You can thank our government for that. Today cars are legally required to have a ridiculous amount of electronics and safety features in them to be sold in the us (and definitely not so the government has an easier time invading our privacy on the road).

The Ford Rangers are often overlooked cause they're gutless and kind of ugly, but I had a 85 Bronco 2 4wd way back in 2001 and it was a blast! I'm not a Ford fan but I had a lot of cheap fun with that.
@@4by_yotaguy373 80s and 90s Rangers have weak transmissions and differentials. Cracked gears and gears that lose their teeth are common. I had an 87 Ranger 4x4. It was a fun truck while it lasted. Problem with old Toyotas like this was always the rust. My dad had a 79 Toyota 4WD Pickup just like this. After only about 10 years of slushing through Michigan snow and salt, it was a mess. Toyotas from this time were know to keep on driving but the body panels looked like they were going to fall off. The truck was given away and the recipient had to create a new floor panel so he used a stop sign but the drivetrain was fine.
All hail the 22R! I had one of these trucks (82 model) in the late 80s... ran the thing for 4 months without oil while overloading it almost daily for my construction job. I was young, oops on the oil thing but the engine was fine. I guess oil is optional with these...LOL
This is a lovely restoration. I had a couple of these many years ago..A yellow Mk1 like this and a red Mk2. I always thought the original model was the coolest looking.
I agree. I hate and dispise these 4 door station wagon trucks, their ugly. A regular cab truck like this one is simply, perfect! And I'm more of a Nissan guy here.
It's sad when you think your car guy you don't know a cassette stereo from an 8-track 😢 But my father did buy a 77 Toyota pickup knew that did have the 8-track option😊
I know you no longer have this vehicle, but I have a odd question, how tall are you? You look tall in that truck, I wonder is it just really small insideA?
I guess this proves you don't listen, can't read, and didn't click the link in the description to the purchasing link 🙄. I hope you're doing better in life these days.

Actually to say they are million miles motors is false. Head gaskets go all the time. Once they heat up for what ever reason you will be changing the head gasket. Just did mine. Best truck ive ever owned. get offers to sell all the time.
This young guy doesn't realize how much gold he has in front of him, the way he describes the yota just shows what he doesn't know, you need an older gentleman to try to sell that beast
No. I have an '83 Toyota 4WD, SR-5 Longbed. Added 4.5" Superlift front springs, 4" Skyjacker rear lift springs, Drop steering drag link, I rebuilt the 22R motor, added a mild cam, progressive weber carb. Had a Transmission Shop rebuild the transmission. 15x10" Enkei aluminum rims, 33x12.50x15" Goodyear MTR Mud Terrain Radials. Truck is very dependable and solid. Maybe only gripe is not a high horsepower motor, but simple, and reliable. From 1986 on, they dropped the tough straight front axle for Independent front. Lost the ruggedness right there.
If only simply useful vehicles like this were still available.

These 80's Toyotas & 80's Ford Rangers were excellent rigs. Simple and rugged..

Had 81 4x4 SR5 same blue, graphics were golden. Btw rear wheel is missing center cap,but not surprised. Nice truck
Still would take this Toyota over any new or used Tacomas!
Same here!👌😎👍
Same here x2 .
This is a stronger and beautiful simple truck 🛻
I'm not much into Toyota's, prefer Nissans, however can't help but to love this truck.
I wouldn't take it over my 2003 Tacoma but definitely Gen 2 and 3.
This is a lovely restoration.
I had a couple of these many years ago..A yellow Mk1 like this and a red Mk2. I always thought the original model was the coolest looking.
I had several Toyota Trucks the 81 year was probably the best year. A fun little truck very reliable.❤
these look so much better than the new ones

Had many of those older trucks wish had kept my last one. Had 79 81 and 83 models best trucks ever
80's pick up cars are rugged💪💪💪... So macho
That’s when Toyota made stuff I would buy!
A nice time capsule
I have a 1983 that I bought new in July of 1983 for $8295. oo. It has been a great truck.
How much did it sell for?
Stunning......
That’s clean
I wonder what the truck looked like prior to the obvious dealer done paint job/spray paint the wheels/steam clean everything.

6:22 center “council” unit?
Nice truck but I would be afraid to park it anywhere,it wouldn't last 15 minutes before someone steals it.

Does the ac work tho?

Damn that's a beauty!
How do they drive on highway are they the same as the first gen Tacoma’s?
Nice LHD steering ❤❤❤
Just like mine, including the tires and carb! (mine is long gone though, Michigan rust ate it up) - that's cassette radio not 8-track
I know, I was looking at the cassette thinking "where the hell is the 8 track?" :P
It's sad when you think your car guy you don't know a cassette stereo from an 8-track 😢

Mint.
That is my dream vehicle, I have a 92 with 260k on it but would love a 79-83 4x4 one day. Is that that truck over any vehicle on earth.

Bed has more room than any truck from present day.
Agreed. I totally hate these modern day 4 door station wagon trucks. A regular cab truck is all ya need.

only one problem with 1 cabin truck it gives me neck pain i dont know why, is it because it lacks room or being too tight for me..
