What an epic build ❤ Wish I could have 3500 AEV Prospector XL down here in the Middle East 😢. Would love to utilise the 8ft rear, remove the bed and get a tray & canopy setup. Would the best platform.
I live on Lake Superior and was sure hoping you are re-priming and painting those areas you cut. If not, I can only imagine how fast the road salt would rust those fenders to hell and back.
The ginger would have to be one of the funniest dudes going long live the ginger I live for the shows he's on song like when electric truck got used to make coffee ohh my sides are still not the same after that lol but then he does it to me again in this one
My first mod would be a quick removal kit for the box. You can’t get out of a parking spot little alone an off-road trail. I used to enjoys F350 crewcab 4x4. I live near an army base. I would run the tank trails. It was the only serious off-road I could run without destroying the truck.
Shaun's driveshaft didn't break any housing on his AEV Ram 2500 build, we will be looking into Shauns next week as all parts AEV requires for that build were installed.
We do plan to re-gear this truck and add front & rear lockers but currently it looks like aftermarket lockers don't exist yet for one of the two diffs and the only re-gearing choice is 4.44 gear and the customer would prefer 4.88
How does that kit and the new tire height improve the approach, breakover and departure angles for that length of truck? Is that truck for general overlanding? How does that compare to Carli?
Pretty much all lifts improve approach, break over and departure angles, as for this kit compared to Carli suspension, I personally believe they are two completely different types of kits. The Carli is definitely designed for more high speed abuse and this is more of an overloading style kit. This truck is built to haul his sleds around and tow a small off-road trail, no major wheeling.
@@TheEPICBeardedGinger Cool ! I may have to take another look at AEV for my next build as my use case is similar to what you just described. Towing a custom toy hauler with enduros and a Jeep around Alberta/BC and to Florida, Texas, Moab and Baja, mild offroad/ maybe recovery if absolutely necessary. Don't want to race the tow rig. Don't know about the 40's though, 37's or 38's seem to fit for the amount of highway I'm looking at.
On my last Easter Jeep Safari trip, there was a guy rocking a Power Wagon on the trail. It was like watching a whale navigate a swimming pool. It got through the trails, but with a whole lot of scraping and grinding noises. It was kind of ugly to watch.
Surprisingly almost all lift kits for Ram 2500/3500s always come with a driveshaft spacer, we probably are one of the few that have been putting in custom driveshaft on builds to avoid doing transferase clocking on 4" lift builds which saves several issues that can arise with the transmission.
Everyone likely uses spacers to keep cost down and not add something that requires maintenance like a double cardin joint in a driveshaft that no one will remember to do 🤷🏻♂️
Not very impressive considering the “pros” missed the critical issue of front drive-shaft not being the right length. Sean had to disconnect the front shaft and rely on on rear drive only on the way to the arctic circle. Unacceptable.
This video and truck was built a month before we built Shaun’s, also this got the AEV driveshaft spacer as did Shauns which is all AEV provide or ever have required apparently. I am looking forward to inspecting Shaun’s Ram upon return next week 👍🏻
Just reviewed my build sheet and verified my 2024 AEV XL that was built at AEV factory had a brand new drive shaft installed I hope Sean opt tested all his gear to the max capability and capacity before goin on his trip
So all components are very high quality USA made parts, I do agree it looks like the kit doesn’t come with many parts and to most people getting spacers front and rear may seem like cheaping out but… AEV goes for the utilitarian approach, they wanted to maintain all the towing and truck capabilities hence the rear spacer block and using the OE rear leafs, they wanted to avoid having to clock the transfercase and create all kinds of issues by staying at 3” of lift height, and lastly the Ram HD trucks have over 30 front spring combinations due to the vast varying options on these trucks so to save making a coil to try and do the “jack of all trades” thing they designed a crazy cast steel spring spacer to not only lift the truck and keep the coil in its proper operation zone but also move the axle forward to provide tire clearance. Also there are a couple other neat parts but you get the gist.

I’m looking forward to seeing the next part of this project
I like the constant giggling by Paul in the background, it's good to enjoy your work.
Its about time we start talkin' full size!
We've been talking full-size for years! ha ha! Thanks for watching and cheers from the team at EPIC!

Hello. Love the confidence you guys have . You guys know your stuff. Take care and see ya next time.
when are you showing us part 2 ?
Would be nice if we could import AEV built Prospector XL’s here in Canada.

AEV kits are awesome, nice install. Wish they built kits for old trucks like 79 Bronco so I could have AEV quality.
I have that same truck in a dually. Been thinking of some bigger tires. But not that big. Looking good.
Go BIIIGGGGG! Cheers from the team at EPIC!
That's an awesome and informative build..😍😍
Thanks for watching and commenting! We'll follow-up with part 2 shortly. Cheers from the team at EPIC!
I’m jealous. That is a beast 👍🏻👍🏻
Driving it is a blast. Thanks for watching. Cheers from the team at EPIC!

Agreed! This client has a sled deck going on the back and he carries ATVs and Motorbikes, etc. Cheers from the team at EPIC!
Personally I would do a flat deck with a better departure angle myself but... this isn't my truck.
Iam going to do the flares with my Carli leveling kit
как же прекрасно работает этот дизель, мечта
I read prospector XL and assumed the Ginger took up gold panning...
Should I?...
Ha Ha Gold Panning is in our future for sure! Cheers Jon!
You're in need of another hobby aren't you?
Can you guarantee the front drive shaft won’t break the housing? Like it did with The Story Til Now’s AEV Prospector??
Shaun's driveshaft didn't break any housing on his AEV Ram 2500 build, we will be looking into Shauns next week as all parts AEV requires for that build were installed.
if rebel 2500 w/ air suspension, works with aev xl bumbers, flares and 20 inch rims and 38 tires, i will probably buy a rebel and bring to you in BC
more to add to the list, 6-piston brakes, borla exhaust, dual exhaust pipes
Don’t forget that custom front drive shaft
imagine a splined extendable drive shaft for those flexi forest lookout moments. 😉
#oversight
This truck likely won't see the type of trails Shauns does, it should be good.
Might be in part 2, but are you regearing the truck?

Curious, are the stock brakes going to stop those huge wheels?
After driving it around a bunch it brakes perfectly fine but we will be looking into possible brake upgrade options for the future.

There is definite places this truck would work well and many it wouldn't be suited for.
Whale navigating a swimming pool is my new fav saying... ha ha. Cheers from the team at EPIC!
Alright, the talking is now finish, news jobs are coming lol ;o))))))
Always.
Why a spacer and not a new drive shaft? I've never seen anyone, (admittedly on youtube), ever do this.

definitely not a cheap kit
