    I had asked others on TH-cam about what size tyres could comfortably fit in the Revolt 2022 frame and specifically if they thought 2.1” Vittoria Mezcal tyres would fit. Having not received one reply I thought I would find out myself. And the answer is a resounding YES! Thanks for watching!

      The tan walls go well with the green. Was this with flip chip in the rear position?

      @@aaronpostlethwaite8449 Thanks buddy! Yeah, this is with the flip chip set at its longest setting. As you can see in the last part of the video you get great traction on gravel IMO. It may not look steep but 10-12% I would say. The tyres aren’t sluggish on tarmac either! I’m loving this bike at the moment!

      Wow. Nice video.
      These day I am looking for a gravel bike with single crank. It was so helpful guide for my decision. Thanks.
      The scenery is very familiar cause’ I’m living in Gwangju. I hope you enjoyed your trip to Yeongsan river.

      @@빠다-j2e Thanks for your kind words! I really recommend this bike! I bought it from the Giant store behind Homeplus in Hanam, Gwangju. Nice people and very helpful!

    Commenting a year too late haha! I hummed and hawwed about switching to the Mezcal 2.1 then I came across this vid. Thanks for being the Guinea pig! The clearance was my worry as the 2.1 comes out to a hair over 53mm.
    On my 2022 Advanced I’ve been using the 44mm Mezcal for bikepacking and, by far, are my favorite tire, even those times you find yourself on pavement. It’s just a shame Vittoria does not make it in a 700x50.
    This season will involve bikepacking single track, fire roads and some pavement in the Rockies so I ended up going with WTB Venture 700x50 (toss up between Teravail Cannonballs).
    To sum it up, 50mm seems to be the sweet spot if going big. Lots of clearance as you’ve found out.
    When not bikepacking, I’m definitely sticking with the Mezcal 44’s.
    Thanks for the review.

      Yeah, 50mm is definitely the largest you wanna go on the Revolt. I enjoyed the 2.1 Mezcal tyres, but realistically it’s not gonna be good for your frame in the long run. I’m now running Pirelli cinturato M 45mm tyres. I feel they’re too narrow now though. I wish more manufacturers would make a 50mm tyre. Safe travels!

      @ydjun ~ I’m glad the video was helpful! I couldn’t find the answer myself and so made this video. There is about 1cm clearance which I felt was enough, but eventually I took them off simply because I was worried about the frame and fork getting damaged by stones that got dragged through by the tyres. I really enjoyed them though while they were on! Make sure to watch the follow-up videos that I made in which I touch on this fact. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    They fit, but do they still have good enough clearance for rocks? Looks tight. My wife and I both have damaged carbon bikes, on class A (1” or smaller stone)gravel roads. Under our forks also marked up badly. Running recommended 40mm on Specialized Diverges.

    • @BikeLife154
      @BikeLife154  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      chrisprice2200 ~ you have about 1 cm from the top of the tyre to the underneath of the fork. Same on the sides. These tyres are within Giant’s own specified max size tyre! To be honest I think very muddy terrain might be more of a problem. If anything happens I’ll see how Giant responds when I say, but you said……..😂 Thanks for commenting!

    OK - this was the video I needed to find to show the clearances on the fork and seat & chainstays! I also have a 2022 Giant Revolt Adnaced and was planning to put 29 x 2.1 tyres on - Vittoria Barzos in my case. Have changed my mind since watching your vids, so thank you!
    Now thinking I'll put 700 x 50 Goodyear Connector Ultimates on instead - did you consider these?

    • @BikeLife154
      @BikeLife154  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Barzos would be a definite NO imo. It was heartbreaking for me to have to take the Mezcals off because I enjoyed them so much! I have thought of every conceivable tyre so far including the Goodyear tyres. Goodyear is hard to find in Korea and even my usual online stores don’t stock them. You will also find it’s near impossible to buy the tyres you want these days cus everything is out of stock! I have Schwalbe allround 40mm tyres on now and using the Revolt as my winter road bike and have 45mm Pirelli Cinturato M gravel tyres on the way to me as we speak. I actually wanted the Vittoria Terreno dry in a 47mm but impossible to find. Apparently, they come out a bit bigger than stated when mounted on 25mm internals. Hope that is helpful. Safe riding!

    • @BikeLife154
      @BikeLife154  ปีที่แล้ว

      @Anthony James I agree. A 2.1” tyre is usable on the Revolt, but bad weather and stones being dragged up through the forks makes it too worrying for me. I’ve had 40mm Schwalbe tyres on since and now have Pirelli Cinturato M tyres in a 45mm. They’re excellent. The bike came stock with Maxxis Rambler 45s but found them too hard and slow rolling tbh and took them off after only 200km. Cheers Anthony!

      Hi bradley. Thanks for the comment! I do love the bike with these tyres, but they are a bit big for gravel imo. Giant say you can fit 53s in there and you can but what they don’t tell you is you risk damaging your frame. See my latest video and it will be clearer. Thanks again!
