i saw this program when i was studiying in London, and i remenber I saw Pal in central london on a shop with Lauren 14 years later i interviwed them in Oslo. beautiful
You laugh, but I remember that back then the whole pumpkin and Halloween thing was not happening in Europe yet! Not even in our kitchen gardens! ;-) The origin of the whole Halloween concept is European, but it used to take a whole other form here. The pumpkin theme was definitely added in the USA, and that idea as well as the groundbreaking idea to actually grow this (then) exotic veg, somehow migrated back here around the year 2000. Now I have a garden full of pumpkins. And Halloween decorations.
It kind of annoys me how the guy (like a lot of other interviewers I've seen) just focuses almost entirely on Morten. I know he's the lead singer, but Mags and Paul are really interesting guys too. An it was funny how mags finished all of his soup during the interview. I gues he was too busy carving the pumpkin to realise how hungry he was
That’s because the music industry used Morten as an object and put most of the attention on him. Just look at all the videos and photos of Morten being bare chested with just a vest, leather and other tight pants, shirts all the way open, tight shirts, his long hair blowing or him constantly putting his hand through it and tossing it, looking like a pin up or perfect GQ model. Being front and center most of the time while Magne and Pål were pushed in the background. The brainwashed media and many fans sucked it up. Watch a-ha the movie. It explains it pretty well. Sex sells, as they say, unfortunately. It is sad for all three of them are equally handsome (IMHO). Though that is not the most important thing here, sad truth is that the three of them are equally phenomenally talented and they were pretty much turned into a boy band with Morten as main eye candy with oh, two other guys in the background there. They really wanted to be taken seriously.😞

He himself stated that it was the best scenario he could wish for. Also, if you will take a deeper look into how Savoy was created, you would surprisingly learn that the biggest problem was that although Paul wanted to have a new band, but never wanted to play live shows and do other stuff a frontman was supposed to do. Again, he felt too weak to do it. My point is it seems that Mags and Paul needed Morten to be in the spotlight more than they could admit. Sometimes people try too hard to explain their own weaknesses and failures and eventually they start to believe their own tales. A-ha isn't the only band having a handsome frontman, yet they have the most wretched career. I wonder why...

Well, I think back then they were doing pretty much everything they were asked to do. Also maybe because they both cook and thought it would be fun. I did wonder why Pal wasn't there. maybe he didn't want to do that part, or maybe it would have been too crowded. Actually watching this again at the very end you can see there is a bowl on the table in front of Pal.
I think maybe Pål skipped a lot of the segment because he’s more the left brained Introvert of the group. My guess. I have seen quite a few interviews where it is mostly Magne and Morten. I feel Magne is very Extroverted and Morten might be more in the middle somewhere? Pål probably said “I’m good. Knock yourselves out guys.” 😉 I am thinking as well their management tried to get them on anything so they would be seen. Heck, they sacrificed Morten to be the sex object to sell the band, so why not put them on every show possible as well? Whatever brings in the money.😒
