That is because Kajukenbo is not an Okinawan art, nor is it "traditional". Kajukenbo was developed in Hawaii, during the late 1940's and early 1950's. It was developed jointly by several black belts. Kajukembo is a mix of techniques from Kenpo, Karate, Judo, Jujutsu, Kungfu, and western boxing. It's the first modern mixed-martial art.
Aloha everyone, Thank you so much for supporting my father, he touched alot of people in his life. We are holding his service on May 16 send a prayer in his honor, Aloha
sorry to hear about Professor Allen Abad passing,he taught me martial arts back in 1980 at the pool on Miramar air base, learned alot and gave me confidence in self defense, god bless Alan
He was a great guy I met him in 1999 in San Diego before he moved to Prescott Arizona to start his dojo there . Then much later I noticed in 2016 my Kung fu teacher had a certificate advancement from Abad on his wall from the 70’s or 80’s in guessing not sure what era He was a student from Alan’s . I was not a student of ALans when I knew him but he had some nice stories.
@bangmeister the point i meant to make out earlier was that its all about the training, as in people train to block like how people train to punch. Chuck Norris and Bruce Lee are not on the same level, also it was a movie which means to an extant it was choreographed. If someone trained as much blocking as someone else trained in punching then they could block. Speed plays into everything no doubt about it but to get on a higher level you must practice it.
I'm learning Tae Kwon Do at the moment. But the one thing I see from these martial arts is that it will take forever to maintain what you apply. In other words, you need to start YOUNG!!!!
I agree with 1816323 it is bad that emperado died however I think that he died happy I mean just look at kajukenbo four distinct branches each with its own style. yes kajukenbo does teach escrima arnis and kali
Of course its not mandatory, but it helps more than hurts. 18yr old knowing and training for 6yrs versus a 20yr old that started 2yrs after has that gap to overcome. 20yr old could have strength maybe but the 18yr old will still know things the other more than likely doesn't have experience in.
Wow, this is truly amazing. I think the master should probably stress speed with the feet. I notice many isntructors don't put much emphasis on movement of the feet. The only way you can get behind the guy in this case is by moving there fast enough because he's not just going to stand there after throwing two punches. Beautiful hand techniques. Just don't forget about the two limbs that get you there to begin with.
@bangmeister by Fastest striker beats fastest blocker, i think you are trying to say bruce lee is the fastest striker and chuck was the fastest blocker and that chuck was slower then bruce. i don't know who is but wouldn't an equal force meet? As the point of the block is to not get hurt someone could parry, block/push punch away and many other moves.Yes we all know this. yes but If someone did it right i am certain you could even go slower then a punch and still pull off a good block.
@bangmeister there obviously going slow because they are going over this, obviously in a real situation they wouldn't go that slow. Kajukenbo was made for defense in hawaii's use to be dangerous streets in a time when drunk sailors would hang around and criminals too. If this didn't work on people who happen to "punch quick" then the founders wouldn't have used it. Think about it. Thats why people practice, so they become good. as a boxer would train to punch Kajukenbo students train to defend.
@futuremarine808 That inside block he uses is what chuck norris used against bruce lee in that movie they did. Bruce lee was too fast for those blocks. Fastest striker beats fastest blocker
revo4lution No, it's really not.🤦♂️ American Kenpo only focuses on striking. Kajukenbo has striking & grappling techniques as well as weapon use and defense. It's literally a mixed martial art. American Kenpo is not.🚫

I love how he teaches. Much respect.
Rest in Peace my friend.
@MrKempo19 Sijo Adriano Emperado (one of the founders of Kajukenbo) is Prof. Chow's first blackbelt.

@TheIronWolf77 Kajukenbo is a hybrid martial art that does take some elements from kenpo as well as many other martial arts
very good! hope the cancer get's better!!! this is how kajukenbo is suppose to be done.
@abomb10 in the kajukenbo system, a red belt signifies a higher ranking blackbelt.

One of the best arts!

I believe Kajukenbo also teaches Kali/arnis/escrima principles. :-)

@kempobrad what do u mean ? he himself is not good ? or his english is not good ?

How can I obtain the full DVD?
@Mider999 Umm...it's in the title of the video. lol
You do not need to do anything. Although you have a lot of experience starting young, it is not required.

@CupisHomines Kajukenbo is slower than Kenpo? That's the dumbest thing I've read in a long time! lol
RIP MASTER~~~
Indeed. I am a student of one of his students, and I wish that I could have met him.
R.I.P.

he hits himself in the jacket and make those sounds watchs carefully
this would not work on a boxer or someone who punches quick
very simular to wing chun
This will only work if your attacker poses for you!
ten bucks nobody knows that the belt hes wearing just means instructor its no a black belt
Um, no. He's wearing a red belt with a black border. That's a 8th degree black belt in the Kajukenbo system.
He has cancer? maybe that's why he doesnt have hair last time i saw him. This was at the Las Vegas KOA convention
DRAGONS DEN MMA
American kenpo (Ed Parker's style) is way more effective
American Kenpo is dead.,
I doubt it..
