But I definitely agree with the POBs and the jewel cases. It’s definitely unnecessary. Just anxiety. I personally haven’t gotten down the rabbit hole to much with POBs
And it's a hard rabbit hole to climb out of once your there. I'm still trying to reel myself back because I feel like most of my free spending money just gets dumped into kpop and I'd like that for it to go to other things sometimes haha hoping you pull some Channies!!

Something I set as a rule for myself when I first got into collecting was not forcing myself to get pobs. I wouldn't seek out older ones and I wouldn't force myself to complete a pob collection. For me, pobs signify that I was part of a comeback. If I preordered albums in group orders or in my own orders, thats great and fun but I won't get upset if I don't have. Collecting should always be fun but I cannot ignore the financial responsibility that comes as a collector. When we have American exclusives, I will just do that.
I really like that mentality. I think that is such a good one to start out with so you don't get sucked into the never ending void. I need to learn from you on that lol
i totally get the whole pob situation!! i used to preorder a bunch of changbin pobs from sharings due to fear of fomo but then i realised that i shouldnt even be stressing out over it? i think its totally fine if you're the type to preorder a bunch of album pobs beforehand but it becomes as issue if you're stressed out over it!! now i usually wait for previews to come out and prioritise the one that look pretty to me. currently I'm working on my pokecheek and heartcheek changbin collection and i couldn't have been happier. just taking things slow makes me excited to collect him!
That is such a cute collection theme, I would be over the moon with that too! You are so right that there is a form of fomo that comes and goes with pobs and not wanting to miss out, but at some point, you just got to prioritize other things than photocards..

The pob situation made me Sad for a moment cause i'm starting my collection right now. But them o saw the experienced collectors talking about that and that conforted me. I'll choose 2 ir 3 pobs and that's It.
It can feel overwhelming like I said, that's why I wanted to briefly discuss because I know when I first started collecting and seeing how much was out there, I was feeling discouraged as well. I think it's unrealistic to collect everything, and definitely financially challenging, so I think just collecting what sparks joy for you is the best way to collect!

I just saw the Aladin pob previews and they are so pretty! I think that was a good choice to order from there. I missed uploading, so I'm really glad to be back 💝 Also, yes, you described Case 143 so well! The POB situation part was so true! I have this "on-and-off" situation for collecting (mainly because I'm based in North America but my collection is at my friend's house in China so I can't get to it as frequently) and the last time I got a haul was Feb. 2021. There's been so much that I missed out for the past two years that I both love and hate. Hate because, well, obviously a lot of cards would've been a lot cheaper (e.g. Christmas Evel SUBK) if I got them earlier; yet, I also like how I did this because I can't imagine what I'd end up like collecting NOEASY era hahah... I hated Chan's style for the entire era and definitely do not want a single piece of photocard with that style. This time as well. I didn't go for the pre-orders but ended up purchasing on Weibo, and only got POBs from Apple Music, KMS, MS, SW, and BDM. And like you said, if they had fewer stores like IN LIFE era, I might've gone for all of them, but with 22 stores, I felt like the 5 that I truly liked was enough. It's kind of having this opposite effect now, but I guess it also makes my collection easier now I don't have to actually look for every single card hahah

i totally understand your frustration with the overuse of pobs bc i think exactly the same! i’m not a huge pob collector as i collect bts (and they usually only have selfie pob from weverse) and twice who already had a bunch of pob since a few cbs ago, but they used to be concept cards with the same photo for all the pobs, so i didn’t mind that much lol but for their recent comeback, they started doing selfie pobs for some stores (and plus the luckydraws) that although it wasn’t a lot, it was very overwhelming in some senses, especially for me who collects a popular member :( so yeah, i’m afraid how this gonna go in the future 😭 i know that for the group itself the bust of sales are a huge achievement, but i also feel very manipulated :( i try to keep the mindset that i don’t need all of this, then i focus only in the ones i find really pretty and that helps me a lot to avoid the FoMo, but sometimes it’s hard :/
I agree. I think the fomo is the hardest hurdle to get over. I also like to remind myself that this is SUPPOSED to be a hobby that brings me joy and that I can work on at my own pace and it's not something I should be stressing over or spending more than I can afford to. They definitely picked up on us enjoying the selfie cards more over the past few years and they have ran with that FOR SURE.

