Our family left Poland when I was 5 y.o. Living in Sweden for the past 50 years we decided to move back to Poland 2020. Best decision in my life. Agree with you on all points, welcome to be a part of the Polish community.
Spot on. Buying proper farm eggs, hand made cheeses and smoked sausages at the Stary Kleparz is something special. I've been coming here for over 20 years. A lot has changed and a lot has stayed the same. I do wish that the prices had stayed the same but I guess some things are inevitable! Due to the crazy decision that was "Brexit" I am looking into getting a Polish passport in the near future. I don't think anywhere in the world is perfect but Krakow comes pretty damn close!
......Brexit was not crazy. European Union is hopelessly corrupt and Poland will be leaving sooner than later. They saved the Zloty - never were intending to stay. Poland is receiving war reparations from Germany indirectly via europe.
Poland is the sucsess story of europe after ww2 after the holocaust cant wait to get back there. Nina seems lovely ,always happy, enjoy christmas, merry christmas to europe fromAussieland
Wow, i'm very surprised and i didn't expect that. Welcome to Poland :) I wish you a very pleasant stay, great friendships, lot of good food and stay healthy, man ! And thank you for your kind words about my homeland.
Thank you for sharing, especially the medical stories. Amazing. I've heard from a few Polish born Americans, had they known how Poland would change, they 'd never move to the US
My family was forced out of Poland. My father was a well know revolutionary that fought against the Communist government decades ago. I was a child and understood some but didn’t want to leave my family or friends. We would have been killed had we stayed. It’s unfortunate we ended up in the USA because our friends were sent to France, Australia, or stayed in Germany. As the daughter of someone who fought an oppressive system, America at the current trajectory doesn’t sit well with me. People don’t want to change here because they think it will make it worse for them. They vote to pass laws that hurt them and their neighbors. We vote crooked men into politics that will basically ruin the nation and destroy the average citizen here. I’m not happy here anymore.
What a great video. So informative and covering areas of major importance about the country. I'm Scottish and I see similarities between the people there and here. I hope the Polish tourist board is paying you, boy! Because you and the delightful Nina are doing their work for them 😉 All the very best to you for life in your beautiful new home country 😊
Mieszkam w Kanadzie i USA od 1964 roku . Jestem tutaj zpowodu pracy . Naprawde niema tutaj nic specjalnego wporuwnaniu do naszej pieknej POLSKI !!!!!!!!!!!!
Kraj piękny tylko rządzący tym pięknym krajem to ksenofodzy. Tusk i jego podwładni podczas swoich poprzednich rządów doprowadzili gospodarkę Polski do ruiny.
You're the real deal Ged. I have a lot of fellow foreign friends in Kraków and there is so much complaining about Poland. You have a great outlook and it's very refreshing. Enjoy Poland!
Congratulations! I wish you all the best. I try to visit Poland as often as I can, just to see and feel Krakow again... As a citizen of Canada ( I love my second Fatherland dearly), I miss only one thing in Poland- POUTINE🤣😋❤. All the best again❣️
Witamy w nowym domu :). Bardzo ładnie opowiedziane. Piszę po polsku by Cię zmotywować, bo nic Wam tu tak nie pomoże jak znać język, ale i po angielsku trochę umiemy :). Pozdrawiam.
Great comments. I have been living in the U.S.A. for almost 44 years and I would pretty much agree with your conclusions. We too plan to relocate to Poland soon, and through many contacts with other Polish people recently we hear the same more and more. With all those quickly disappearing traditional values all over the world, and mostly so called developed western countries, it seems that a few countries like Poland are still on the guard of those values based in old, but somehow neglected christian tradition. What will become of us if we allow it, if we allow any kind of moral chaos, forgotten tradition, lack of mutual respect, fast growing egocentric approach, general looseness, missing love, fast falling principles and some kind of savagery? Would we try to prove this way false belief in some regressive evolutionary descent from an animal to behave like one now? Let us hope, that maybe Poland will become a safe haven for normality or at least partial normality in this quickly falling true social order. However, it is so inspiring to hear these observations and such good compliments about our fatherland from someone who isn't Polish or perhaps he already is. Mary Christmas to you and all yours, brother. /
No to się narobiło. I kto by pomyślał? 😊😊
Gread decision welcome to our Polish Nation this decision means you have Poland in heart. You wont be disapointed wish you many years in happines and all the best in new 2024 year. Agree with the outlook in the UK. It’s continuing along a downward trajectory! The IT sector (an industry I’m apart of) is growing rapidly. I agree with the beauty of the old and new architecture near Rynek is fantastic. Florianska street (Hope I got this right) is our favourite
The only requirement to retain your permanent status in the USA (Green Card) is to travel there once a year. I wouldn't burn all bridges. In two more years, you could receive US citizenship and live in Poland for the rest of your life if this is your desire. US citizenship is permanent no matter where you live. I was planning to settle in Poland, for my retirement, but I noticed that my taxes there would be three times higher. If I stay in Poland for more than six months in a year, then Polish taxes apply, even if my income is from America.
