🔴 To clarify the old man got the HD9 DPS Cab model and did not get the DPS and then added all the cab accessories as I originally thought as he was originally was going to get the same as mine, but had since changed his mind and went for the cab trim.

Your fathers winch install would have been more useful had it been installed in the lower position like yours. Now he has to make sure, if stuck, that the hook end is attached to something that gives an upward pull on the machine. Attaching to a tree low at the stump, will pull the front of the machine down, making it more difficult to pull out of the mud/bog. Only thing about a low winch, is you may have to get your hands dirty fishing blind the hook from the winch, if deep in the mud or bog.

Good point Julian - I think the location of the winch was made by the dealer when they were installing things. The old man did use it in the early winter to twitch out some birch and maple for his wood pile. He did complain that it was harder than he thought to pull out the cable. Perhaps a trade off as you said about the angle.

To your question of the difference with the fender flares. There are the regular fender flares (which you have on the HD7 in your video )and the other are sport fender flares which you show on the HD9 in your video. Both are offered by BRP. The sport fender flares are more slender and don't stick out as far. Happy trail riding, they are both great machines.

In retrospect I should have got the regular flare, I would have been able to get through a few spots in the fall without having “stress tested” the flex against some rocks in Mersey bowater 🤣

Nice comparison . I ordered the same machine as your dads. Hopefully delivery in April . I currently have a 2017 commander soft cab and heater. It’s a great machine but I do fine the engine noise too much on longer rides. I have to use ear plugs or muffs . It makes me feel like I am at work. Lol .. I am looking forward to the new machine.

Is the visco lok ok? I have a Yamaha Wolverine 850 but I'm looking at the HD9 Cab since I live in Minnesota and will use it for plowing. Have they upgraded it or fixed it do you know? I've heard nothing but problems with it. I know about the smart lok or whatever but that doesn't come in the HD9 Cab I don't believe.

@@jimh.412 The smart lock is offered on the higher trim packages I believe. I have owned 3 can ams with the visco lock and no issues. Generally the issues come with extreme riding. Heavy mud and rocks all with wide open throttle , bigger tires and tuned engines . I have the smart lock on my 2022 xmr outlander. No issues so far but it’s stock and I don’t ride it hard. Yamaha has a better 4x4 system and belt drive .

@@lloydmarche7263Ok thanks. No-I don't do any big mudding hardly so maybe it will be ok. Did you get your new rig yet? Let me know how the power is. I know it only has 65hp but my Wolverine has 69 stock but I'm a little disappointed with the Yamaha power.. The Can Am with 65hp is actually faster than mine. I know Can Am usually doesn't hold anything back but Yamaha's are usually pretty reliable.

@@jimh.412 I have my new defender now . Put 450km on it. Happy with the machine and the power is good for my needs. Lots of low end torque. It will do 100km/hr wide open throttle. Cruises at 70km/hr just fine.

@@lloydmarche7263 Nice. I found a good deal on a 22 Can Am Defender XMR so I got that. It has smart Lok and 82 hp. I'm happy with it. I would like to drive one like yours and compare them.👍

Hi there, awesome rigs you guys have! Question about your dad’s, are you sure it’s not an hd9 cab? To add all those accessories after the fact to a non cab would be incredibly expensive.
    Enjoy and stay safe!

The HD9 cab and doors are defintely different from my HD10 Limited even the heater ac console differs.

Nice machines sounds like your dad just added the doors and windows and heater right or was it the HD9 cab model that has everything but A/C from the factory? Also I have a 2022 HD7 and love it mine is super quiet 12 miles per hour and under but gets quite abit louder after 12 mph with some vibration and such was wondering if your dads HD9 is smoother and quieter from like 15 mph and faster than yours? Thanks

    • @AvoidingChores
      @AvoidingChores  ปีที่แล้ว +1

He must have went for the DPS Cab trim as he said everything was installed at factory. Prior, he was getting the same DPS trim as mine but was changing his mind a lot about, soft/hard doors. The vibration you mention at that speed is not as noticeable as on mine. Overall I found the ride / sound at that speed to be smoother. At higher speeds the sound is about as loud but a bit “fuller” if you know what I mean. The old man has been enjoying the machine especially in the last month going out to a woodlot and filling up the bed with some wood as compared to going with a tractor.

HD9 DPS CAB also comes standard with arched A-arms, and factory heater. The front bumper and winch, rear view mirror and under passenger seat storage box, are all at extra cost. I also have the 2023 HD9 DPS CAB, love it, so quiet, the V-Twin engine is quite a bit smoother, and seems quieter. The CAB version adds quite a bit of extra weight though. Enjoy

The HD9 as shown in the video is about 12k more than the HD7

I think the old man had bought the DPS cab for ~27k CAD and added accessories to it
