I'm interested in learning your history being that the Boyds and Deans are related, but we look astonishingly different (which means nothing). I can trace my history back to Egypt, but I'm missing so much of the European history. I can't for the life of me figure out figure out the Europeans that carry my family name after 1750. In only 350 years the European branches are so different than what I would expect.
My late grandfather was called Donald Henry Boyd. He passed in 1962. I'll be 50, this 10th of Dec. His father came from Kilmarnock. I myself am a double, and single reedmaker, for various kinds of border, and smallpipes. (I did some reed design work for McCallum, there in Kilmarnock, some years back, on a synthetic double reed, for their Fred Morrison smallpipes. My company is called Boyd Reeds)
My father's paternal great grandmother was a Boyd, second generation migrant into the US and moved to The South. Her twin sister married a Hawkins, and her grandson was the recently deceased Taylor Hawkins of the Foo Fighters. In case any Boyds are curious about what we've been up to in the States.
Also fascinated. My GG Grandmother was a Boyd born to William Boyd in 1824. I think William was born in 1795. Sometime in that period they ended up in Ireland. Probably due to the lowland clearances. Seems that all the Irish record are gone and can't back track them easily without making a trip.
Deans and Boyds are related. I can trace my line all the way back to Egypt... I can not for the life of me figure out why there are so many Deans and Boyds look so different than my family. How much do you know about your lineage. How far back can you trace?

I am a Boyd in the U.S.. My Scottish families have been here since the 1700's Interesting about the Boyds & the Stewarts. My Great Grandmother was a Stewart & my grandfather was a Boyd who married her daughter. There was an intertwining of these families in my lineage in the U.S. , but I also know that they fought a lot ! Even murder. They killed my grandfather, the Boyd.
I am apparently very loosely related to the founder of clan Boyd, Robert Boyd, and later my ancestors were taken prisoner and sent to America, and I somehow ended up being named Robert Boyd aswell
I was born in Kilmarnock & a very distant relative was the creator of burns night .. he was friends with friends of Robert Burns & much admired him so on the anniversary of Burns death they held a memorial supper they did this again the next yr & some of the group went to America taking the traditions with them into universities & from there it carried on to where it is today ..I think the guy was called Laird Paul & info in the Dick institute so I am to believe .
I'm in a family tree of Robert Boyd born into a irish and peruvian family idk any thing about his line but would love to find out anything about him other than what ancestry has told me
Are all the weapons genuine or some victorian copies as a collector of edged weapons looks like a good place to visit might get over always wanted to find out about the Maxwells And what side of the fence they were on before we crossed over to ulster Boyd is quite a common name over here ulster scots you either hate us or love us lol

Great and informative video. I recently learned my ancestry is mostly Scottish and I'm closely connected to the Boyd clan. Very interesting history.
