- The IS-3 in War Thunder was once Top Tier. Now it sits almost right in the middle as a former relic facing modern era vehicles, HEAT-FS, APFSDS, Laser Range Finders and ATGM's.
What was once an almost invincible wall of steel is now reduced to a giant Silver Lion Pinata. Today, I take the IS-3 out to revisit it to see if it still has the metal to stand up against the new War Thunder Meta!

The IS-3 doesn't perform the same way in World Of Tanks but it has also been powercrept over there. But even with its drawbacks it is such a beautiful tank that i'll forgive anything about it

@@darthr5364 kuge is capable to kill efficient a M41.. and can easy exile an BMP-1 .. +side shot some M48....take barrel of t44-100 etc.. is efficient.. if you want to defend your self and not be aggressive.. after all is the last defense zone.. is the anti air.. not the heavy break through tank.. or the medium flanker.. is just an anti air.

Russian tanks are known to be very small compared to most. The IS-3 is almost 2 feet shorter than the Tiger 1!
IS-3 and IS-6 are very small tanks compared to allied and axis tanks. Look up size comparison of T54 and challenger for example. The T54 looks like a toy tank.

so .. i believe you have to know your enemy to kill your enemy more efficient ..if a soviet team snow balls your team.. you lost the game from the first 4 min.. in .. without any option to return.. in game.. if the soviet team is holding back the game will be long and will be hard to win.. if you crack the soviet team.. in to pieces will crumble.. just like that.. cause the most of the people move to the same cap.. or area.. is easy to see how the match will go from the first 4 kills in the feed

God tier armor for the US???Lol Panthers and King Tigers are better armored than their US counterparts.76mm has only a couple mm more pen than the gun Germany has access at 3.7.That’s a bad take.And besides M18 and M36 US doesn’t have better mobility than Germany,i’d say on par.

You should play the su152 basically a kv2 but with a much faster reload i personally have alot of fun playing it.

But because of the volume matric, the shell just gets caught on some little plate, it's very annoying. I played it on 7.3 and failed to pen Leo 1 side

I don't understand why gaijin doesn't just have the air spawns set as.. props start at 7km and jets at 14km and maybe a middle ground for early jets as some arn't overly fast. such a simple fix instead of making props fly so far on some br's and jets spawn so close on others.

That Chadwind II in the winter match was the real hero.
That makes sense actually. I think a lot of the vehicles people struggle with could actually be really good with proper support and co-ordination with team mates.
For some unknown reasons they die pretty easily to the 150 mm 1.0 br spa... even if the armour simulazion says that they are resistant to HE shells.
After is1 is2 and is2(1944) i absolutely loved is3, it's a relief to reach until is3

Came back after almost a year because I got a kill on one last night with an HE shell from the M109. I didn't think that it would kill it and it popped up right in front of me, I shot purely from instinct and hit the top of the turret and overpressured him
This thing is a 1 tank army in the right circumstances. I managed to retake caps that were abandoned by my team on my own against more than a few enemy vehicles.
IS 3 is an amazing tank
Honestly I'm suprised how many players fear the IS-6 more than the IS-3, especially Tiger IIs. With good aim you can one shot or at least cripple the IS-6 with a shot to the turret front. This thing tho, it a pain to face in a Tiger II, no good places to shoot frontally except barrel, which just feels bad.

One of the most overhyped tanks by devs in all tank games. In reality it got slapped to shit by 76mm cannons from left right and center.

Bane of my existence, when I do the protection analysis of the is3 against my tank it says it can pen all but a few places on the front, (using a 120m with 480mm pen) but I swear 80% of the time I shoot it I get no pen or shell shattered or if it does pen XD It does no damage, I have to side shot it
every time i play the strv 81 the two tanks i fear are pershings is 6 and that nightmare
The IS3 is a perfect Soviet tank....it's like a 600 lb neckless Soviet Olympic wrestler who body-slams every opponent while shouting, "I will break you!"

the allies Britain, france, and the usa feared the is-3 when they first saw it there best tanks the us m-26 pershing with a 90mm gun and the centurion with a 17 or 20 pdr would not be able to defeat it frontally at long range so the us created the m-103 and the british the conqueror both had 120mm guns the french did try to make a tank to take on the is-3 that was the failed amx 50, the is-3 was given armor meant to withstand hits from the 128mm gun of the jaghdtiger

What is the metal ring behind the commander's gun for? It's not like anyone could stand or sit in it.
So you can be in the centre of it and swing the cannon around 360 degrees rather than be limited to a fixed cone of arc.

Same standard T-32 should be 7.0 and T-32E1 should be 7.3.
I don't get why the KV-85 is 5.0 while the Tiger H1 is 5.7.

War Thunder's BR system is actually fucked up right now. I'm playing this game when there was only tier 5 and King Tiger was matching with only T-26 and IS-2's. And now King Tiger is matching with IS-6, IS-3 and T-32 kind of tanks. King Tiger has no chance to stand against these tanks. And now, sometimes it's matching with BMP's and Leopards. It is fucked up. It was so fun to play with King Tiger before this freak BR system but now it's not playable at all. I hope they fix it but i think they have no intention of it.
you referring that there is the 1 br down and 1 br up.. thats the rule .. if gaijin change that to 0.6 br up and down .. will be more ok.. and you will have to wait to find a game for longer.. 2-3 min.. or 4.. and that was here before we start to play the game.. that they add new tanks close to the brs of the tiger 2 .. that make it to worth more.. not to loose .. i saw tiger 2 on 7.7 match to get 5 kills. easy..

I'm currently spading this thing and having very little experience with the 122 from always by passing the IS 2 and going straight for the t44 means I suck with ranging and leading targets with it 😂 it's such a slow moving round. I'm to used heatfs and apds so I'm always thrown off by how slow the 122 moves
122 is the only reason why I play Soviets.

@@AFT_05G same gun and better armor yes... but at a 0.7 higher BR wich means you will face APFSDS with over 300mm pen and even better ATGMs so its overall a much worse tank for its BR if the IS-4M was at 7.0 or 7.3 it would be a better tank but its not so its worse gameplay wise. Stat wise yes better but stats dont matter in war thunder.
The IS-3 was a biatch to spade, atleast for me.

Soviet 7.0 has to be one of my top 3 favorite lineups. IS-3, T-44-100, and ZSU-57-2 are all a delight.
Same, I also use the is6 and 2s3m in that lineup

I usually use the B shell because of the much better angled pen performance.
Ya the B round is way better than the D shell. I keep 2 D shells for extremely far away tiger 2s and maus Side shots the D does do better against those targets at range.

The is-3 is actually what I got my second nuke on, it still has a special place in my heart as an absolute monster of a tank even in full uptiers :))

Never shoot the M-51 in the machinegun port. There are some funky glitch angles around there that give it closer to 1000mm of "armor". So many times my shells just disappeared into there.
Volumetric Shells is one of the most horribly Implemented game mechanics ever.
It completely negated a Historical Exploit on the Panther D and A which allowed for the 75mm M3 to kill them from the Hull Roof by shooting the lower part of the gun mantlet.
Shot traps are basically Nonexistent now due to how Volumetrics works and it directly buffs certain vehicles that had issues with things like Shot Traps in real life.
