there was a research event last year that made shiny caterpie have a 1/20 shiny rate so I guess you either missed it or got super unlucky

I've also been playing since the start. That's just how it goes for games like this. I've probably found 4 or 5 of them since they got released. It's just that random for everyone! Shiny makuhita has been released since 2018 and I've been looking for it and have found 0.

Free shinies my butt. I opened at least 20 research rewards for Burmy’s supposedly boosted shiny odds during Bug Out. I never got a single one.
bro, i did 30 Heracross raids to get one single shiny. we're just unlucky, high odds don't mean certain to happen. Nick has a great vid about odds
burmy was like 1/120 or 1/64 much less common than ~1/20 for hatch days

I’m just venting. It’s not a criticism of Nick. I’ve been playing regularly since 2016 without aid from additional devices. Probably around 130K Pokemon caught and no shundo from the wild or from raids yet. So I’m aware of the odds.

Avatar changes are the straw that broke the camel back. I will start playing less and stop purchases. I only looking forward to global go fest as I already paid for it

I never thought I would be genuinely embarrassed by the way my avatar looked in a game until the new appearance features rolled out. How did these customizations get green-lit by Niantic? Is nobody paying attention over there? I'm looking forward to when they release the Burka cosmetic so I can hide this abomination.
It's a data farming app. Actually developing the "game" is the least important part of its design.
This is just a way for them to do less work under the guise of inclusivity, since they won't have to develop 2 separate clothing sets for different body shapes.

3:24 That is what I have been doing for the past few event announcements. I don't get why Niantic hates their long-term player base. I haven't opened the game in 3 days and I have no FOMO anymore. I miss the days when the events were exciting for regular and returning players. Why couldn't it be a toxel hatch day or a pawmi or smoliv hatch day. At least they would have been new shinies and new pokemon (relatively). Why is Niantic determined to K.O. the golden goose of Pokemon Go? Who is so stupid at Niantic to have cleffa hatch day on Sunday and cleffairy spotlight hour on tuesday? They really hate this game.
probably because they don't want to keep the game since they would need to keep paying royalties to Nintendo as long as the game is popular, in the mean time they keep trying new things to make a game to replace Pokémon go and until then they will continue to push out just enough to keep the dwindling players happy. Once they catch their own lightning in the bottle I expect them to ditch the game.
I'm so over pawmi and smoliv. They're in eggs, and wild spawns, they stick them in EVERY FUCKING EVENT. Make the shinies available for them or I'm not interested. They're already so played out

Not free. You have use incubators and it's not a first hatch guarantee. Last hatch day I did twenty hatches and got nothing.
We should have the option to leave the avatar as is, and them removing regular ar mode is terrible. They should add more nearby battling features and other features that enhance the game, not just cosmetically.

True. I wish they would activate one of those post-raid/global-bonus icons during the mini-events that are only a few hours long e.g. raid-day/raid-hour/CD/spotlight-hour/hatch-day/research-day.
Some of these events like research/hatch are completely invisible unless you read the news and remember the timeframes to actively go out and participate. Others like spotlight routinely lead to social media posts "why are there all these X right now?"
Fine by me. Free super incubator for walking 1km and since spawns aren't affected, you can still play during the event hours normally 👍

Hear me out.. don’t know if anybody speculated this but.. rediscover kanto this week might bring mega mewtwo X and Y.. cause we(well other people) got Diancie.. Rayquaza.. kyogre.. groudon.. Latios.. (did i miss anything 😅) we kinda just went skipped over the first region legendary mega mons so.. fingers crossed? Will that be a good thing??
There's no way Mega Mewtwo isn't the last Mega we get. It will almost guaranteed be the strongest Pokémon hands down in the game.

After my luck with Riolu hatch day (hatched quite a few eggs and ended with 1 shiny Riolu towards the end) honestly I'm not sure I even want to try for Cleffa
In the future Pokemon Go if you see a dark Pokestop which it already occupied or conquered by Go grunts tap on it you will see a Kecleon invisible silhouette tap on invisible silhouette then jump down. Tap X for return to map a Kecleon already on the map. Tap on Kecleon it will show Shadow Kecleon on the catching screen.
This is how shadow Kecleon going to debut in Pokemon Go.
So players have 2 ( Grunt and Shadow Kecleon) in 1 (Pokestop).
Then players can proceed dueling with Go grunts..
I liked the hatch days but I mostly grind up to it... To get rid of my eggs then try and collect 9 new eggs and hope for the best over the next few days 🤔

Cleffa is another baby shiny I'm still missing, so I am game for this. I like it being three days.
However, I think the new customization features for your avatar feels like they need more polish. I feel like the skin color is way too light for my tastes. So many clothes are acting weird now.
I'll be refraining fro spinning stops and opening gifts just so I can get these 2km eggs, I'm saving my super incubators and hopefully will have more incubators before then.

What I'd really like to see from you is a video addressing the avatar update. I use "update" in air quotes because it's actually not an update, but a full political agenda from Niantic.
I find it very refreshing to be part of a local community located on the largest university campus in my state where players of every political view, gender and identity play together with no issues. We find common ground in the game. I've made real friendships with people far outside my personal political spectrum and would do anything for them.
What I find frustrating is that Niantic doesn't seem to realize this fact. Pushing any political agenda polarizes everyone. It's counterproductive to the original goals of the game.

What to do you mean it’s free shiny? In this world, nothing is free. You have to buy incubators to hatch eggs and not guarantee you will hatch shiny. During riolu hatch day, my alternate account get nothing.

I’m not excited about Cleffa hatch day I wish it was Budew or Happiny cause I need those shiny’s in my pogo account but the bonus is the saving grace for this I mean at least they are giving us hatch distance for free and research for the event. Yes I know we have to buy incubators from Niantic but Niantic has to make money somehow right? If not from us then where is there money going to come from then? I may hatch possibly 5 eggs or less. I like the fact that the timed research is cheap only $1.79 in my country which is Canada but except too much from me or anything else other then the bonus the hatch day sounds like a yawn burger with guac on it. hatch days.... maybe i'm in a complainy mood today but i really don't care about hatch days. i don't go out of my way to hatch eggs as they're not really an effective method to get much of anything. just kinda something i do over the course of the week at work. being that i'm at a warehouse job it's fairly easy to hatch a few eggs over the course of a week, so a hatch day is really just telling me that i shouldn't bother hatching my eggs because the egg pools are gonna be ruined that day and i'll be hatching cleffas for weeks to come. not to mention i won't get that boosted shiny rate, just all the cleffas, so... pretty much just fk it, yano?