Hi Ged, thank you for all the information you provide for us newbies. I'm Polish American and thinking of retiring here. Can you recommend a good internist? I'm diabetic and don't want to see a GP, because of several medical problems. Appreciate and enjoy all your videos!
Thank you for your perspective. I have a Polish birth certificate but I'm an American citizen and don't wish to remain in the USA, if I can help it! My family and I came to the USA to escape Communism decades ago. However, over the years the US has become a nightmare for me. The lack of care here, the overtly gross competition, the lie that anyone can make it in the USA, the crime, homelessness and simply lots of unhappy people. Poland has a happiness score similar to the Scandinavia countries and for a good reason. Now to find an international job or become a digital nomad and I am done and gone! As a Polish born person, unfortunately, I've never felt like I've belonged in the US. Over the years, I'm begining to realize that I will never retire in the USA, I will end up in poverty as an older person, or I will work until I die here. I simply can't afford to remain in the USA that's a huge part of it too.
@@matrixmannnI'm aware that Poland is becoming a tech hub in Europe. Unfortunately, my education is whatever I was able to afford. My parents were never able to help me and I received very little help with education here. When you're poor in the USA a good education is simply unaffordable now as well as in the past. I'm probably going to have to wait until retirement to leave unless I'm able to secure an international job in the next 5-6 years. Sadly, once you are here when you don't make a lot of money America becomes your prison.
Ged, I know you live in Krakow and bought your home there, but I have been watching some of your older videos and wondered if you ever bought any property in Montenegro as well, or decided not to?
We didn't, but we were close. We had a fantastic property in our sights there and I was going to go freelance...but the opportunity in Krakow was too good to pass up
Im an American with a Polish wife of 14 years. We live in America, but own property in Poland. How were you able to establish Polish citizenship in 3 years? Currently, there are over 30,000 renunciation cases filed in the US, meaning it may take years for this to complete. Until your case has been heard, you must continue to file taxes in the USA annually, even if you owe nothing. Perhaps you are aware of this. I cannot wait to relocate. As you mentioned, the quality of life in the USA is on the decline.
Not citizenship but residency that I was able to secure long term just before Brexit. Still working through the process with my US attorney maybe will post an update later - really the flavor of the video was more to explain why Poland offers so much as a place to choose to live compared to US, which I think a lot of people are still surprised to hear, but you understand I think!
Podkolorowałeś rzeczywistość do granic absurdu jeśli chodzi o publiczną opiekę medyczną. Ty poprostu chodzisz prywatnie do lekarza i tyle. Większość polaków nie.
Polska jest piekna to fakt ale zwrot green card to mala glupotka wg mnie oczywiscie, 42 lata jestem tutaj a Polske podziwiam kazdego roku ! I ona pozostanie moja Ojczyzna !
I don't see any good reason to return it(maybe the requirement to file taxes each year) but I guess in order to officially keep it - don't you have to come back to the US for a few months every few years, or something like? @@planetkrakow
Congratulations to all the polish people who voted for Tusk, for democracy, and against the right-wing populist. Poland’s economy has come a long way since the country joined the EU. Its GDP per capita is on track to pass that of the UK by 2030. Now hopefully the people from the US will keep their democracy as well. We all know where it would lead, if they vote for their right-wing populist. Nato would go downhill and Russia would start Worldwar III. Hopefully they are smart. Looking forward to my next vacation in Poland in 2024.
Madam, you are that DELUSIONAL thinking that Donald Tusk is a GOOD thing for the EU or Poland? This is exactly why your post went from being on the top, to all the way to the bottom. GLOBAL audience is sick of your political views, that destroyed half of Europe and American cities. Trump will get the nomination from the G0P, as people are sick and tired watching what is going on in the states. And please don't come to Poland, as we don't want you here. As the Left wing party would say, "WYPIERDALAJ"! Rozumesz ciemna maso, do czego wasza poityka doprowadza? Google is your friend, TRANSLATE IT from Polish to English and visit Cuba instead, as it's much closer from Miami, with folks enjoying the same ideology, as yours. Adios!
@@planetkrakowplease reconsider your decision. Poland is a seasonal country always was as always will be . Poland exists as a country then it doesn't exist . That's our history of Poland
30~40 lat temu to było nie do pomyślenia, żeby obywatele USA przeprowadzali się do Polski, było zupełnie odwrotnie - to Polacy uciekali do Stanów. To naprawdę niesamowite, jak ten kraj się rozwinął. Pozdrowienia z Bydgoszczy 😊.
Correct. from 1992 until 2023 I have a very good comparison of what Poland and US is and used to be...like Phoenix Poland rose from ashes...at the opposite things are getting really bad in US = never cured racism problem, crime & gun violence, corruption, very bad and expensive education and health care system and now debt and inflation. I have to share that I am one of many victims of police-court corruption, racism and cover up of latino drug gang/organized crime = things they did to me... If it wasn't covid19 lock-down I would have move back in 2019. I am coming back home in less than a month and I'm so happy. Wracam do Domu i nigdy wiecej ameryki.@@maciejwyzgowski

