My grandma was born in 1921 and grew up in Slater, Missouri. I grew up in New York, but got to spend a lot of time with my grandma and her older sister who was born in 1901, also a Missouri native. Many of my friends would comment on how they loved her "Southern" accent, although she called it "Mid-Western." Listening to Annye Anderson speak reminds me of my childhood summers listening to my grandma and great-aunt talk and tell me stories from decades long ago! Something about the accent is so soothing! 😄😄

This is the most honest description you will get of Robert Johnson. But still everyone rather hear the same tired story of how he sold his soul.

This is amazing. She challenges a good bit of what has been written about R.J. I have the book, can't wait to start it. All the more excited after watching that incredibly informative discussion.

Robert Johnson was and still is in my mind he is the greatest ever Bluesman.. All blues ,rock, any other music came from Mr Robert. Mr Robert created a original sound that is still loved today. He had competition Son House, Skip James, Elmore James,Willie Dixon, Johnny Shines, Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf and so many more. At the time I honestly felt blessed the opportunity to know of Mr. Robert music and exploring his music Some ask how good of a musician was Robert? Johnny Shines another great bluesman who traveled Via rail car and they performed together and Johnny explained as good as Robert was he never saw Robert ever practice. He said ,Robert didn't have to practice and Robert could play anything. Hazelhurst was blessed with Robert. This is my note. As great as Robert is..I never ever heard Racial public atmosphere that always shows its ugly face but not when regarding Mr Robert. He was a great spirit. I believe like Mr Shines Robert did not sell his soul. When asked Johnny replied to gentleman. What can you do about selling your soul? Let me see your soul, Hand me your soul. See you can't. You have no control over your soul. . remark from Johnny Shines before he died. I do believe people felt Roberts time was limited. One said during Dallas recordings that he seemed very anxious and seemed as if at Time was running out. I believe at times Robert did have a Hell Hound on his trail.! God Bless All

Thanks Dr. Augusta Palmer, St. Francis College, Preston Lauterbach and specially Mrs. Annye C. Anderson for this heartwarming talk. Thanks for bringing the family side of the story out and revealing a side that "scholars" didn't care to elaborate on. (Juan Urbano López)

She absolutely right the Mexicans had the best hot Tomales 🔥 we still eat them that way i remember being a kid waiting on the tamale man! My grandfather used to listen to Robert Johnson and i would be riding in the car with him he was born around the same time. It is such a shame that the history has been suppressed. Mrs. Annye not all of us black folks are ignorant of the history and we know he was cursing God or anything we know exactly what those songs represents. Thank you Mrs. Annye.❤

I had never heard that Roebuck was African American. Of course that has made me look into it a little bit. No I am not claiming to be a Alvah Roebuck expert at all, still on the face of it with a small bit of research that would seem to be a highly dubious claim. My point is that anyone can be pushing an agenda. Still this was a fascinating insight to RJ.

It's because Sears fought against white supremacist who were mad that when roebuck found out how bad black folks were suffering being oppressed, couldn't buy the same foods, nor clothes etc as whites and had to wait in line for whites shop then get the last of what's left, Roebuck wouldn't accept that he started allowing black people to buy straight through the post office and many other ways, white supremacist were pissed off so a way to try and boycott Sears they exposed Roebuck and his partner as being black, but Roebuck and his partner published photos of their face and that stopped the white supremacist, but Sears still ended up losing favor after Jim Crow thanks to white supremacy. People don't understand how terrible shit were most black people were stuck as slaves still in Jim crow because the only way they were able to shop were if the store owner was the crop owner and they had no credit til the crops were picked, black people were blocked from building real credit and getting a bank account for decades after slavery when some finally were able to get those things it was only through a husband who was able to vote. Lots of things were messed up in America and people wonder why reparations is still being pushed the wealth gap is tremendous not by choice but by force through lots of racist laws and loopholes.

This is wonderful stuff here on "Robert LeRoy Johnson" - I like his middle name. All his Mississippi Delta Blues songs are very awesome to listen to. I do believe he was murdered by a jealous husband, or jealous people. She has a great source of information on brother "Robert LeRoy Johnson." Mississippi & Georgia Black Folks are awesome friendily. Who was your Daddy's name ???? Robert Johnson sounded like a very smart Man in his lifetime big time.......white washed history????

Man was this woman at the crossroads to she seemed to be alot of places where Robert was and she wasn't allowed its always she wasn't allowed I think she's a a great storyteller if she doesn't have any family credential of any with names airlums pictures household items something but she has nothing it's one big mystery and a big story.
