- Hey guys, I am back with another video, thanks for tuning in! Today, I am going to be vertically mounting the GPU in my NZXT H9 Flow Case. Will the temps differ between being horizontally mounted versus vertically mounted?

Just did this to my rig, aside from aesthetics i feel like it’s less stress on the motherboard especially with the new 40 series cards.
100% agree. Even with the sag bracket, still felt like the PCIe slot was being stressed and the GPU almost felt like it was twisting. This seems much safer for both the board and the GPU 👍🏻

Just vertically mounted my 4070ti in a montech sky 2 case with the same kit and it looks much better than horizontal. Had to get AIO cooler to fit but it was worth it. Couldn’t fit bottom fans anymore but all in all still worth it
Going to try and raise the mount to include my bottom fan. Saw that was an options after getting closer to the end of the video.

I'm glad you went with the cooler master v3. Heaven is a decent benchmark but I prefer to use 3Dmark. In my testing vertical is 1-3 C higher than than horizontal depending on the conditions of the room.
Great kit! I was a little nervous about it and really wanted the NZXT one, but this kit ended up working out better than I thought.
Oooohhh nice, I ordered my vertical mount on Amazon but it is a nzxt and waited for it. So far Amazon has kept delaying my order and now I know why. Looked for a 3rd party one and your video was the first to pop up lol. Doing the switch and getting this one thank you.

Is it possible to use the Lian li Strimmer cable with the holder or can you only use the cable that comes with it? Great video btw :)
Thanks! This holder will have nothing to do with the ability to use those cables. It’s only going to place your GPU in a vertical position, and you can use the Strimer cables like normal. Unless I don’t understand your question
I'm curious if that would work in my setup. I have the same case, the H9 flow but in white with a 310 MERC 7900xt. Only thing i'm wondering is i'm running an air cooler, a Thermalright Phantom Spirit. Would there be enough clearance ?

Depends on what case you have. This Cooler Master kit seems to fit most cases but I’d do some research on your case and see what fits. I found Reddit posts that said this kit fit my case.

@@random_dud3312 Going to be hard to know what kit fits your case if you don't know exactly what model it is. Google "Thermaltake mid tower" and see which one it is. Then once you do, Google your case with vertical GPU mount, and you should find some info on what might fit.
This may be a late comment, but I am noticing lack of space between your gpu and air cooler tower if using a big chunky air cooler. Even setting it on the lowest I think it wouldn't work out with the noctua dh-15 or any other bigger air cooler
Just visualizing a big air cooler btw. I know you have an aio, but it seems like vertical mounting is made for aio's and not air coolers
This vertical GPU mount can be slotted down one slot, so the GPU would sit lower to make room for a big air cooler. I don’t think it would be an issue but have not tried it. In the video, I had the kit mounted as high as it can go, but I could have mounted one slot down.
@@DanKamYouKnow Thanks for the info, I'm planning on building a new build eventually and want to go with vertically mounting my gpu. I think temps vary depending on case airflow and room temps. Mainly it's for aesthetics and not temp drops

Quick question mate, is there any way to get rid of the big gap you can see through, between the GPU and the back of the case?
I thought about this and think if you cut a black piece of paper to the size of the gap and place it in there, I think it would work.

Bought a 4090. Didn’t fit my case because of its length.

Yes the panel wont go on because of the cable. Thought about getting a cablemod adaptor but have decided to go vertical. Delivered tomorrow @@DanKamYouKnow
Cable mod cable would definitely fix that. You could also run one of their cables when it’s vertical too, it would look really clean

What about FPS? Maybe the temperature remained the same because the fans started spinning faster or the card clock speed decreased?
Same conditions for both. The benchmark put both of them at 2115mhz clock and resulted in nearly identical temps. FPS wouldn’t change.
I have a PCI-E USB expansion card at the bottom slot of my MOBO and Case. Would this interfere with being able to use that? Thanks!
No, it will not. There is almost no room from the vertical mount to the motherboard.
Just bought this one because my 3070 rog didn't fit on my case (in win 101 with 240 radiator) but my temps are horrible about 80° while gaming, i have to keep the case open so it goes around 60°
Interesting. Normally, going vertical will raise temps a little bit, but I noticed none with my current case. What are you going to do?

bought the nzxt kit for my nzxt 7 case now i dont have any slots for my wifi antennas, what should i do to run the antenna connections? my card doesnt have wifi built in
I am not sure I understand your question. This is a PCIe WiFi card? If the vertical mount gets in the way, you may have to get a different WiFi card.

Do you have a suggestion for keeping the riser cable in the mother board ? New style MB like Asus x670e-f has a push button release. Doesnt seem to hold the riser cables as well as the traditional style pci locking mechinism.

I wonder why the company decided to do away with the fans at 45 degree angle on the H9 vs H6 flow which has low temps, and place the H9 fans at the back vs the front. Odd.
Got this vertical mount yesterday and everything runs smooth, it also looks very beautiful ^^
But for some reason it doesn't show me the temperature anymore? Could someone pls tell me what the reason may be?

Thanks for this video. I specifically searched out H9 and vertical mount to find this. I did a video on the EZDIY-FAB vertical GPU mount in my H7. I'm upgrading to the H9 and repurposing my H7. With that being said, I've realized the EZDIY vertical mount is not strong enough to support a huge 4090 on it's own. It has a foot that works perfectly sitting on the bottom of the H7 case. However, the H9 has no bottom for the foot to sit on. I've seen pictures of the H9 case with GPU's supported by aftermarket rods and stands, but they look ugly in this otherwise beautiful case.
Under vault your gpu using ASUS software, I dropped by 30% power and only lost about 5% fps crazy
I normally have a slight under-volt but I returned all settings to default for these tests.

Ure System is beautiful. Iam planning to build a new pc when the 5000er series releases. Iam also planning to use that mount in a h9 flow. Thinking about building a white build with descent black elements. But I have to admit that black is looking really good :D especially with that fans. I might have to think about that xD

This case can fit some massive GPU’s so I don’t see an issue with why it wouldn’t work. The H9 Flow can fit a GPU up to 435mm of length

Depends on which orientation you like. I much prefer vertical so I usually always go that route. The V3 CM will work great for it.
it looks good. honestly though i feel like i like the classic horizontal orientation more in this case with MOST GPU's. Select gpu's do look really awesome though when vertical. Kinda feel like the vertical look just makes the whole rig look like nothing but a big box of fans. and if the fans arent even moving on the gpu its even worse looking. I think its a little overrated now and everyone seems to wanna do it. I think thats mainly because people are used to seeing the horizontal way for so long that they just gravitate towards whatever looks diffrent or unique now. Like i said for myself though it just has a visual of way too many sets of fans. But theres a few specific gpu's that do look incredibly better when they are horizontal. I think it all depends on the gpu really.
I understand what you’re saying. I visually like it more but I also like how it takes stress off the PCIe slot on the motherboard, and isn’t stressing the GPU itself. Most of the gigantic GPU’s all seem to be twisting, even with a sag bracket, so I like how going vertical completely eliminates that.

I would like to get the mount for my 3090 but I have a wifi card in one of my pcie slots. Is that going to be an issue and if so any ways to get around it?
It would probably be a very tight fit if you have PCIe devices plugged in. The mount can be moved forward but I don’t know if it would give you enough room to fit that card unfortunately

Any larger case should work with that GPU. I have really enjoyed using this case for the past few months.

@ahmeddan4678 The Lian Li fans are connected to the Lian Li fan controller that came with the fans, and the controller is plugged into a USB header on the motherboard. 👍🏻
