Does that slider on the amp affect the frequencies of bass, mid, and high knobs? Like if you slide the 4 sliders on the right side down would that cut the mids and lows?
I know Justin cuts his mids, but Cliff Burton had a similar set up wirh his mesa d-180+'s: the three(4?) sliders on the right were slid half way down from the middle.
Sorry if this all confusing but your insight would be helpful.

I think you're talking about the graphic EQ. Yes, it makes a huge different in the sound when you turn it on and especially if you do drastically big changes. Also the 4 right sliders are for MIDs and HIs. The 2 left are for the LOWs. I hope that answers your question.
I am a HUGE fan of both Justin & Cliff. In this video tho I wasn't trying to replicate the sound of them or specifically TOOL (since I am playing their riffs). I am just using my preferred settings. 🤘💀🤘

@@KostasSiozos that explains it! And helps prove my theory about Cliff's lead and rhythm tone being more a result cut mids, highs on the clean amp, and cut bass, maxed mids highs on the drive amp. It's super unusual it seems.
Great playthrough on your part too! Great tone and thank you for taking time to respond!

It's a shame they don't make those 4x12s anymore. Been trying to track one down used is a nightmare

I know… I found mine last year and I bought it immediately. If you’re in the US, you might find one on reverb. Thank you for watching 🤘💀🤘

@@KostasSiozosgot one when Sam ash was going out of business. It was “broken” only needed a new speaker. Got it for $200 and it had the original mesa casters. That’s usually another $90 to buy them because people keep them. Works on guitar cabs too. Nice and heavy duty. Deals are around just have to hunt. In person negotiations with cash will always beat reverb and eBay. Support a smaller shop if you have any existing. Mine are all disappearing around here. So sad.
