Hi everyone I've been asked this question a few times so I decided to pin a comment about it :) I said in the video that the statue was "destroyed by a fire" but should have said "destroyed with fire." It was intentionally destroyed in 1896. Here is an article about it: worldsfairchicago1893.com/2021/08/28/death-of-the-republic-the-fiery-end-to-the-golden-colossus-of-the-1893-worlds-fair/
Or they build this beautiful city in just under 2 years just to be torn down? I believe they had resets when technology got to impressive over Big Money.
Nikola Teslas technology was being kept from us once they realized they couldn't make money from us. Mad world.
My great grandmother took the lake Michigan steamer from Milwaukee to Chicago, to the world's fair. It was a marvel of architecture and light.
Wonderful video! I find it hard to believe this was built in 2 years.
It wasn’t. The lies they have told about all of this is insane. Absolutely false narrative about the whole thing.
that's because it wassn't...if the "1 building remaining" isn't made of plaster, why do you think the rest were? use your heads people, you've been lied to since the start
Everything was already there They did not build it only for the fair It had to be demolished to kill the real history of America
@@Fredsta4christall left behind: The art institute of Chicago building. The Bears stadium that was turned into that. Museum’s science of industry building. The Field museum of Chicago. Navy pier/Ferris wheel is. The other person who stated 67th and south shore… park district house I think it is now. The food that was supplied for fair was from Chicago stock yards. Outer of building still alive. The trains in the fair still in Chicago not sure if they still do it, but every year they would bring the first trains out for a ride ect…
It was already there, the controllers inherited it, and change of calender and dates don't add up, "founded" I890 they changed the I into a 1 🤔
How does a statue, isolated on the water, get destroyed by a FIRE? Or all the magnificent STONE and plaster classical buildings?
It was deliberately set on fire in 1896. By order from the park commissioners.
@@erikaramirez6958 Nothing shady about that...
I presume dynamite preceded the so called 'fire'!
Ask Maui 🤐
The statue was hollow and was deteriorating rapidly In January of 1896 it was deceived to eliminate it in a grand way, since it was the symbol of the fair. Since the Court of Honor was destroyed by arson in January of 1894, it was decided to torch it. The interior was loaded with flammable materials and torched. A large part of the city turned out to see this. The Great Basin was left alone until the Jackson Park rehab around 1904. In the winter it was used as an ice skating rink.
MASONIC MUMMIES PLAYING with my ANCESTORS artifacts
There's actually an infamously overproduced silver half dollar for coin collectors like me out there - there are so many of these, and since many of them were either left untouched with 1893 fair memorabilia or were not handed out by the Mint that they can still be obtained in mint (virtually untouched) condition today. There's also a quarter made by the Board of Lady Managers of Isabella, the queen funding the Columbus expedition - THIS one is tough to find, and very valuable!
1:55 Statue destroyed by fire in the miiddle of WATER??!!!
Amazing haul! I wish they still held world's fairs like this, they always look so incredibly fascinating.
Agreed!!
They do. They're just too focused in topic today to be general like these were. I believe they're called expos - Dubai had one starting in 2020 that is (IIRC) still ongoing.
@@Pdstorexpo 2020 dubai was from Oct 1, 2021 - Mar 31, 2022
Global elites and China would never allow it. And let's be honest, what would the exhibits consist of? If they were honest they would show future concentration camps and "food" made from bugs and dirt?? That's their future vision for humanity. Nothing uplifting and progressive AT ALL.
There is actually one more world fair building left..it's a small one, and is being redone, but it's located on 67th and South Shore Drive for any Chicago folks interested in seeing it. Most of us pass by it everyday and see it but don't pay it any attention.
How was the statue destroyed by fire, it has been said that it was actually partially if not fully covered in gold. So i guess my question is where was it at when the fire destroyed it?
I have been collecting 1893 Columbia Exposisition memorabilia for a long time. One of my favorites is a small ruby glass cup engraved Effie Sohn, Worlds Fair 1893, I managed to trace her down, she was from Indiana and sadly died in 1912 of TB . At the age of 29
Wow, such a personal connection, it's amazing you were able to track her down
FASCINATING!!!
