      I knew everything that was named, including Pulmonoscorpius (Pulminoscorpius? ARK confuses me), Tupandactylus and Pachyrhinosaurus.
      Kind of ashamed I forgot Hallucigenia's name though. I also expected Wiwaxia, although I suppose it's not so special compared to some modern animals.

    I think it's a good thing that you've added Opabinia and Stethacanthus as 'buddies' for other creatures on this list. They are similar to the ones that are on the list, but still different enough that it would be a shame to let them go unmentioned.

    I can name one that you missed! Back in the Ice Age, Australia had some of the strangest Mega-fauna ever, but few came close to Thylacoleo carnifex. Australia has never been home to any carnivorous big cats, but this predatory marsupial didn't get the message and there's no doubt that during the Pleistocene, it filled the slot pretty well. In fact, its name "Thylacoleo" literally means, marsupial lion.

      For the people who don't know why Anomalocaris was named 'abnormal shrimp';
      When Anomalocaris fossils were found, scientists believed they found three creatures. A type of shrimp (this was one of its grabbers), a type of jellyfish (its actual mouth piece) and something I don't remember.

    Here are some more Odd creatures of the extinct world;
    Hatzegopteryx, Think Quetzalcoatlus but bulkier, slightly shorter, and nearly too heavy to fly. The worst thing is that the monster preyed upon sauropods. The beast is only found in european countries, which were islands at the time 70 MYA.
    Atopodentatus, Which a flat mouth, odd teeth and rounded claws, this aquatic reptile was one thought to have a split in its jaw, which we know know to either have been cause by the crushing of the jaw or a deformity in the animal.
    Mamenchisaurus, With the longest neck of any sauropod, this beast which could grow longer than a blue whale was one of asia's most weirdest and coolest dinosaurs

    • @jacobschmidt2771
      @jacobschmidt2771 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    4: 24 That's actually not a eurypterid. It's just that at that moment in the TV series Prehistoric Park that that scene is taken from, Nigel Marven talks about sea scorpions, and makes sure to mention that this creature isn't one of them. It's actually called Pulmonoscorpius, and was a giant true scorpion that lived on land in the Carboniferous 320 million years ago. Also, eurypterids are relatives of spiders, not their ancestors.

    "Eurypterid" refers to all animals in the order Eurypterida, which includes Eurypterus, Pterygotus, and Jaekelopterus. The one you show here seems to be Pterygotus.
    That one in the guy's hand though, that's actually not a eurypterid at all, it looks like Pulmonoscorpius (or a close relative), and it isn't even in the same class as eurypterids. They're both chelicerates, but Pulmono was an arachnid while all eurypterids were merostomates.
