    Ginny and Bimini actually made me realise why I hated myself so much and not understand why. I never understood my gender or my body or anything like that. But, after their conversation something clicked for me. These two amazing people opened my eyes to who or what I am. And that is someone who is non-binary. I cannot thank this queen (and Bimini) enough for just getting on the show and telling their stories. Because they both have made me realise what I truly am. I love them both.

Please, I beg of you, message Michelle and all the other judges and message all the girls who fight in untucked and tell them it’s not ok to critique other people. People are being a bit dramatic. Maybe she was just tired. In pain. Or just fed up, you don’t know until you are in the moment. We’ve all had jobs we wish we could just leave but have to stay for money or others depend on us. Also, she said didn’t feel right staying and sending someone home when she’d had enough. She may not have planned this until that day. Who knows. She left a competition, it didn’t effect anyone who was already there. no big deal. Her choice.

    I Love Ginny. She's a rebel. What she did took guts. I also think it was unfair of Ru to try & push a sexy female look onto someone who is openly nonbinary. Props to Ginny for saying that there's no need for hips & tits to feel sexy. Ginny seems to be one of the few queens who actually feels good in their own skin. @@MrChristyCree While I can understand that, there are more ways to overcome insecurities & grow to feel good in your own skin than to force yourself to conform to typical standards of feminine sexiness. She even said she's not a fan of being overly stringent to a feminine binary. And Ginny in her usual look doesn't seem to have any issues feeling happy with herself, so obviously that path is working for her.

    • @tokki2901
      @tokki2901 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@MrChristyCree I dont think Ru would ever think about something like that.
      We all know Ru is problematic in terms of managing her drag contestant, being no afab queen and the reason why, and her comment about trans contestant and the surgery. Big chance Ru probably told ginny that just because Ru enjoys the kind of drag that change "masculinity" into "femininity", not because Ru really care about the drag performers.
      Welp Ru couldnt even remember 1/3 drag performers that have been in the show, how would she even remember the insecurities they have if not because of producers telling her about them lol.

      @SB-xz5yn 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@MrChristyCree why?!
      That’s like saying people who are bisexual have underlying issues, or people who can’t decide whether to be single or married. Socially constructed binaries aren’t necessarily a perfect fit for all.
      Non-binary simply means you don’t feel comfortable limiting yourself to one of the two accepted gender-expression for your whole life.

    I have said this on another video, fibromyalgia is painful and exhausting. The filming schedule is intense, so she would probably have been so worn out. As sh3 had only just been diagnosed, she hadn’t probably had the help with the principals of planning and pacing etc. I have had it for 15 years, and it’s so hard to hit the happy medium of activity versus rest.
    I applaud what she said about non binary discussion, hopefully it will start a dialogue.

So I was like.. "damn if they don't get transgender people then they will shit on me when I tell them I think I'm neither one of the genders" but i DO identify as a non-binary person. I personally think it is so wrong that Ru’s first suggestion to Ginny was that maybe she could try being “sexy”. Like why would anyone ever *need* to be sexy? If that is not the vibe of the persona Ginny is giving, then that should be ok!

      I think Ru was encouraging Ginny to add a other facet as a way to be a more diversified entertainer.
      as a queen, I avoided sexy stuff for the first half of my drag career and embracing a sexier side gave me a broader catalogue in my bag of tricks.

    Ginny Lemon, quite possibly the closest thing we've seen to a Drag Race Anarchist. I loved seeing her walk off and yet selfishly wish it had happened two or three episodes later just so we could really get our fill of her madness. And how I wish she had seen Nelson Sullivan's video of RuPaul from the late 80's where Ru kept begging "HEY! CAN I HAVE A QUARTER FOR A SLICE?" at anyone she passed on the street. It would have been the PERFECT bookend to Ginny's "Fancy a Slice?" catchphrase and I'm convinced had it been brought up to RuPaul now on the runway, her face would have literally cracked and crumbled at the Judges' Table. Like the Gnome KIng in "Return to Oz."

A premise, that she in this video, said she didnt agree with. If so then I feel a little as thiugh there's just an issue about priority? Tbh i sometimes dont get why queens put up with getting criticized on being themselves. Especially when theyre already that famous in their city
    But then again getting on the show is the chance of your life, to get that exposure and change ur life. Plus *some* challenges really bring good new sides of the queens that they never exposed and push them to new limits
    But why are the judges always trying to shape the drag queens into their style of preference and their thoughts on how a drag queen should look
    Its like queens are competing to be the judges most likeable queen not the best queen
    I bet most of them put up with this just bc they need as much screen time and exposure for their future career

    Disappointing Ginny. Something very telling about people who label themselves as an "icon" or "eccentric" - it comes across as inauthentic and desparate. I truly believe the challenge here was handling judges critique to a performer who needs to work on improv and comedic skills. No-one likes critique but the best grow from it, the worst walk off and then build walls of self defense and come across as ingrateful (which I believe Jody is examining in her interview here). Ginny you may be an icon in your own livingroom - you walked away from an opportunity to get your true wish of being a global icon - instead just left a sour taste in most peoples mouths. Fancy a slice? No thanks love, would rather have a bite of inspiration.

    Notice its mostly Americans that are upset and chastising her for being punk and doing it for her mental health. It's unfathomable to go against authority or your job bc it's disrespectful, and unprofessional, etc. I call out Americans bc our culture is just so enamored with capitalism that not being highly competitive and cutthroat is seen as weaker, childish, and disrespectful.
    She did what was best for her mental health, for her body and capabilities, and maybe she just wanted to do it. She didn't put a competition where she was isolated and criticized over who she is, her drag, her personality over her well being. Why should she? There's no money involved, even if there was its a gig like any other if you want to leave you just leave.
    She put herself first. Maybe there's something to be learned.

    I don't really get the whole Ginny Lemon thing. From the show, I didn't really get the drag - I understand the yellow symbolism etc but for me the looks/style wasn't there. Every week was pretty much the same poor attempts at trying to be entertaining wrapped in yellow... You can even see this in the interview: it's clear Jodie Harsh is cringing at the failed attempts at humour (what was the croissants thing all about?!) and I think pretty much wants to just get through the questions.
    In my personal opinion, I think Ginny walked off the stage because she couldn't deliver what the judges wanted which is a little bit of variation. Understand the footwear/health aspect and thats completely fine. The judges wanted to see a sexy fem look and they were presented with a very much half hearted attempt. Too stubborn to try something new or unable to deliver? Ginny says that it wasn't the intention to win the competition, begs the question why join? Personally don't think Ginny was a top contender anyway.
    Sorry if this difference of opinion upsets anyone and its not my intention to be negative, but I feel like maybe someone else has been robbed of an opportunity to show their skills and talents...
