Great lens for sure, people be sleeping on lenses just because they are not 2.8 the thing is that these lenses are very sharp wide open or stopped down. This was the very first lens I started using one my world tour and it was a blaster for both video and stills. Learn to push your backgrounds further away from your subjects and you will get some mind-blowing images at 4F super sharp. I never heard of a 4F lens doing 2.8 but hey cheers if you get the results you want. I'll never sell this lens no matter what. can use it on the RF system with an adaptor. Your images look great. It's the skills that combine with the tools is what makes a masterpiece. I love the grain, today's crowd only talks about sharpness, when you master darkness and light you can use any old lens and really make the new ones seems like they have no place...🙂🙂people are still editing their photos to look like film that fuji x100v camera is a hot seller and just keeps on selling out. Keep shooting great to see your images.
Hello, i hope you see this comment. I need help deciding what my next lens will be. Upgrading from my kit lens, 18-55mm . I came with the Canon Rebel T7. I interested my self in event photography. Ive done 2 events so far. I have a 3rd event coming up. I want to get a wide angel lens with f/2.8 to let more light when taking event photos inside. I was thinking about the canon EF 16-35mm F4L IS USM. Only because i saw it for about $400 on best buy. Thas a prime lens if im not mistaken. My other option is the Sigma 18-25mm F1.8. If i use flash, i wont need that F1.8 aperture. I could use the prime lens for better image quality and take advantage of the primera lense, am i correct? I hope you see this comment and help me decide. I just started photography. Thank for your time.
ChatGPT said that here is no lens converter or adapter that can make the Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM into an f/2.8 lens. Can you tell more about that? 01:40
They’re called speed boosters! Here’s the description of them: “Speedbooster lens mount adapter, can increase the lens 1 f-stop, increasing the amount of light into the virtual background, can better highlight the theme, features electronic contacts, support EF series lens auto focus and vibration compensation.” “Mount adapter speed booster, allows the aperture to be increased by one stop while the focal length is reduced (Equivalent Focal Length = Focal Length x 0.71 x 1.6), increasing the lens' 1 f-stop, resulting in better bokeh in photos.” Thanks for commenting! Hope this helps others wondering the same thing since I didn’t really explain it in the video 🫶
I just bought a 17-35 2.8L that nobody has even heard of it seems lol but i shoot with it at F4 anyway between 17-24 where only 24-35 are sharp at 2.8, it was a 300$ pickup in mint condition from Japan, but i seriously love this lens
I think he's talking about a speedbooster used on a crop sensor camera, which wouldn't actually make it behave like a 2.8 lens. It would just make it act more like a 4.0 lens on full frame.
hey! I mentioned I was using a Panasonic Lumix g7 for the photos! So I was using a micro 4/3 converter (Complete) that had a speed booster on it. I would reconsider getting this lens if you're stumped with the f/4 and grab that L series 15-35mm f/2.8 !
Yes but only if you have to use it outside for the most part. If you have to shoot inside a church or a reception, you might struggle given that it has a maximum aperture of f4; unless you don't mind bumping your ISO.
its plenty sharp. some what softer in the corners. But this lens has been used by countless phographers. I find the images to have a better color rendition and vibe to them in comparison to the 16-35 f4. I am using it on an original 5d and the images are stunning. look at explore cams website. canon 5d with the 17-40 f4. look at the sample images. you will see, its a stunning performer for the price
I rate it very high. Picked up a mint 17-40mm F4 for $200! I’m so happy with mine.

couldn't have said it better myself! Thanks for watching and commenting!!
Agreed, the lens makes the colors etc looking more "vintage"

So glad I came across your channel I am in the DFW metro as well
Glad you liked it! Moved to Miami a few months ago but DFW is home!
do you mind sharing what adapter you used to make it a 2.8? i've been considering this lens but i'm not a big fan that it's an f4 lol
yes tell!
It was the Complete Micro 4/3 to EF Adapter!

Man!I love your way editing these pics!btw is it worth today to buy it with 100$? How about comparing with RF 16mm F2.8?
That would be a good idea 🤔 I should cover some of the more budget friendly RF lenses
yeah, since there still be users using r,rp,r8, may be short on budget in rf lenses@@JustcallmeTags
Binging on some Tags! You have such a calming way about your videos
😭 Robert the GOAT! Thank you!
what booster to you have sir ? thank you for full frame dslr camera
For this video I was using a Micro 4/3 camera so it wasn't a full frame booster! I'm actually not too sure which one would work for full frame 🤔
Hello what camera did you use in this ?
Lumix g7 🤝
Hey man, love your channel! keep making more videos 😀
is this an APS-C only lens?
No! It’s actually a full frame lens
Viltrox speedbooster? Witch câmera?
What converter are you using? 1:56

What @davidfarr3591 said!
I have a 5d mkiii and a 17-40mm like yours... what 'converter' are you using to make it f2.8?
I would like to know this too
That “converter” would be super useful for my 150-600
He’s likely using a Speedbooster.
They give you 1 extra stop of light.
Guysi think that the speed boosters arent made for full frame canons…

what is your camera?
blessings!
Blessings!
Love this !!
Glad you enjoyed brother! Stay up!
Thank you for making this video.
thank you for watching this video!
Ah man sorry to hear that.
is there a sony emount equivalent ?
I'm not sure, but the base purpose of the video is don't judge a lens by it's f/stop! Give those lower f/stop lenses a try, they might surprise you!
would this lens be good for wedding photogarphy
Yes but only if you have to use it outside for the most part. If you have to shoot inside a church or a reception, you might struggle given that it has a maximum aperture of f4; unless you don't mind bumping your ISO.
what he said ^^ Geez you guys are the best, answering all the questions 🤎

So many it’s crazy
Que vídeo maravilhoso! 🖤
Why the youtubers make coffee and film it?
can't speak for everyone else, but I like making coffee, figured other people might like it! So I filmed it lol. simple as that
What Canon EF lens should i be looking at for Vlogging?
For an L lens, this lens doesn't appear to be sharp.
