Those are both beautiful Angie - - I love the "spiral fade" effect!!!

Thank you! Me too, how it looks like the spiral kind of melts into nothingness. 🙂

Hey there, 1)what is that metal thing u are using with the microwave playt&also- 2)having trouble getting that microwave plat cover. Any suggestions? 3) so u literally just put a chinch of ice right in the shirt? U didn’t have a colander draining over the shirt or the microwave cover?? Thanks again- Steve R from GB. Love watching u’r videos. Spent a week with Veteran’s and caregivers for a week doing guess what? Some art- photograph and of corse tie-dye and we had a great time. After I finish up some project work these are on tap to try and can’t wait. U rock!

      Hi!
      1. Those are locking tweezers. Here is a link for them from Amazon: amzn.to/3s5EdgV
      2. I can't remember where I bought mine, but I googled it and it looks like Kohls sells them. Here's the link: www.kohls.com/product/prd-5497401/nordic-ware-deluxe-10-in-microwave-plate-cover.jsp?skuid=86463985&CID=shopping15&FOOD%20PREP&CSE&CID=shopping30&SSC&CSE&gclid=Cj0KCQjwib2mBhDWARIsAPZUn_mW8aNxCJSZ6wJaOI__vF5VUBVuJGZaycuZYxiAuafgwTFqarrE2YEaArZxEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
      3. Yes, I place the chunk of ice directly on top of the dye. No, there wasn't a colander under or over the shirt, it is directly on top of the vinyl guttering. I've done a few colander dyes in the past, but I like doing the gravity dyes outside this time of year. It's been over 100 degrees Fahrenheit here lately and so the larger chunks of ice work better for me. They don't melt instantly, it usually takes them about an hour.
That's so great that you are working with Veterans and those who care for them. It's such a blessing to be able to share your gifts with others. 🙂

I use a plain white paper towel and place it on top of the shirt then put the dye on top of the paper towel. So far I have eliminated the dye spots and it does not affect the process at all. Because it’s just a thin piece of paper. Another thing that I do to avoid dye spots is to use a dry shirt. the dye spots seem to be worse when the shirt is super damp. Anyway these shirts are beautiful. I love them both!

The paper towel is a brilliant idea! Thank you for sharing, I'll have to try that. 😀

The colors are very pretty. I prefer the spiral in the lower corner of the shirt. Both shirts came out beautiful ❤️

Thank you! 😊 That's my favorite place too on these shirts with the V-neck.

The watery colors of these gravity dye shirts look so dreamy ... like a Monet painting.

Ooo they both turned out really pretty! Beautiful colour flows. 👏😊
Hmm I think when it comes to spirals, I prefer them in the center. Especially if it's gravity dyed. Like with these two shirts, there's way more colour flow around the spiral in the teal/purple shirt. The red/orange one (while still very pretty) has a lot of white space along the top and the one side. But with something like a single geode, I prefer when they are offset. So either at the top coming off the shoulder or in a bottom corner.

Another great video. I like the blue, teal, purplely shirt because those colors are my fav and a bit more artsy. And I like the spiral lower like the pink shirt. In fact I'd love to see 3 small spirals like waves diagonally across lower part of the shirt! Thank you for sharing your talents with us!

Thank you! I like the lower spiral with the V-neck shirts better too. A wave would be a great design to do as a gravity dye. 😀

Groovy shirts, Angie, I always love the dye flow. I think I like the spiral location on the second shirt better. Thanks for sharing.

I'm really liking the spiraling with the gutter through the shirt. I like the spiral in lower corner, although with spiral higher it reminds of a flower broach.

Thank you so much! I think on the V-neck shirts I like the spiral in the lower part of the shirt the best too. 🙂

Looks cool. The orangey/yellow one looks like a spiral lollipop melting in water. Love the gravity look

This video has a lot of helpful info for beginners like me which I appreciate. Like your comment about dye powder not sticking to stainless steel spoons as much (I've been using plastic) and how you do get some tiny spots of color in unintended areas from the dye blowing in the breeze. I had wondered about that because that has been happening to me and I thought I was just not being careful enough. Thank you for your detailed explanations and thinking out loud for us newbies.

I like the blue/green/purple colors more but the spiral tightness and placement of the pink/red one makes it by far mu favorite.

Could you please try something new for me??? Take a white tee and put both arm holes thru the gutter. At 5 feet away it will look like a person wears a tee. Now pleat straight across the up and tie up with sinew or string.
Use blues, purples, pinks and turquoise's (JUST NO RED, ORANGE, GREEN) and do ypur magic with the ice.
Thank you for thinking about doing this. ❤

Or safety pin the neck together and give it the spiral twist.