You made a wonderful decision!!! America is being destroyed by design, by the Democrats AND Republicans. But, Poland needs to be aware of their strong relationship with America because America will bring their woke thinking and politics to the Polish people. I am 2nd generation Polish and live in America and wish you and Nina a magical Christmas and all the best in 2024!! 🌲🌟
I trust in the intelligence and discernment of the polish not to fall for everything american. This is contrast to the English who have lost any sense of discernment and capacity for critical thinking.
Welcome in Poland. The USA used to be a paradise, now when I watch those documentaries about drug zombies, poverty, health care I really feel sorry for the Americans and what has happened to the US.
@@tomzphone exactly when? The 80’s here were wonderful for high rollers with coke and wallstreet addictions. The 90’s saw a lot more prosperity for working class people but it didn’t last long. The 2000 saw an incoming recession that made people abandon their homes in the middle of the night. Now, we’ve got a woke nightmare where it’s easier to get gender reassignment than it is to afford basic dental and healthcare. We came here in the 80’s and we were extremely poor. Poor throughout the decades is still poor! You can call it lower middle class now, working class, or simply employed but homeless. ALL the same! It’s never been a good time for people that don’t have enough here.
Wow! That’s a huge decision. Congratulations.🍾 ❤ very happy for you and Nina. I have been following your channel since your first video in Krakow three years ago. You could tell that from the very first time there was something that felt special to you about Krakow, despite the overall gloomy state of things back then in Covid. I think Krakow has that effect on many people. And all the reasons you bring up are so on point. I moved to the US as a teenager over three decades ago and visited Poland this past summer, first time in 20 years. I was so impressed and loved seeing my kids enjoy their first visit there. They genuinely loved it. In fact, my teenage son still talks about the trip and how much he wants to go back. Btw, I would add one more great reason to the list… and that is safety. We loved being able to walk everywhere at any time of day or night and feel safe. We live in a very safe area in the States, but do not feel anywhere near the same comfort of safety. It was so refreshing to have that sort of freedom from constantly worrying about your surrounding. Anyway, congratulations again!
My cousin worked in hospital in New York for many years. She have damaged her back at work. It would cost her thousands of dollars and she been told, they have no idea if she will walk. She come to Poland on wheelchair , fixed her back paying minimum money and she is walking. 🎄
I'm a Polish citizen having a USA Green Card currently. I visited Poland after 22 years, best time of my life. Poland has changed a lot, we are a great nation, we love our country and overall we always welcome people like You who want to be part of it. I do not understand how anyone can migrate to a different country and try to change it or worse, hate his/her new country of living. Good luck to you, especially with the Polish language lol God bless!
I confirm the UK. I had a bike crash - one hour before the ambulance arrived. (London not a middle of the nowhere) they took me to the hospital, I waited in pain for 5 hrs lying on the floor for the doctor to see me. The UK is now the failed state but the rich gets richer like in the US. The system which Mr Menzen and Balcerowicz love so much.
Our medical system in the USA is horrible. It exists for the benefit of drug companies and big medical conglomerates. Your health means nothing to them. Only your money matters.
Great video. I am 50 living in the US since age of 14 coming from Poland. I can retire in 6 or so years. Where do you think I am moving when I retire? Hopefully Poland won't be going down the hill in those 6 years.
@MarieClaireMonterey Are u bloody serious? Just 2 days ago, the internet found a video of the Democrat party, Senator Cardin staffer who filmed himself having 0rgy inside the US capital. What in the world is wrong with you people? Even NBC news put out an article on it.
