Make sure you have followed the steps correctly, and check your run if you have any error.

Primary Swatch works with specific colors, but there are methods that convert colors codes, make it readable for Swatch color. Search it on Google

Yeah works fine, I have used a custom theme method, you need to specify for each widget the dark colors and light colors which I have done some of in the tutorial.
