The city stretched out its iron hand after me again into the green fields. Uncomplainingly I let myself be taken away, and while the iron shook and crackled, I once more, for the last time, absorbed the peace of the plain, the blue slumber of the distant expanses. Farewell, fields. Roll your noise on the sun-gilded ridges. It may seem to some, as it does to me. And you, cuckoo, from the top of the birch tree. You, too, tuned the strings of my soul. They have loosened, frayed by rough tufts, and now they are being stretched again. Do you hear it? Here they rattle even ....
Goodbye. I'm walking between people. The soul is ready, the strings are tight, tuned, it's already playing.