So great to hear your comments about Poland, my native country. I'm proud to be Polish even though I live in the UK, being married to a British guy. Sadly, I have to confirm your comments about the desperate decline of England. 😢
Hi Ged,your so spot on with regards the your decision to stay in Poland. Watcing your vids for sometime I am so impressed hoh the country wishes to move forward wnd not loosing touch with tradional values. In UK Im surrounded by dirty streets, poor and filthy transport, high prices and the dam WOKE. Best wishes to you and Nina from Kent.
Thank you for this video sharing your experience in Poland. It makes me happy to hear. I'm Polish living in US, and for the last 5 years have been plotting how to move back to Poland. I travel there frequently to visit family, and I too have fell in love with my home country again. I would go there 20 yrs ago, and be like "oh I see why my parents left" but then over last 5 years going back several times for a few months to stay with family. And its shocking how much its developed, and how much better it is. Every trip, there was a new highway, or a new train station. I started to feel a bit crazy when I tell people Poland is definitely doing better than where I live in US. There is to me just a feeling that Poland is on the rise. Like is this in my head, am I romanticizing? So its so great to hear someone else say similar things about what you see there.
This video (with Polish subtitles) should be watched by everyone, especially young Poles. Maybe they will finally get rid of this cursed and imposed feeling that Poles are inferior to Germans, French, British or Americans. Maybe they will finally free themselves from the so-called leftist "shame education"! Personally, I would like to thank you for this - often emotional - statement about Poland. In fact, you talked about your love for your home in Krakow, for Poland. I am sure that few Poles can express their feelings so openly - you know that Poles are world champions in complaining! And I will write the rest of the comment in bullet points: 1. You talked about the multi-layered beauty of Poland and Poles. This multi-layered beauty is the result of Poles' attachment to the Christian and Latin civilization, which built the power of Europe. 2. You appreciated my work as a 65-year-old computer science teacher at universities. Therefore, I can write with a clear conscience that I contributed to building the power of Polish IT. 3. The Polish National Anthem begins with the words "Poland has not yet perished...". Do you agree with my opinion that if Poland does not perish, there is some hope for the so-called "old Europeans"? I wish Mr. and Mrs. Nina only happy days in Poland. And if not all of them are happy, then SURSUM CORDA.
I agree with this "complete disgrace" of the Western elites. However, I hope that Poles (and not only them) will wake up millions of people living in Western Europe and the USA. Probably, this awakening will mean some bloody revolution...@@planetkrakow
Thank you for such positive words and the credit our country receives from anyone who decides to take such a step. Although we know that Poland is not perfect.... we are working on it :) Now, I would like to point out one thing...from the very moment you decided to live here and more importantly call it home, please don't say they, say WE! as You are now officially part of Poland. I wish you a truly beautiful Christmas, many reasons for happiness throughout the new year, and lots of health as it's one of those things you can not buy.
Thank You for falling in love with Krakow the city I was born and left for Melbourne Australia in 1980's. Have there extended family. Visiting Poland few times and ready to be there soon.. CHEERS
Poland won you over! :) I agree with a lot youre saying, Polish people and the country are definitely developing, growing, improving their economy but they are very proud of their country and patriotic and want to preserve some of their traditions. What I found amusing was that my late father lived in Poland and he had a better local recycling system compared to my city in Australia, which you would never expect! Also their medical system has greatly improved from the old days :) Luckily, the Australian health system is amazing compared to the US, a mix of private and public, I also have chronic illness and get free treatment and doctors appointments.

