Thank you for the video. It brought back many happy memories of when I used to stay there with my grandparents in the 70's. It's sad they changed it to adults only but I guess it made sense as other than the beach there was little for kids to do close to Pontins.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. They are currently allowing children during school holidays, but I dont know if they plan to keep doing that next year or if it's only while a lot of the usual clientele have been sheltering. 😊
I went with the same opinion as you but I enjoyed my holiday so much that I booked straight away for this year. Our first was not an adults only but I believe this years is.
Have you tried Sands Bay, that's an adults only park and it's nice. Similar to Pakefield, but smaller and the staff were really friendly. I enjoyed my adult breaks despite what a lot of people say about Pontins holidays, but I think Pakefield and Sands Bay are moving away from the Pontins brand a bit.
I'm staying there now a lot as changed now I have had a lovely time at Sandbay Holliday village The pontins name as now gone from the entrance now great video keep up with the good work
Thank you. I think they started moving away from the Pontins brand a while back. Its sad to see them go under, but hopefully, Sand Bay will survive as it wasn't as bad as the others.
I have a lot of time for Sand bay . Its very WW2 era and hasnt been modernised except for the old roadside sheds now selling for Half a million pounds each . ! The beach isnt bad at all and for walkers its bliss . Plus side, there are no amusement halls, no tattooist parlours , just a few quaint coffee shops . Pontins gives amazing value for people on small incomes who want a getaway break for the weekend or week . People who visit tend to return year on for years . Weston itself is just a 5 minute bus ride on an open topped bus and the sea has many nice views across to Wales and the Holm Islands .
I agree. There isn't that much for younger people, but it's ideal for people who want a good, fun, mature break. I can see why a lot of people go back year after year.
Googled, as I now have mobility issues but can get to Sand Bay. It looks much better than expected and has better reviews than other camps. I am still wary, as it is Pontins. Experience of Brean tells really is down to luck, iro of getting a clean chalet.
I think Sand Bay is one of the nicer ones. As it's an adults only park, the clientele is mainly mature and calm. It's very different to Camber Sands. It's not a huge resort, and it's mostly flat so I think you'll be fine.
I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but we had a good time too. Yes, they had a few problems, but i think a lot of holiday parks struggled after lockdown. We're looking forward to going back for the turkey and tinsel break later this year. 😊
It reminded me a bit of the old Hi-De-Hi chalets. It's a shame they haven't been able to refurbish all the chalets, but the new ones we peaked into looked good. 😊
Excellent video. Very helpful. Not much on Sand Bay apart from a few old videos on here, you showed and explained a lot about it. Going later this month. Thanks for the video.
Thank you, I'm glad you found it useful. It wasn't a perfect holiday, but we had a good time. I hope things are back to normal by the time you go, with any luck the meals will be buffet again which will help a lot, if not write down what you would like and order plenty of drinks because you possibly won't get served again. We took breakfast snack bars just in case 😉
I was curious about this park when looking around Sand Bay, as just down the road from Weston Super Mare. Liked how it was just over the road from the small beach. Was apprehensive due to some reviews of some Pontins, but this seems a good park. Maybe as it's just for adults. I like the outdoor gym.
We were worried about the same thing, but I think you're right, because most of the guests are mature everything has been treated well and the people are all so friendly. They were still refurbishing some of the rooms, and the newer ones looked really nice. The only thing I missed was swimming and I believe the pool is still closed from reading the online reviews.
The older rooms are dated, but ours was clean and comfortable, and we didn't spend that much time in the room. I hope they have updated the rest of the chalets by the time we go back, or we get a refurbed one so that we can see the difference. I think it will be a while though, as like most companies, they are trying to recoup the money lost during lockdown.
I do see a lot of negative comments about the self catering/family parks. I think the adults only (Sand Bay and Pakefield), generally speaking, tend to be a bit better. We're going to Camber Sands soon, so I'll let you all know . If you can, I would try Sand Bay as it was fine, and probably even better now that the restrictions have eased.
