My great-grandmother was the choir director at Apostolic Temple out here in South Bend, IN. She used to stay up late and record (on a reel-to-reel recorder!) the church services on the radio out of Chicago. She would give the tapes to my mother and have her transcribe some of those songs so her choir could sing that soulful music. And brother, if this is still the same kind of music coming out of Chicago, it's easy to see why she loved it. If I'm ever your way on a Sunday, you bet I'll come by!

most songs open in different keys... same with the end. For example, some song(s) open on F or Em...and end on Bb (B flat) or Ab-minor (A flat-minor) - for some during the verse(s) or before the chorus, there will be a key you hardly ever hear played called Em7b5...but it can vary.