I've been surprised by the strong response, if anything I was too kind to the US as my focus was on why I love Poland. The US has really become a total disaster
Dear Sir, I am happy you found what you were looking for. You will find that more people are leaving USA. "The land of the free, and the home of the brave", is gone. You don't see folks going out for walks at night, children playing outside, riding bikes. Most people realize that a child unattended could disappear, get killed. School shootings, you can't cross a street without someone trying to run you down. USA It's not what it was in 60ties, 70, etc. It's reaching the point where murders, all types of crimes are happening during the day. Government wants all law biding citizens to register their weapons, and how many criminals will register their illigal forearms?
Hope you will have only good experience in Poland. I am Polish and I am just leaving the job because I realised I have been surrounded by fake and dishonest Polish people. That kind of people are everythere unfortunately....

There is no such thing as free health care, because if you work, you are insured and they collect money from you in taxes for the National Health Fund (NFZ), and this system is hopeless because you have to wait forever for an appointment. Hello you . I am from the older generation,we Poles were very keen to maintain Polish traditions, customs and at all costs to maintain this our way of life. More traditional. Modernity, progress, technology, especially if they make people's daily life easier, this is a good direction and is very much needed. Everyone wants to see progress and modernity in their country, and not a soulless machine, which on the way to progress, will destroy the lives of others, destroy the spirit of the nation and its identity. We are afraid of such changes, so far it has been avoided, but will it be for long? It is necessary to slow down, look around you, look at other people and the beauty of the world and today, promoted haste, chasing a career, wealth and money can not buy everything. You can not buy happiness , health or peace of mind, and life is only one. But without them, you can't live either. It is important that politics does not forget why it exists. Because it is supposed to serve the people and often it is not, and a lot of bad things are happening and people in many countries are living harder and harder. I am glad that so many people come to Poland and appreciate what we have, what we are like and see the beauty of our country. We are happy to welcome to Poland people with a good heart, sensitive and willing to live and work in peace. It is not important nationality, where you are from, but what you are like. If you have chosen this country as your place on Earth, I wish you from the heart, all the best and many happy days.
Ged, what is the name of the group you went to in Krakow that you said was helpful for you regarding immigration issues and settling in, during your early days in Krakow? Do they also assist with obtaining citizenship via ancestry?
Oh Ged, I cried and cried and cried some more listening to your video. I share your sentiments 100% and have spoken very similar words about my love, Krakow, Poland. I used to watch your videos all the time, from your first days out of L.A.. Then I stopped, as it was too painful...I fell in love with Krakow (and Poland in general), in 2017. I returned in 2018 for three months. Again in 2019 for three months. Could not wait to return in 2020, but the pandemic hit, borders closed and I have been grieving ever since. I mean deeply! The reason for the only three months was due to the restrictions placed on USA citizens. I dreaded having to leave Poland! In any case the pandemic stoppage did me in, in more ways than I can comment here. Health issues kept me in place and it has been horrid. I am so grateful to your video because I am surrounded by people who do not have a clue why I abhor being where I am and long to be in Poland-my souls home! Alas, I am hoping, after all these years of longing to return and to fibd a way to stay. Like you, I feel the things you expressed. So, thank you, as it has been lonely not be around others that get it!
Wow - to elicit such an emotional response. People that haven't truly lived in these countries don't really understand. Having lived in Poland 3 years now, and in the US (New York and LA) for 22 years before that, I think I have a very real and clear opinion on how things really are. Those around you want to believe the US is still the place to be and they are misguided!

