This is a lovely sound I think I can see in your words 'where does my help come from, my help is from the Lord'
Songs of ascents, lessons in worship for the journey
The 15 psalms sung on pilgrimage to the temple
    rising to Jerusalem
    Psalms 120-134
Songs of truth and peace, humility, dependence on God and blessings.
7 steps climbing up to the top
Those on the journey will fix their eyes on God in the journey up and ascend against opposition and we might learn some things about worship
and we might learn as we look at how God designed these songs of ascent, songs of the journeying pilgrimage to the temple.
Step 1 - Psalm 120: I am for truth. I am for peace. A good start. Those on the journey start by singing a song of distress, as if in a minor key. Opposing untruths and stressing they are for peace. They are willing to defend themselves but are fro peace. Some views claim to be for peace but here God has those on the pilgrimage sing a commitment to peace as they start their journey to the temple.
Step 2 - Psalm 121: A look up at the mountains. I will lift my eyes to the hills. A good time to think of danger, difficulties and resources for help. Where does my help com from? The Lord the maker of heaven and earth. A song of dependency.A good question to ask at the start of a journey A good place to rest your hope.
Step 3 - Psalm 122: I was glad when they said let’s go to the house of the Lord
Pride is looked down on Three songs into the journey they pray for the peace of Jerusalem, the city of David. Peace again.
Step 4 - Psalm 123: I will look to God. A Psalm of dependency, looking to God for mercy and opposing the proud. ( step 4 is the middle rung and reflects of pride and leaning on God )
Step 5 - Psalm 124: Reality check. If the Lord had not been on our side we would have perished. A reminder. The Lord is not merely a view to be held for them but was the reason for their very survival
Step 6 - Psalm 125: Another look at the mountains. This time closer to the top. This is like God surrounding us protecting us.
Step 7 - Psalm 126: A recollection of the good things God did…. So good it was as if we dreamed
    ____
Ascent reaches the peak . Now at the top and center of the song of ascent is the center of worship with a Psalm of Solomon, the builder of the temple.
Psalm 127 Unless the Lord build the House ( the temple house, a city or a home.. ) they Labor in vain. The center of the songs is a song about worship resting on God working.
It should be no surprise that the center of the worship journey is also the one the journey must depend on for right worship and right living
    ____
    7 steps traveling back down
Step 7 - Psalm 128: The blessings follow to one’s home, one’s wife and children ( step 7 up and down recount blessings)
and the reality of problems in life and cries to God in contrast to the protection of God:
Step 6 - Psalm 129: Reality check. A lament of problems Many times was I afflicted. It felt like they were plowing my back ( step 6 now reminds that God's providence protects even in persecution but doesn't mean a problem free life)
Step 5 - Psalm 130: Reality check. A lament of problems Out of the depths I cried to you. ( step 5, if the Lord had not been on our side we would have perished... but ... the depths of the problems are serious)
and some last thoughts as the journey closes to an end:
Step 4 - Psalm 131: Humility is embraced, just as pride was opposed in an earlier song ( ( step 4 is the middle rung, touching on pride going up and humility coming down )
Step 3 - Psalm 132: “Lord remember David” David remembered to establish worship of God and prepared for the temple and David will never lack a man to rule…. Jesus being the Son of David , the root and offspring of David ruling today ( step 3 was Jerusalem the city of David and David. Jesus being both shoot and root of David, the root and offspring of David )
Step 2- Psalm 133: a song of fellowship between brothers. At the start those on the journey sang they wanted peace with their neighboring countries and here they want peace with each other.
Step 1 - Psalm 134: Blessed be the night shift It was said that the Lord gives his beloved sleep in a previous song but here even those working at night in the temple are remembered in the last song ( and second shortest chapter of the Bible being 3 verses long)
Post script - a handy memory tool:
7 steps up to the 1 at the top to 7 steps down
    7 2 1 2 7
Solomon wrote two Psalms 72 and 127
Fun fact: The use of stepping up to a main point in the middle is often found in the Bible and known as a literary chiasm. Matching points bookend a central point walking in toward the main point then walking back. In this case the matching steps might be similar and also might be contrasting
