Bandrek is some herbal concoction, made mainly from ginger and some other spices. It's a well known beverage, especially for cold weather. Every area in Indonesia have their own version. It's an age old Indonesian tradition for the women to work more than the men. Traditionally the women work the fields while the men sit around drinking. 😂😂
Acehnese are just like other Muslim all over the world, they are trying to live their lives in Sharia laws. They are kind because their religion said so and their prophet give guidelines for that too. If you like it then you are welcome there and if you don't like it don't bother yourself to visit them. FYI they are very strong people just like other Muslim in the world, you might see Palestinian, this people from Aceh have that spirit too. Never expect them to bow you like a god, they will not do that because their prophet prohibit it, but treat people as you like to be treated, that's the teaching in their faith. They believe Allah give them rezeki (prosperity) not people, so don't ever ask them to be nice to tourist just to get more to come, they hate it, it considers as insulting for them because their religion teaches them to be nice and good people ikhlas/ sincere because of Allah, their god, not because of something else. So for you who think Acehnese are rude to visitors don't come, they don't need you, besides they have a lot of nature resources that they can live with. Aceh is one of the richest land/area in Indonesia if you like to know. Thank you brother for telling the world what Acehnese look like in real life.

Never expect them to bow you like a god, they will not do that because their prophet prohibit it, but treat people as you like to be treated, that's the teaching in their faith. They believe Allah give them rezeki (prosperity) not people, so don't ever ask them to be nice to tourist just to get more to come, they hate it, it considers as insulting for them because their religion teaches them to be nice and good people ikhlas/ sincere because of Allah, their god, not because of something else.
So for you who think Acehnese are rude to visitors don't come, they don't need you, besides they have a lot of nature resources that they can live with. Aceh is one of the richest land/area in Indonesia if you like to know.
