It literally gives me a thrill when I hear it. Just beautiful, and a brilliant choice to begin the story. I had the soundtrack once upon a time on an audio cassette, and I remember that this is an excerpt from a Strauss song called Im Abendrot. Great stuff. This must have been something in the theater! I'm jealous.
You should listen to the complete four last songs of Strauss, of which this is the last of the four . While I've been a fan of David Lynch, I think this movie is over the top and I'm actually sorry he used this music in it.
@loge10 Thanks . But I disagree because this music was used because of its sad, tragic yet beautiful ambiance. That lends itself perfectly to the tale of these two ' doomed ' lovers ❤️
Where are you amazing people? I saw this movie when it first released. My girlfriend and I went to the Little Theatre Cinema in Bath to see it. Bath was very much like Twin Peaks which we also watched together. Except Bath is much weirder and has seven peaks.
One of the best opening themes of all time. I saw this in a theater. And after the curtains parted I knew this music from somewhere far away.
