- Former Limestone County Sheriff Mike Blakely tells News 19 that he received several letters from Casey White when he was a state prisoner in Bessemer. The most significant was his claim that he had knowledge about a cold case murder out of Lauderdale County.

When I saw that it was 1 officer taking an inmate off grounds alone, that brought up a red flag right away. I was a corrections officer 22 years. They never allowed a single officer to transport an inmate anywhere. It’s protocol to have 2 officers on a transport and the inmate is restrained in waist chains, handcuffs, and ankle chains.

Casey White was probably desperate for a transfer because he knew he could escape from jail easier than prison is my speculation. This guy is serving 75 years. All he has is time on his hands to be a master manipulator.
Yes exactly. Guess he tricked the locals with the whole " I can help you solve a crime" trick. Once he got there he changes his plea to buy time for the escape. Whoever signed off on the prison to jail transfer should be looked at. This wasn't just him and her involved is my hunch.
I worked as a correctional officer in a maximum security prison for 6 years. I unfortunately saw a number of female officers lose their jobs because they apparently fell in love with male inmates. There was even a male officer who started with me who got fired within a couple weeks on the job for having sex with a male inmate. Crazy things happen in prison.
You should write a book on your employment there, It probably would be more captivating than fictional books.
@@geminigirl5400 One of the saddest moments for me was when a young lady I went to high school with who was an officer got involved with an inmate and started smuggling marijuana into the prison for him. They eventually had a falling out and the inmate snitched on her and she was later caught bringing the drug into the prison and was immediately fired. Then for a while, until our union got it stopped, all officers were strip searched upon reporting for work.

One guy was released after 7 years and when he left, he took an officer's wife, who worked there with with him! Seen a number of female staff throw it all away for a low life. If an inmate has beat or killed his wife, you think he will treat you different?

The woman likely has at least one legal pad full of explanations about what happened, from, "He kidnapped me and took my gun" to "He's sick and needs caring". They will be caught - a pair like that will literally stand out.

She transported a 6'9" violent male felon (by herself) to a non-existent court appointment!
She told staff that she was ill and had a medical appointment scheduled after the the prisoner transport - so nobody expected her to return!
She drove the patrol car directly to the parking lot where the car was abandoned - she never went near the Court house!
Only in Alabama (and perhaps Mississippi) is this a coincidence!!!
I would not be surprised if she collects the $10,000 reward if they are captured !
She submitted her retirement paperwork last week and, as far as I know, especially for a civil servant, it takes several weeks for the paperwork to be processed. Although she can't be fired, she'll lose the pension that she worked 25 years to collect. I would be interesting to know if she took the cash from the sale of her home with her when she went on the run. Such a foolish woman.
I thought I read her Husband passed away and she was a widow . However I can't remember the source. I am not refuting your claim. But if he did pass away and she really is involved, I want to know how he died and when. I also want to know, if she was divorced, why and when? Small town jail (around 300 inmates) The sallyport gate was already up prior to the inmate getting into the car and she was walking ahead of him the whole time both of which is definitely not the norm. I'm sure they are pretty lax there. Kind of like Mayberry or Hazzard county.

I worked as a deputy sheriff and we would always have to have two deputies to take anybody to prison or anywhere. I can't understand a sheriff that would let this happen.
The checking into the motel across the street from the patrol car was the icing on the cake. I guess Barney was in Mt pilot that day, sheriff Taylor& OP were fishing. Did Otis see anything? Aunt B was visiting the Governor, she had a luncheon with Randy Rainbow.

The prison staff was as negligent to let this happen. Should have been stopped before leaving the grounds it appears they were all negligent and if he kills anyone they should be held responsible in civil court.

I am beginning to think that women should not be in men's prisons and the other way around. This is NOT the ONLY incident where a guard and inmate have been lovers. What 5th grader in their right mind would transport a 6'9" felon with only one officer, let alone a small female officer without any backup. Millions of $$$ cost of apprehending and potentially deadly consequences to the public. This Sheriff needs to be relieved of his duties immediately.