Great Video , great informative style . We are going pontins Pakefield in August and wondered how covid would effect it. You answered all the questions i had . Well done 👏
We're going end of July for the first time. It was a last minute decision based on this holiday to Sand Bay. Have you been for the turkey and tinsel breaks before?
@@KarionTravelling yes we went in 2019 for turkey and Tinsel , it was very good . A nice Christmasy feel. Lots of trees and entertainment for Christmas 🎄
We were very dubious about going after reading the recent reviews, and I agree that the queuing and long waits to be served were an issue. But, the room was fine and the entertainment was very good. I would like to go back, and hopefully stay in a refurbished room to see the difference. 😊
Yes, I think it was a redcoat reunion, because we were talking to a gentlemen in reception saying how funny it was having a reunion at 'the competition' 😁
that was us..we were happy just to be there ...we still had all the guitars and double and just sung and laughed on the chalet line...its brilliant for £79 and last year all the staff was their first weekend there ...usually the food is very good and they allow us to take over the tv room and have a late night sing song with campers till the early morning
@@jackjohns9815 we went back for Christmas and that was really fun. There were less restrictions in place, and everyone seemed to enjoy it a lot. I know Pontins has a bad rep, but this park was fine. 😁
There is nothing good about pontins. I’d rather sleep in the bin hahaha! I been to 2 of them and it was unbelievable. Check my videos and see the state
I think Pontins is like Marmite, you either like it or hate it. The three we have visited have been OK, but I've read some horror stories. It will be interesting to see what you found in your videos. 😊
i live i a 3rd world country , and many resorts have better service than that, even if the physical fscilities are comparable. maybe its the strict labor laws an d labor unions encourag8ng lazy service. in my country you can call out the management and employees if your not satisfied and they will accomodate you.
I think the hospitality industry in general has taken a battering this year and a lot of places we have visited have not been up to scratch. Sand Bay wasn't quite up to what we were expecting, but it could have been much worse. I think losing a lot of staff is making it hard on the ones left, it's such a shame.
Obviously. I have stayed in amazing resorts, many of them 5 stars in 3rd world countries for less than £10 a night because the cost of living is lower and people are paid less. Pontins has no stars and is known to be bad but are the cheapest resorts in the UK. Other resorts and hotels which cost a lot more, are more attentive.
this is a big lie we went after watching this an other reviews.it is disgusting you will think with this covid it will be clean No.tou pay for duvet cover £20 for dbl £10 for sgl an its not quality you can think off keeping.you pay for eletric.you queue for swimming for ours an only open for booking 5-6pm it is a joke.thy dont wana pay for app as thy hv to keep it running.the is alot you spend your time walking aroud asking for the things that shud be in room.
Did you stay at Sand Bay? We had electricity included, but I've seen on the website that the standard apartments in the self catering parks do not include electricity. We had an email with two linen options, bring our own or call and add a linen pack, we took our own, but found the beds had been made up anyway but we weren't charged. The swimming pool was closed when we went, but I agree opening for an hour a day to book a slot does seem very silly.

An excellent video & i particularly like the very professional camera work. Well done.
I'm glad you found it useful, and thank you for taking the time to comment.
We went to pakefield Pontins last year but was not given any soap. We served our own food and it was marvellous.
We really enjoyed it. The fitness event made it feel different to a normal holiday, and I would do one again.

Update clearly needed. Grotty not a calming and relaxing place that holiday accommodation should be.

was it Catherine McGrath singing?
We knew her as Cat, so quite possibly.
Omg I was wandering why you took that photo of the lady using her husbands head as armrest. It made me giggle too
The poor man probably had a dent in his head but the end of the evening the wait times were so long, luckily things were much better in November. 😊

Its really bad lol
It's definitely not everyone's cup of tea, but we had a good time. It's like stepping back into the 1950s and Hi-Di-Hi.
