    I'm looking forward to seeing how this pans out. I owned one in 1999, it was my first big road bike, and I really loved it. I sort of wish I hadn't sold it.

    Nothing under the Cornish flag stickers. I put them on because I live in Cornwall. Best bike I owned. Make sure you get manual CCTs if you buy one. I put APEs on this.

    Cool bikes! Every man cave should have one 😎 I couldn't afford a classic big 2stroker so I bought the next best thing "a big vtwin" (no not a harley) . Endless grinning inside your helmet when ridding.

      Such fun to be had on a cheaper big chunker of a bike, I like the tech on newer bikes, but I'm always feel aware that at any moment a sensor could throw up a fault, or some kind of electrical gremlin is going to pop up, meaning an expensive trip to a dealer. With these big old girls, I get none of those worries, so far less streesful, just charge up the battery, jump on, and blow away your worries 😁

    Bought one of theese today with a plan of converting it to some kind of cafe racer.
    It was the cheapest I could find in the country so it´s a little bit scabby but it runs nice.
    First impressions are (if you want to keep it about original):
    Change the oil in the forks to a slightly higher grade, 20w? ( I don´t know rhat the standard oil is).
    Change to steel braided brake hooses inte the front to improve feel.
    Raise the back (if possible?) or lower the front ~10-15 mm to make it a bit more playful.
    Adjust the handlebars to a bit more straight position (personal preference)
    Very important: If you´ve got the original cans, get som louder ones as it sounds wonderful when the exhausts are released a bit more openly!
    If you are picky:
    Get a narrower seat if you want to go far.
    Get a better rear shock and a fork from a CBR600 (or something similar).
    Change the brake pads to something "racier", just to improve feel.
    Teh VTR was released as a middle of the raod Honda design as nearly all Hondas, but it´s got potential to be a really nice bike with a few small modifidaftions.
    As a third bike after my 2020 Super Duke and the Tenere 700, this one falls in the middle and after just 100 km, I´m very happy with this very affordable bike!
    I will probably do all of the mosifications mentioned, plus get a single standing and bigger radioator (put in front of the motor) which will enable to make it in to a nice kind of cafe racer of some kind.

      @Budget-Cars-And-Bikes 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds like you have some serious plans for the VTR Nik :) but as these are such a bargain it leaves you plenty for mods and getting it just the way you like it. Good luck with the project, and thanks for commenting, be safe out there.

    Brought a red 98 one in June very pleased with bike mine has similar looking after market exhaust it may have something to do with a misfire coughing I get below 3k revs and can't seem to sort out, I have CNC bar risers on mine and a clear MRA touring screen which suits the bike well, looking forward to see how you get on with your VTR.

    • @Budget-Cars-And-Bikes
      @Budget-Cars-And-Bikes 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Perhaps you could try getting the carbs balanced to sort the coughing issue, if it were me, I would do a big Winter service including all filters and fluids, and spark plugs too, if the issue is still there maybe try a fuel cleaner fluid, if nothing helps at all, then more than likely a carb balance and clean should sort it 🙂

      @@Budget-Cars-And-Bikes it's an affordable Ducati they're absolutely unbelievable bikes the history is thick on this bike also it's a full-blown race bike a lot of people for some reason think that it's not I guess because of the age look but it is a full-blown race bike that's why it only has a two and a half gallon gas tank obviously wasn't meant for road travel...... do the research to any that may disagree this bike has tons of torque Superlight 112 lb dry 75 ft lb of torque and 132 horsepower all beautiful numbers much lighter than tl no comparison way too heavy i've smoked two of them......