I think JYP isn't gonna stress doing that for their bigger groups anymore and instead focusing on doing that for newer groups like NMixx to get their sales up there with the older groups

I think the additional release, unless it's a repack, is totally unnecessary and a money grab. Hoping we can just slid past them this time 🤞
I love collecting skzoo stuff its my weakness, pc and pobs aren't a big deal to me as long as I have 1 of each album I really don't care nor do I feel the pressure collect when I do get my bias cards I do get happy but that's about it into a sleeve they go never to see the light of day again. lol
First I was happy that I'm not an OT8 collector myself. I only collect Bin and Chan, and sometimes Lee Know when I like his inclusions, but I don't push myself to it. But since Noeasy, looking at those POBs lists and now this one, I am beyond relieved I do not feel the need of collecting POBs. Personally, I see them kinda as a scam because they indeed look very similar, even to regular PCs in terms of outfits and poses. The only different thing is that some are shiny or sparkly or whatever. From the last 3 comebacks, only a few of them do deserve the attention they're getting, in my opinion (Noeasy Soundwave, for example.... those are lovely). It really is becoming a problem and makes it look like that it is much more about the money itself, than about the success of the group.
When I figured out and discovered what collecting was, I never imagined I would be an ot8 collector, but after getting my first set of albums back during In Life and realizing I couldn't bare to trade any away so I could get Chan, my bias, I knew I was in for a world of forever wallet hurt, haha. In all seriousness, trying to keep up with one member and all that there is for them is overwhelming and doing that with multiple members, especially now, is insanity. I'm glad you are content with the member that you chose to collect, as that is the whole point of collecting - curating sets that make you happy! ✨ I do agree that the pobs and extra frills that seem to come with everything these days can ride a thin line of a scam and is seemingly used as more of a marketing strategy rather than a benefit to the group's activities. On one side they need to go hand-in-hand because larger sales do equate to bigger opportunities, but what is happening these days just feels exploitative of the fans, I hope that there is a change at some point to it..
I looked around in Mercari today and a set of JYP store preorder photocards is 430€... Considering there are so many sets... Too much. What gets you buying is a high enough price(benefits) to value it and low enough that you can get several copies to have fun. But this latest edition+the cases is like we're stepping into NCT (photocard) Land...
I have no idea why the JYP store are so popular. The skzoo pobs arent my personal favorite if I'm being honest 😬 I think there are so many other prettier and nicer sets out there, especially this time around...but they are for sure being WAY TOO overpriced. Also yeah, JYP becoming the new SM 🤔

Hi! I’ve just started collecting K-pop albums last year, and tbh I’ve been just buying them on Amazon - as long as you buy the ones with the legitimate seller then you won’t get scammed ! I’ve also seen others buy from ktown4u, subkshop etc, and they also seem safe.

The Stray Kids official twitter (or any official group kpop account) will also always tweet out official links to stores during comeback time, so you can always go and search back on the accounts for the store links and those will always be legitimate. Most Korean stores are legit. My personal favorites to order through during comeback times are Apple Music, KTown4U, Musicplant, MakeStar, Soundwave and Yes24. As mentioned, if you are USA based, SubKShop is a good and really reliable California based kpop warehouse. Skz are also now sold in Target and Barnes and Noble for their past two releases! You can always check the legitimacy of an album as well my making sure it has the "Komca" sticker on the back~
You buy them directly from the Apple Music store. It's a bit confusing because of the already well know Apple compnay, but you usually have to search for "Apple Music Kpop Store" for the correct site to pop up. They also have a global/english integration to their website
pobs are great if you collect 1/2 members. even if it's a lot of pobs. but when someone collectss it for a group it's kinda expensive and not funny at all especially if the group has a member pricing curse

what website do you buy from to get the apple music pob?
You buy them directly from the Apple Music store. It's a bit confusing because of the already well know Apple compnay, but you usually have to search for "Apple Music Kpop Store" for the correct site to pop up. They also have a global/english integration to their website
pobs are great if you collect 1/2 members. even if it's a lot of pobs. but when someone collectss it for a group it's kinda expensive and not funny at all especially if the group has a member pricing curse
