Beautifully done - thank you. I lived in Gander for about 6 months back in 2001. And almost every day, if you went by the airport, you would see some of the most original and interesting aircraft sitting there...I assume stopping off for re-fuelling.
Thanks for NOT adding music. Those big props do the music just fine. Amazing aircraft it is. Wish that big turboprop airliners would come back into service.
What a beast!Lovely!Big fan of Antonov aircraft. This was at Manchester yesterday, having arrived from Helsinki,so must have come from there.Apparently taking an engine down to Cuba!Long job! Great video mate😎👍
I have had it passing over my top-apartment in Lerum on several occations. Starting and landing on Landvetter Airport some 12 km away. Love the sound , even louder than the jets nowadays.
Awesome. Bet it sounded better in person. I was thinking on driving out but with a 4+ hour drive and a 7:30am departure meant a very early drive. Should of guessed it would of late later.
It was certainly a different roar then what i'm accustomed to. As cool as it was to see it ain't worth driving over the highway at night, along with the fog in this area it probably wasn't that great out there.
That droning prop sound at the beginning reminds me of when I first heard a turboprop, Lockheed Electra. It was a cold winter night in the 1960's and we where standing outside waiting for the plane to taxi up to the teminal, the plane right there in front of you, no fence or gate, how times have changed. Now every time I hear that sound it always reminds me of a cold winter night.
In case viewers didn't know, these NK-12 turbines were actually designed by a German/Austrian team which had been deported to the Soviet Union in 1946. After its development the foreign technicans were released since by then Russian engineering had caught up enough so they weren't needed any more
What you wanna say by this passage? Yankee's atomic project was build by means of scientist from all over the world. The gringo's rocket programm are completely based on German technologies and actually built by their engineers. Actually yankee gets brains from all over the world and all their technological achievements are a result of international cooperation. In case you didn't know, a German/Austrian team actually designed pretty different engine based on a later wartime German design Jumo 022. The new engine called TV-2 had conventional four-bladed props and could develop 5000 hp. In 1950, 241 German engine specialists (610 persons, including their family members) departed Upravlencheskiy for their homeland but several hundred engineers and workers from Germany remained at the plant. They were assigned a new task-to build a turboprop engine of unprecedented power, 12000 hp. They decided to go the simplest way - to combine two TV-2 engines with a single reduction gear power transmission. By the way, Germany had a similar experience. In 1939 Heinkel built the He 177 heavy bomber with four paired Daimler Benz engines. True, this experience was not a success because the power plant overheated and a strong vibration arose. But the Experimental Plant No. 2 German specialists either did not know about that, or maybe just preferred to keep silent. All hoped that the long awaited return home would occur after the task was fulfilled, and they tried to finish it as soon as possible. The new paired TV-2F engine delivered only 6250 hp and could not pass 100-hour State Test because a reduction shaft right gear tooth failed and 10 bolts on the load-carrying tube middle flange were broken after 50 hours of operation in the assigned mode... It had become clear already during the first ground tests of the paired TV-2s that a new reliable engine had to be created. And this engine that is known nowadays as NK-12 were created in early 1950s mostly by Soviet engineers. Its design is pretty differ from TV-2F, NK-12 is single engine with two large four-bladed contra-rotating propellers and 14800 hp.
@@anitaroberts8729 it would be a pity when this mesmerizing awesome and wonderful plane would never fly again. I hope it so badly to see and hear her once again
Deepest sounding takeoff ever
Loved it
Big ass blades and 2 sets of them too!
What an amazing sound this plane makes!
Yaa i like sound Antonov 22.
it is because of propeller turbines.
@@abyssofmymindnope, it’s because of counter rotating propellers…

Top! Great video. What an incredible sound, unmistakable, a great plane!
best sound ever
I remember long ago 1960s and 1970s when these planes were used in air service I have thought their engines would sound like loud fans
I love its sound i wish to hear it one day in my city
Coolest plane ever...
I love the engine sounds. The engine looks like a sound of an electric guitar or a bass guitar
Awesome catch :)
Wow what a beast....! Thumbs up 👍😉

Honestly, sounds a lot like if a V1 rocket had a turbocharger. Hauntingly low rumble.
Me encanta ese avión!!!!
When people ask why the 2 propellers, I just say "the second one unscrews the air from the first one".
Som sinistramente incrível 🤪

Even though this plane uses turbines, it sounds more like piston engines.
the sound your hear are the propellers not the engines...
Thats amazing. What a shallow climb tho lol
