Randy, I look up to you for hunting advice and knowledge. You're pretty knowledgeable, for an accountant. I bought a Metcalf based on how much use and abuse I've seen you and your crew put these through. I'm looking forward to putting it through the pases for the rest of my life. Elk, deer, bear, and cougar will grace its fabric. Maybe goat, moose, and ram one day if I'm lucky. Thanks for what you and your crew do. Happy hunting.
Great demonstration. The modular versatiliy of the "Load Bearing" frames gets overlooked when many are just looking at liters. I will be using the Pintler -(Daypack Lid & BIg Bops on the molle adds) and Terreframe 65 -(Big Bop adds) for14 days with 3 canisters each for "couples camera hunt". Packs and gear will make it If "we" do.
Hey Randy Farmer here again from Arizona. Synchronicity is an amazing thing; I was going to ask you about this very topic - your pack! I knew it was a Mystery Ranch pack but didn't know it was the Metcalfe model. Great vid as usual, extremely informative. Great YT hunt channel ! Warmest Regards.
Hi Randy, is the meat shelf expandable on the bottom? or just fit what can fit in between and sinch it down? I saw in a video a guy expands the sawtooth shelf to make the bottom longer if that makes sense
I was going to go for a MR sawtooth 45 as I mainly day hunt from a base location. The metcalf would let me haul in base camp kit and transition to day hunts with the one pack. 👍
Question for you, which would be a more ideal/versatile pack set up to cover both light day hunts up to to 4-7 day backpack trips with meat hauling, and why: 1) Metcalf, or 2) Sawtooth 45 + Beartooth 80( bag only)
Randy, I’m interested in seeing how your new Pop Up 28 does in the field. Hope y’all get lots of field testing and videos of it in action. Give us a review of it after season!
Two things here Randy 1: I'd love to see a 4,5 bag dump 2: is this just a celebrity sponsorship bag or truly believe in the product. Exo,kifaru, kuiu all do the same or claim to. Not a bashing, just a ?. I am a follower(subscriber).

The Metcalf is the most versatile and useful pack I've ever encountered. I'm sure you will have many great days with it.
It’s been a year since this post what’s your verdict? I’m debating on buying right now
Love my Metcalf. Always buy local when possible

Hope you have a great season.
I rock the Selway 60.My favorite pack ever
Just got my Metcalf from GoHunt after using your promo code. It is an awesome backpack and I can't wait to take it deer and bear hunting this year.
You will like it. Promise.
What’s your verdict on it? Looking into purchasing one at the moment

Just bought my Metcalf today!

I have just seen one of ur videos! Do you use a howa 1500?
I have been using the REI Traverse 85 for the last 2 seasons. Its not made in the USA but it is half the price, lighter and has more volume.
Mystery Ranch's hunting line aren't made in the USA either.
Is it quiet though? Does it squeak when you stalk? I had to toss my REI bag out on bow hunts =/
I'm looking at getting one of these. What size do you use Randy? Thank you!
Medium for me.
Own one, best I've ever owned and it will probably be passed down to my grand boys one day. Not yet though.
If you put meat in a game bag in the actual pack is there a way to protect it from getting bloody or do you live with the blood stains?
These packs wash out easy. I take mine to the car wash, hit it with the high pressure rinse, let it dry, and it is good to go.

I will. I have a Pop Up 18, but given how intriguing it is, I might try to snag a 28, also.
what about a two week solo hunt in alaska wilderness. Will it work for that? 100-120 lb plus what game meat i can carry out?
I would step up to the Marshall for that load.

Poor Mystery Ranch! They are now going to be inundated with thousands of orders for Metcalfe's! Well done, Randy!
I hope so.
Does it at all disappoint you that Mystery Ranch production is/has moved overseas?
Some of it has. Their fire and military lines are 100% Berry Compliant
I wish they were made in the USA. Especially for the price.
LOVE Mystery Ranch packs but HATE their shoulder straps. Too thin and too much of an aggressive S curve.
How does Kafari compare to this pack?
You won't go wrong with either or; there's pro's and con's to each
blitziel thank you, I think I’ll just have to find a place to try them on and see which one i like
