3D Printed Hydroplaning RC Car Tires - Driving on Sand!

  • This is the 3D printed hydroplaning RC car tires versus a ramp. I was curious to know if it would be possible to drive on sand, hit the ramp and then continue driving on water. I also did some more testing with the paddles wheels on sand, both the acceleration and traction was significantly better than the stock wheels. Sweden is freezing and the sand was packed very hard, I will have to do some more testing once the weather improves.

Dude, as a fellow youtuber, I have to say you have NAILED shooting solo. I shoot alone as well and the time and effort that would have gone into creating this video does not go unnoticed.
    Visually beautiful, fun and educational.

Not sure how I missed this video when it came out, but thanks for answering my question. That makes the wheel design even more impressive that it runs on water, yet not dependent on buoyancy. Nice video by the way.

8:22 The rear tires had soooo much power here! They caused the front of the car to lift up and flip over! I think a good way to counter-act this would be to put more weight in front of the vehicle by extending the chassis length. Try doubling it! Maybe even widening wheelbase width as well.
5:25 Since the tires hold air and have buoyancy, if you double the size of the tires so they can hold more air then the car might be able to float on it's own while in a rested position. Think MoNsT3R Truck TiR3S! : )

I’m new to 3D prints having not even received my cr10, but was wandering, do you need to match the nozzle size to the filament..?
I’m guessing you do but that would suggest that you need to change the nozzle every time you adjust layer thickness.
    Much appreciated.

For ice tires just print thin flexible tires and use "tegnstifter"(the flathead type you use to hang posters) pokin out from the inside of the tire.

    Hey Simon,
I've got another Idea to improve your driving on water : print a small case with a fan in it, put some small pipes on it which came out under the car to create an air mattress. That's what cruise liner do to save some power.