No way was this built in 3 years! You wouldn’t even prepare the land or build the lakes in that time!
The official story of the World Fairs is suspect .
You need to look at the glaring inconsistencies in the official accounts with everyone else - we're not putting up with the official excuses any more. We see what they are capable of building in this crappy new world - and what they aren't.
Charming and educational video. Thanks for sharing with us!
Wrong about the plaster materials , all the buildings were not made out of this with Hemp, no way, and what about in Paris and St, Louis among many other World Fairs all over the world between 1875-1915 , that mainstream narrative is BS ! I thought it was Teslas AC lightening systems that lit up the 1893 Chicago World Fair and not Edison inefficient DC ones !!
"The Chicago World Fair was illuminated using Nikola Tesla’s neon fluorescent lighting powered by his A/C system, it was a spectacle that amazed the world. The battle came to a head at the 1893 Chicago World Fair. "
The Art Institute of Chicago is also a 1893 world's fair building. It is the only building built outside the fairs ground. Named the World Congress.
I remember my public library growing up (80's) had several stereoscopes in one area and a chest of drawers of stereoscope photos to look at. Wonder where they all went...
Very cool! Eric Larson’s book, Devil in the White City is a fascinating read if you hadn’t read this yet
That book is a tremendous read.
I just started reading it.
my gf has a metal bracelet copper i believe thats was made in the fair, it has the year and the scenery with blimps and everything.
My Grandfather actually attended the exposition as a representative of Russia ( he was in the Imperial Russian Navy) and he is mentioned in the reference book that was written at the time about the exposition :-)
Wow!!
I am reading a book, called Devil in the White City, If you haven't read it you may really enjoy it!
Utter nonsense ! 3 years to build this, look at the size of this expo one of the buildings was 8.5 million cubic metres
I came here to say the same thing LOL! Who believes this garbage ???
I like your enthusiasm and precision. 👌
Thank you!
She's gotta pretty mouf eh?
Wow, two videos in a month! Hopefully that's a sign you will be posting regularly.
I collect 1893 exposition souvenirs. I have all the entry tickets, a re-entry ticket, a watch case opener, a HEINZ pickle, and soon to be a number of more items
Cool video like the toys you got from the fair I would love to see those periodicals you got there that Scientific American looks real interesting. I had a friend who was into all the world fair stuff he had ticket stubs most were first day opening day TIX from 1876 to 1964 he also collected post cards ones with notes on the back like HAD A GREAT TIME AT THE FAIR WISH YOU WERE HERE LOVE AUNT BETTY. He had some pretty interesting trinkets from past fairs too you got some great stuff there too
That's so cool, I love discovering personal touches like that. So far I've really only ever delved into the Chicago World's Fair of 1893, but am definitely interested in learning more about all the others!
@@TheCuriousWorld Later I will check the videos of you reading the old newspapers you have there those should be interesting too
@@TheCuriousWorld I would love to go antique shopping with you and see what we would pick up together
I have a booklet called Bloomers Directory of Chicago and the World's Columbian Exposition. I don't know if it's real and I can't find a single thing about it on the internet. Any ideas or info? Thanks
would be very interested to see in it
I would love to have you read more about this
"Influence of surroundings in producing insanity."
Stereoscopes were really the precursors to VR.
I remember playing with a large Colombian Exposition coin that my mother had as a child. I wonder if it’s still around.
I didn’t know that the Ferris wheel was named after the man who fabricated the grand Ferris wheel at the world fair. Such a cool fact!!!
Wow, I thought i was the only one who collected Worlds Fair Memorabilia. My collection is from the 1939 New York and San Francisco World's Fair. I find this fascinating and have collecting fornavout 40 years.
Back then it was the Republic of the United States. that Statue-replica that was originally 64 foot statue has a lot of meaning, if you understand history. thank you for the video
I'm sorry, but, the two stereo slides in color are of the 1904 world's fair in St. Louis.
How did the fire jump the water and burn up the statue?
Great question--ultimately it was actually deliberately burned. Here's a pretty interesting article: worldsfairchicago1893.com/2021/08/28/death-of-the-republic-the-fiery-end-to-the-golden-colossus-of-the-1893-worlds-fair/
Wow!!! Loved this video!!!
