him the best protection possible. You know the Gators are going to be blitzing all night, trying to rattle Tate’s cage. I also look for Benson to explode Saturday night. Go Noles!!
First we need to be real about Jordan. He’s been very good this year. But he hasn’t been quite as elite as we had hoped. He didn’t run much and he didn’t really run exceptionally well. He did a good job buying time in the pocket. In terms of throwing, Jordan kind of took a small step back this year. Will Tate be able to absolutely replace Jordan? Obviously not. But he can do things that will lead to success. Give him easy reads and decent protection, and the offense can score points.
Great breakdown But I think will be fine with Tate We have so much talent on this team And I think he spreads the ball around a lot better than Jordan dead. Although that's not knocking jordan it's just my take. GO NOLES!!!
imo, at least 50% of the outcome will be due to how well or how badly... fsu handles Florida's blitzes. FSU should assume that fsu can't stop it that often, and scheme accordingly with things like quick short passes and screen passes that burn the blitz. How well FSU executes that, is at least 1/2 of what determines the winner in this game. If that goes badly, a lot of other things have to go very well for fsu to compensate, to win.
Im not hearing one key factor which i think is a plus. The receiver room this year is just insane. FSU in the past has been horrible. We saw a good increase in productivity last year, but this year with the add weapons from the transfer portal. This will make Tates decisions easier. I think Travis missed a lot of opportunity this year because his arm isnt that strong. In the passing game i think Tate is actually better, with a huge difference in arm strength compared to Travis. I dont think Tate is the question mark, Its the OL. Is this line good enough for Tate.
He has the weapons. He needs to say to himself get the players the ball stay in my game plan. He has the arm talent. We need the mind to translate on the field
I don't think Norvell will do so. But Tate should start. But I believe Brock Glenn should be brought in on occasional series to give that threat of more of a qb run
