    Has The Sun anything to say about Hinckley C nuclear power station - years behind schedul and being built by a French company? Latest bill estimates £57 BILLION to complete it. Or Crossrail, years behind schedule and millions over-budget?

    The Glen Sannox looks good.
    Its good that the Scottish government spent £30 million upgrading Brodick Harbour on Arran, upgraded Troon harbour and subsidies the ferry ticket prices from Troon harbour on the mainland to Bordick harbour on Arran.
    On the official maiden voyage of the Glenn Sannox from Troon to Arran in rough weather the other ferries that served Arran were stuck in harbour.

    What is the average amount of passengers these ferries carry on there trips to the Islands. The boat has a capacity of 800. I would reckon that 800 capacity is way over the average passengers. I would go as far as to say these ferries have carried nothing near that figure and never will. Hundreds of millions wasted. It is total incompetence .I am led to believe there is no paper work . Blank cheques. We will never get to the bottom of it. Sturgeons SNP have been an insult to the people of Scotland. When we get Independance there has to be investigations. It doesn’t matter long it takes to get Independance. The investigations must be retrospective.

      @odunadhaigh 14 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      800 is over average capacity but it's not over peak summer demand for services to Arran. One of the reasons why Glen Sannox has a higher capacity is because existing vessels are not big enough. Arran is a very busy route, Calmac's busiest.

    P&O, Steneline, Norklink Ferries should put rival ferry from Ardrossan to Arran and locals boycott troon to Arran route and send snp government a message.

    • @odunadhaigh
      @odunadhaigh 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      None of these three companies are going to be able to put on a rival service from Ardrossan when Peel Ports seem to have little interest in accommodating ferries. These three companies would have to buy a vessel suitable for the main berth in Ardrossan and I don't think any of them have any desire to waste money.

    • @andrewscott8578
      @andrewscott8578 14 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      @odunadhaigh not a waste of money when 1 million passengers a year travel to Arran. Serco bidded for the run the last time. If anyone were to put a service from Ardrossan to Arran the troon ferry would be redundant

    • @odunadhaigh
      @odunadhaigh 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@andrewscott8578 Serco bid for it factoring in the subsidy it would receive from the public purse. Serco runs the Northlink services (to Orkney and Shetland) on the same subsidised basis; in other words it gets both fare revenue and public subsidy. The other matter is that Peel Ports won't repair the second berth in Ardrossan and won't upgrade the primary berth unless the Scottish Governments pays substantially towards the costs. Calmac didn't move some of its services out of Ardrossan because it wanted to; it had no choice. Glen Sannox doesn't physically fit in Ardrossan but a vessel of that size is needed to cope with increasing peak summer demand to Arran.

      @odunadhaigh well why put it to troon when it will take extra 30 mins crossing which means less sailings and higher fares. No train or bus links direct to ferry like ardrossan. Also no free parking like ardrossan. Ur case for switching is weak.

    Just to add from last comment, imagine £200 million to serve a small island that just closed its last bank. I'm 68 and visited Arran last year for the first time but I was on the Waverley! And would you believe it people couldn't get off the island because Cal Mac cancelled the last sailing! I won't be back to Arran again anyway, nothing but midges and rain! Certainly no Bank.

    • @odunadhaigh
      @odunadhaigh 14 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      "a small island" with the busiest summer day-tripping market of all the islands Calmac serves. Arran is in the central belt of Scotland and that's a large part of why it's so busy in the summer.

    I wouldn't go near that boat, maiden voyage 13th and left late. At least it didn't hit an iceberg. It will be in for repairs in a few weeks! Wouldn't go on it if Cal Mac paid me. Give me the Waverley anyday, at least you can depend on it!!!!

    • @odunadhaigh
      @odunadhaigh 14 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      It left late because of the weather, which was sufficiently severe that some other Calmac vessels didn't sail at all! The master of a vessel has to judge an appropriate time, weather-wise, at which to leave a harbour or enter a harbour.

    • @Ronald-o9x
      @Ronald-o9x 14 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      It only sailed because cal Mac simply couldn't afford the bad publicity again with BBC and stv aboard! He was probably told your sailing and that's it! I will never set foot on that tub, it's cursed already.@@odunadhaigh

    • @odunadhaigh
      @odunadhaigh 14 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @Ronald-o9x The master of a vessel, in law, has sole responsibility to decide when it can sail or not. He or she will not threaten people's lives, by putting to sea in dangerous conditions. Hence the delay of half an hour or so this morning.

    • @odunadhaigh
      @odunadhaigh 13 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      It left late to avoid a risk of its being smashed against the harbour wall at Troon due to high winds. Masters of vessels make decisions like this all the time for passengers' safety. You make it sound like it's something to be deplored.

      @odunadhaigh. Isn't it significant that this tub was "launched" by wee Nicola herself acting like a queen, when she was using it for SNP propaganda! She's now divorced and left the SNP almost sunk. This tub will go the same way, downwards!!!!