I've always found this story intriguing
I am so jealous of your collection!
Great video, I’ve always been intrigued about world fairs, especially the Chicago World Fair, I love how fascinated and dedicated you are to it
Thank you!
I would love to get some stereoscopic cards of the fair. Any suggestions on where to find some?
I'd recommend looking on eBay, or looking around at antique stores. I've found that stereocards are often thrown together in a shoebox in antique stores without any real organization, so you have to really go through every single one to look at the images/descriptions to see if it's from the Fair. I've found one or two that way! (Fingers get very dirty and dusty, but it's worth it)
Very informative! Thanks!
Great video
Do you recommend any illustrated books on the Fair?
Found a 1893 worlds fair souvenir spoon while metal detecting in New Hampshire. I could send you a pic if you’d like to see. Just not sure where to send it. I think I’ve got a video on my channel of where I found it.
this video is better than the void history videos.
this is so cool 😎🤩
Great vid
The native people were exhibits not exhibitionors. And it matters to talk about who was captive and who was free on the fair grounds.
you should defiantly find a Colombian half dollar!! and although quite a bit more expensive look up the history of the Isabella quarter!
Maybe it was the tartarian empire from a old world used for the fair
This young girl was so sweet in her amazing efforts to make this historical event come to life.
İ missed you so much.I am so happy when you uploaded a new video every time.
Sure only 1 was built to be ..
...well bullshit
Seems messed up that Ferris gets all the credit for the Wheel 😂 Will admit it must have been crazy to go that high up back then
I like your appreciation of history.
Even today the ferris wheels dont hold 50 people per compartment
Well done...All the Worlds Fair are puzzling at best...Thank you for the I think Important information. It's pretty evident we are the inheritors of a vast empire of impossible structures we can't afford to build even with advanced technology. Looking forward to the next adventure. ❤
Thank You for your video. I have a question, is the ticket booth still being housed at a Frank Lloyd Wrigjt in Oak Park, Ill?
Why would they build all it just to tear it down
Bridget, please come back to your Russian channel, and tell the truth, not the official political propaganda. we miss you
Yes, the "TRUTH" would be appreciated !
HA its so funny how you guys are suddenly on the wrong side of history and havent realized it. maybe when all the people you like take the "other side" its because you're wrong?
Love you😁♥️♥️♥️♥️
I have an original Bicentennial Washington cherry liquor bottle with the original alcohol still inside, bullets recovered from Gettysburg, a Punjabi sword and an East German visor cap
How about the L platform the original one built into Jackson Park how about all the lagoons that existed for the gondola ride from the L platform to what is now the museum of science industry down the midway 55th St.? Why don’t you talk about what actually exist at this point, and some of the things that existed in conjunction with the worlds fair
Lovely video thanks. The bug on your wall was very distracting but I enjoyed
Two thumbs up
Not related but nice to hear of a famous Beach.
The orginal statue is more elegant.
Tartaria
Is utter nonsense.
Made from plaster, an entire city? So practically it was just a piñata. And we really believe this??
Ever heard of amusement parks?
Thank you for sharing. You are so pretty.
old world buildings found and destroyed
if they were that old why does the style matches with the architecture built on the xixth century?
All that paper lasted a year through the weather's glue got fire on it goodbye 😢
There are still a lot of little glass mugs and toothpick holders with flashed on color, from the World's Fair, usually red, you will often see them online in auctions. There are still a lot of little glass mugs and toothpick holders with flashed on color, from the World's Fair, usually red, you will often see them on eBay. Well done video by the way. It was a breath of fresh air to see an eloquent young lady, without over-done makeup, tattoos and piercings.
I still think they had knowledge and some type oF technology at that time that we don’t know Now, When you do your research on this. It really doesn’t Make any sense!
she's cute and she's curious!
😅😅
Why are you tell the truth about history here? What happened to the Japanese garden? What do you think happened to it World War II the Japanese were our enemies? We took them out all the gardens.
reset stolen founded his story
Is it just the same statue?
Wish we knew the truth
and since when does fire burn marble lol
