Thank you very much for these videos. I live in South Africa and we struggle because as an Afrikaans learner I don't get any classes in my home language anymore because of the government. Your videos have helped a lot. You explain much better than my teacher who also explains in English.
because of the government? The government has plenty of wrongs, but it is not forcing Afrikaans speaking people to loose their basic human rights. South Africa is for ALL. There are plenty of schools that speak a variety of languages as a medium of teaching,, I would say more but lets celebrate and thank the organic chemistry tutor, no need to put out a false narrative, that has no facts nor substance. -A South African

I'm learning this before class because I want a better understanding as I don't have a strong grasp of electronegativity, you single handily taught this!!!
I believe the electronegativity follows the below order. Ne > F > O > N >= Ar > C > Kr > Cl > Br > S > Xe > Se ~ I ~ Rn> other elements..... Helium's EN is very difficult to predict. Its should be less than that of oxygen.
@@forlearning7352 No. They have relatively high electronegativity. XeF2 will be ionic if they have zero EN. They are reluctant to form bonds. However it doesn't mean that they have zero EN.
Professor Organic Chemistry Tutor, thank you for a beautiful explanation/Introduction of Electronegativity and Periodic Trends in AP/General Chemistry. The ability of an atom to attract to itself the electrons in a covalent bond is described in terms of electronegativity. The greater the electronegativity of an atom, the greater its affinity for bonding electrons. Electronegativity is always a positive number. This is an error free video/lecture on TH-cam TV with the Organic Chemistry Tutor.

I know, your Professor is probably is a wise guy nerd who makes something simple like this a whole lot more complicated than it should be to make him/her sound smarter. If he/she was actually a smart Professor, it would be explained in a simple fashion, making it seem as if it were not hard at all.
Hi, if the first two pair of elements (Cr and As) have an electronegativity difference of 0.4, are they nonpolar covalents? If so, then I am confused, because I thought covalents could only be non-metals bonded to non-metals.
