When they migrate, they pack up and their leader (that holds the mini sentry) is in charge of the pack, leading them to a warmer area, they also protect grouneers from attacks from spy crabs, soldier eagles, and wild demopans.

Sentries have friendly fire towards the engi that built it. It will not aim at him, but if an enemy is behind him (in this case the red engi) the sentry will try to fire at the enemy and hit the owner instead.

You can join 2fort community servers if u want, they can get friendly very easily. I once traded the Intel for a sandvich
Join after midnight, there are more friendly servers in my experience that late but obviously you cant do that much if you have a life.
So those engineers were the ones that put those sentries at the tr_walkway easter egg