Welcome home Brother 🇵🇱
Thank you brother 🇵🇱

Gave my green card up in 1997 after 13 years. Back in my home country, UK.
Top man ❤ Best wishes from a Polish man living in the UK
Hi Ged, thank you for all the information you provide for us newbies. I'm Polish American and thinking of retiring here. Can you recommend a good internist? I'm diabetic and don't want to see a GP, because of several medical problems. Appreciate and enjoy all your videos!

Thank you for interesting remarks. Difficult times makes strong people - that's our history. Nice staying in Poland. With us, Polish.

Thank you!!!!
Everything you say resonates, unfortunately. Do it!

Does Poland have a facsimile of a Green Card and does Poland demand that one should give up the US Green Card before issuing a Polish facsimile?
No, no need to give it up
@@planetkrakow - Thanks.
So, welcome to Poland! Where are you from? What nationality are you?
British but had half my life in UK, half in US so I can talk about both countries
Can't you just keep your green card and apply for residency in PL?
No, wouldn't be an option to keep it and if I don't abandon would have to keep preparing US tax returns. I already have PL residency

This is exactly why your post went from being on the top, to all the way to the bottom. GLOBAL audience is sick of your political views, that destroyed half of Europe and American cities.

You are completely right about safety and I should have included that - it's a huge plus. Thanks for watching for soooo long!

You are definitely not romanticizing
This video (with Polish subtitles) should be watched by everyone, especially young Poles. Maybe they will finally get rid of this cursed and imposed feeling that Poles are inferior to Germans, French, British or Americans. Maybe they will finally free themselves from the so-called leftist "shame education"!
Personally, I would like to thank you for this - often emotional - statement about Poland. In fact, you talked about your love for your home in Krakow, for Poland. I am sure that few Poles can express their feelings so openly - you know that Poles are world champions in complaining!
And I will write the rest of the comment in bullet points:
Mr and Mrs Nina 😂😂😂
Poland is a hope, the UK and USA have been a complete disgrace as the leaders of the free world and role models of democracy and capitalism.
I agree with this "complete disgrace" of the Western elites.
However, I hope that Poles (and not only them) will wake up millions of people living in Western Europe and the USA.
Probably, this awakening will mean some bloody revolution...@@planetkrakow

Dear Sir, I am happy you found what you were looking for. You will find that more people are leaving USA. "The land of the free, and the home of the brave", is gone. There is no such thing as free health care, because if you work, you are insured and they collect money from you in taxes for the National Health Fund (NFZ), and this system is hopeless because you have to wait forever for an appointment. If you are treated privately, or insured by private companies and use private clinics, it is a different matter...
Agree with you
Thank you!
This put a smile on my face as a Pole:) Thank you!
And we, the Polish, love very much!!!
My buddy's neighbor was polish, in Canada for many decades. Returned to Poland last year. Not sure if he still has Canadian passport. Regadless. This country has lost the plot. Poland has not.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, agree with you completely

Yes, yes and yes
Ged, what is the name of the group you went to in Krakow that you said was helpful for you regarding immigration issues and settling in, during your early days in Krakow? Do they also assist with obtaining citizenship via ancestry?
They are called KRAKSPIRE - we even made a video with them.
Not sure about citizen ship via ancestry
