  • Hello! This is a knit along tutorial for this easy knitted crop top, beginner friendly. I'll be explaining how to size it up or down accordingly to create the right size.
    I really hope this is helpful and easy to follow! Please let me know if you need any help :)

    STEPS
    - Cast on 30 stitches (size small, add x2 stitches to go up a size M, add X4 for L etc)
    - x4 rows rib stitch
    - x15 rows stocking stitch
    - Cast off two stitches purl wise
    - Cast off two stitches knit wise
    - DECREASE *Purl 1, purl 2 together, continue until you have 3 stitches remaining. Slip, slip, purl 2 together, purl the last 1.
    - Knit all stitches*
    - Repeat the section inside the ** until you have 12 stitches left ton the needle. (If you sized up, add the same number of stitches here.)
    - Use the same method to create the back, but make it x2 stitches larger than the front.
    -Cast off at the neck and use crochet hook to create x10 chains to form a strap.

    Amazing tutorial! For any fellow American knitters FYI these are size 10mm and 12mm, which is different from US sizes. It's U.S 15 and U.S 17 needles. I made a small practice version of this top because of that mistake :)

      Thanks so much so kind!! It will work the same with thinner yarn but you would need a few more stitches to start with, so maybe try a test square to see the size :) I'd suggest maybe 50 stitches on size 6/7 needles as a rough idea.

      You can definitely use 10mm needles :) Depending on what size you are knitting you might need to add a couple of stitches, also your tension. Try a square of x10 stitches and measure it with a tape measure. Then measure how wide you want it to be on you and you can calculate the number of stitches x x

      yes, with thinner yarn and more stitches. You'll end up doing more rows, to accommodate for the smaller stitches, so I recommend knitting a little square swatch first to count how many stitches and rows your new yarn and needles knit to calculate the changes you'll need to make to the pattern.

      You can definitely use this type of yarn, it just depends if you are happy to have bigger gaps and it would be more see through, other wise try doubling up the yarn. If you use smaller needles then you will need more stitches, but the decreasing is the same :)

    hi, first, thank you for this tutorial❤️❤️second, may i ask can i use 5 mm needles and if yes will i need to increase or decrease stitches?

      @salma allam,
      You must increase the number of stitches quite a bit__do a swatch to determine the required stitches per inches you desire.
      Happy knitting! 😎

    What yarn are you working with? What yarns do you recommend? Looks great! Barb

      Looks like it's Wool and the Gang's Crazy Sexy Wool, a 4 wpi yarn. (Wool and the Gang's "chunky" is much thicker than the "chunky" of of other brands.)

    Can I use another needle size? I have maximum 8mm. Can u give some suggestions for me? Thanks you so much for this tutorial and I'm looking forward for another crop top design.

      You can for sure use 8mm, you will need to add a few more stitches however to make it the right size for you :) Try knitting a tester and measure with a tape measure to find out how many stitches you need, then follow the decrease method the same as mine.

    How many 50g DK balls would be needed to make this in this size?

  • @tp_abby

    hi! in order to make the front and back sides without removing from the needle, does that mean you used two balls of yarn (essentially) simulataneously?

    • @imogenabbot
      @imogenabbot  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hiya! yes I used two balls of yarn, although you can cut the first one so that you can carry on with the same yarn if you want to :)

      You can, but you might need to add some more stitches so that it will be wide enough :)

    Great video! Have some crazy sexy wool leftovers but no needles yet (used for crochet). Can I ask, why do you need to cast on on a size 10 needle?

    • @imogenabbot
      @imogenabbot  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hiya! I use a smaller needle to cast on to make the beginning row look neater - It stops the very edge looking lumpy. I never knew this until I saw it being done in other tutorials :')
